    ‘Why we partnered with Edo govt on Shallipopi’s homecoming concert‘

    The Chief Executive Officer of Adozi Empire, Onyeka Adozi, has said that the company partnered with the Edo State Government to host fast-rising Edo-born musician, Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, to a sold-out homecoming concert in Benin.

    Adozi said  the artist has defied the odds to record success in  the nation’s competitive music scene.

    The event was organised by Adozi Empire Limited and Banksx Entertainment in conjunction with EdoFEST and the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs.

    The sold-out concert  at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, Airport Road, and was attended by the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki; his wife, Betsy; Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Diaspora Affairs, Hon. Uyi Malaka Oduwa; Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Hon. Chris Nehikhare and the CEO of Adozillion Homes, Dr Simon Adozi.

     Adozi said the concert was held to connect Shallipopi with fans in his home city after a successful year in which he emerged as one of Nigeria’s most sought-after artists.

    He said:0 “It was exciting to work with Shallipopi on this project, and we are indeed impressed by the turnout of fans in Benin. The energy was massive and we are proud to be associated with him and the state government on this successful project. We promise to continue to work on creating more of these immersive experiences for fans going forward.”

    The Chief Executive Officer of Banksx Entertainment, Mr. Happy Edosonwan, said the concert was well deserving as Shallipopi has been resilient in promoting Benin culture in his music.

    He said: “It was a thrilling experience to have worked on this project because Shallipopi is the new face of Edo pop culture and we are proud of his success. It was only proper to have him in front of the home crowd.”

    Thrilling the crowded and frenzied hall with songs off his latest EPs, Planet Pluto and Presido La Pluto, Shallipopi paraded an array of other artists such as Victor AD, Erigga, Berri Tiga, among others.

    Addressing the crowd, Shallipopi said: “I am home. This is my city. I thank you for your support. I thank you for your support. The support and love have been overwhelming and I am grateful for coming out to welcome and support me today.”

    He expressed appreciation to his mother for taking him to Lagos, paving the way for him to return to Benin as ‘Shallipopi’, a global star who has graced the O2 Arena and now commanding global following.

    How my passion for music made me quit banking – ID Cabasa

    Prominent music producer, Olumide Ogunade, popularly known as ID Cabasa, has recounted how he left the banking sector to pursue music fully. 

    He said he took the decision because music has always been his passion.

    Speaking in a recent episode of the Debbie Show TV, Cabasa said he studied medicine for two years before dropping out to study economics.

    He said: “I did medicine for two years, then went to study economics. After my masters, I worked with two Nigerian banks and then I went into music.

    “My parents wanted me to be a doctor. When I got admission to study medicine, I knew I was not going to do that. So I wrote another JAMB and was admitted into Lagos State University to study economics. I couldn’t study music then because it wasn’t seen as a career, unlike now. Initially, I was doing music just for the passion.

    “Despite studying economics, I always knew I would do music. Not just music. If I tell people that music was not the first thing that I did in art, they won’t believe me. It was acting.”

    Veteran Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw, has addressed her cold relationship with colleague, Genevieve Nnaji.

    Kate was asked in an interview with media personality, Chude Jideonwo about the status of her longstanding friendship with Genevieve.

    Henshaw revealed in her response that she and Genevieve had little disagreements in previous years.

    She, however, expressed her concerns about Genevieve’s tendency to pull away from her and their colleagues.  

    Kate concluded by saying she respected Genevieve and her choices, likening her to American actress Angelina Jolie.

And then she left the set before us and said, ‘Kate I have gone, just want to say goodbye.’ But then, I respect her because despite the fact that she pulls away, I think she is like an Angelina Jolie. She just wants to be on her own.”

    Sanwo-Olu’s wife celebrates first babies in four Lagos hospitals

    Wife of the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu on New Year Day welcomed and presented gifts items to the first babies of the year in four public hospitals.

    The hospitals are: Badagry General Hospital; Maternal Child Centre (MCC) Amuwo-Odofin; Ajeromi General Hospital and Apapa General Hospital.

    Baby Echo-Harry, a Male who weighed 3.6Kg delivered at exactly 12:04AM by Mrs. Echo-Harry is the first baby of the year at the Badagry General Hospital.

    The first babies of year at the Maternal and Child Centre, Amuwo-Odofin are Twins delivered through Cesarean Section by Mrs Salaudeen. 

    The first child, a Male, weighing 3.0Kg was delivered at exactly 12:07AM; the second child, also a Male who weighed 3.05Kg was delivered at 12:09AM

    Baby Balogun, a Male who weighed 2.9Kg and delivered at 12:01AM by Mrs. Balogun is the first baby of the year at Ajeromi General Hospital, while the first babies of year at the Apapa General Hospital is Baby Rafiu Rachael a Male who weighed 2.6Kg and delivered at 12:38AM by Mrs. Rafiu Rachael.

    Welcoming the first babies at these hospitals, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, expressed joy and gratitude at the arrival of the first babies, extending her felicitations to the proud parents and the healthcare team present on January 1st, 2024.

    Addressing audience at the event which has become an annual tradition in Lagos, Dr. Sanwo-Olu emphasised the significance of a newborn as a precious blessing, symbolizing hope, new beginnings, and the resilience of life. 

    She highlighted the communal celebration not only of the infant but also of the collective spirit uniting everyone present and promoting child healthcare services statewide.

    Recognizing the pivotal role of a child’s birth in different cultures, she stressed its significance in preserving heritage and fostering good fortune for families and society. Dr. Sanwo-Olu commended the efforts of the Lagos State Government, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in fortifying maternal and child health policies, upgrading healthcare facilities, and ensuring accessible and affordable services.

    She said: “Over the years, the Lagos State Government under the current administration of Mr. Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, through the Ministry of Health has continued to deliver its mandate to all residents in the State. 

    The Government has strengthened its Maternal and Child health policies and programs, upgraded and constructed new MCC facilities to provide accessible and affordable mother and child healthcare services hence, reducing the high rate of morbidity and mortality among women and under-5 children in the State.”

    The First Lady reiterated the government’s commitment to creating an environment where children can thrive and access quality healthcare akin to global standards.

    “As a government, we are committed to creating an environment where every child will strive perfectly like their counterparts in developed countries, where quality healthcare services will be accessible and equitable using appropriate modern technology through highly motivated healthcare workers.

    “I wish to commend the health family under the leadership of the Honourable Commissioner, Special Adviser, the Permanent Secretaries and other indefatigable leaders for the continuing infrastructural upgrade; provision of relevant equipment, commitment to human capacity development towards best global practices in order to promote quality healthcare service delivery at all levels of care, promoting positive attitude of healthcare workers and to enhance customer’s satisfaction.”

    Ekiti chief breaks Guinness World Record for longest TV watching marathon

    Ekiti chief and Guinness World Record hopeful, Sanya Atofarati, has completed his 120 hours challenge to set new GWR for Longest Marathon Watching Television

    Atofarati, a community leader and creative artist, who began the marathon television watching challenge on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 ended it on Monday, January 1, 2024 after clocking the targeted 120hours in Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.

    There moment was glamorous with huge presence of supporters across gender and age brackets with songs of victory and the celebration of the completion of the challenge graceful.

    Atofarati, who said he was out to break the 94 hours set by the present GWR holder in the category, Fragoso, a web developer from New York, holding the record since 2016, expressed hope that he would be certified by GWR after verification of his evidences.

    Atofarati, in a chat in Ado Ekiti on Monday said: “We are optimistic of being recognized as the new record holder because all the prescriptions outlined in our Personal Guidelines were meticulously and diligently followed.

    “All our evidence requirements are ready because they were treated to real-time. It will be reviewed and submitted to GWR with the next 72hours.”

    Atofarati, who appreciated Nigerians for their support during the exercise, saying it was a privilege to have represented Nigeria in the competition, said, “By tomorrow (Tuesday), I will be making the first appearance in Ilawe Ekiti where I will be celebrating the success with about 100 widows.

    “Watching TV for 120 hours has strengthened my knowledge base because I am better informed about the world and happenings around me which I believe will further enhance my capacity to deliver.

    “I am of the belief that the exercise has further added value to tourism benefits in Nigeria. I thank Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State; Senator Biodun Olujimi; and the Director General, Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development, Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre for encouragement and support.

    “I also appreciate the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Adebanji Alabi; former Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State, Segun Adewumi; Ekiti State former Commissioner for Works, Mrs Funmi Ogun; Mrs Lanre Fajuyi; the host community under Elder Sunday Agunbiade; host of others too numerous to mention and my wife, Mrs Orobosa Atofarati.”
