“I’ve been following Adekunle Gold since I first heard his record ‘Sade’ in 2016,” he said. “Over the years, everything in AG’s world has elevated — his songwriting has refined, the scope of his artistry has widened, his vocals have strengthened, his approach to fashion is more distinct, and his showmanship and performance ability have grown exponentially.

“He’s stepped into stardom on his own terms and is completely comfortable being his true self,” he said.

Balogun, who described AG Baby as a perfect fit, also noted he had strived really hard to get to the level he’s attained in his musical career, adding the record label is simply joining forces with him to achieve much greater feats.

Reacting to the development, Adekunle Gold expressed immense excitement over signing for the record label and the opportunity to work with Balogun who he likened to his studio buddy

“The track record is there. The history is there. They break artists, and they have niche, unique artists like me, so I think it’s the right move for me. All of the things that I’ve done for myself already, they know already and that’s why they’re on board.”

Def Jam which is an American multinational record label owned by Universal Music Group, boasts of megastar alumni like Jay Z, Kanye West, and Rihanna.

“My sound after production stands me out from others out there. I do all genres around Afro music. It’s good to be versatile so the audience doesn’t get tired of your sound.

“Making music starts with creating percussions then moving to instruments after voicing. Once that is done I move to mixing them together and export it for mastering. I mix and master my sounds, and I’m unique in my craft,” he stated.
