He also criticised the lack of originality in the song “Iyo,” saying that it was a sample of Shallipopi’s “Itendo” by Fabo Mo.

Notwithstanding the severity of his criticism, he stutteringly concluded his rant on Twitter with the phrase “No offence,” implying that his words were simply his personal opinion.

He wrote: “Shallipopi’s debut album (Presido La Pluto) is a 1/10; The album is made for yahoo boys & weed smokers. The beats were very catchy, but lyrically speaking the songs are a zero.

“Furthermore, in the track “lyo”, he kinda sampled “Itendo”, a song by Fabomo who’s another popular Edo artiste. The only manageable track off the album is Jungle. No offense.”

  • Sam Loco-Efe most intelligent Nollywood actor ever lived – Charles Onojie

Sam Loco-Efe most intelligent Nollywood actor ever lived – Charles Onojie

Nollywood actor, Charles Inojie, has described his late colleague, Sam Loco-Efe as the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived.

Speaking with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Inojie said Efe was “from another planet” due to how much of a genius he was.

He said regrettably, the legendary thespian died without a national honour.

Inojie said: “Uncle Sam (Sam Loco-Efe) was perhaps the most intelligent Nollywood actor that ever lived. He can be here smoking a cigarette, and people are rehearsing that way, you won’t know that his subconscious mind is where they are rehearsing. He would be correcting you from afar, you won’t even know he is talking to you.

“If you have a scene to play with him, Uncle Sam would only read with you once. He would ask the others to rehearse their lines. He would read that scene just once. He would say his lines, and when you missed yours, he would tell you your lines. Since I’ve been meeting people, I haven’t seen that type before. Uncle Sam was from another planet.

“But the country we live in, how can anyone imagine that Uncle Sam died without a national honour? In a country where national honours are being given to neophytes, greenhorns. Uncle Sam died without a national honour.

“One of Nigeria’s entries to FESTAC 1977, I think was ‘Lambodo’ where Uncle Sam played the lead role. He got a special mention from the Queen as the best actor in Africa. That kind of human being, even in death, deserves posthumous awards.”

Recall that Sam Loco-Efe died on August 7, 2011, at the age of 65.

Comedian Ali Baba shares important message to junior colleagues

Veteran comedian Atunyota Alleluya Akpobome, popularly known as Ali Baba has put together a message for younger colleagues, upcoming and aspiring comedians about succeeding in the industry

Ali Baba, who is the host of the yearly Spontaneity for aspiring comedians to showcase their talents and win prizes, revealed what he usually shares with them during the competition.

He stated that the industry is big enough for anyone to excel without being a hindrance to another.

He wrote: “Recently, someone asked me why I was organizing #alibabasspontaneity.

He said he had to ask because he had attended 6 editions of #alibabasspontaneity and he could see the kind of support that should take the financial burden off me. From the beginning of #alibabasspontaneity, I had stated that the goal was to let upcoming comedians learn 5 things.

“That spontaneity is the holy grail of Stand Up Comedy. That there is money in the comedy industry. That with the comedic talents they have, they can get themselves a car and many more things in life. That being a comedian is no walk in the park. And the most important reason, that the comic space is big enough for all and there was no need to try and stop other people’s shine.

“I celebrate every colleague and help to promote all. As you can see, as shown by that 1st prize winner, the fact that the 2nd and 3rd position joined her on the 1st position stand, did not reduce her 1st position to 5th. Sharing in the joys and happiness of others is a trained mindset. A mindset that is achieved by knowing that the success of all, is the success of you as well.

“Be humble in victory. Be human in greatness. Be graceful in authority. Be generous in appreciation. Be accommodating in your blessings. What do I know sef? Shebi I am just a comedian?”
