    BBTitans’ Kanaga Jr gets lead role in MTV Shuga Naija

    BBTitans Kanaga Jr has landed a role in popular TV series, MTV Shuga Naija.

     The one time Head of House and Nigeria representative in the ongoing show was announced as one of the lead cast of the popular TV series powered by MTV Staying Alive Foundation.

     According to reports, MTV Staying Alive Foundation’s Talent Accelerator Program — a platform created to invest in young, emerging female creatives discovered Kanaga Jr and Chioma Edak.

    Kanaga Jnr will play the role of ‘Kachi Okezie,’ a lead cast member in the fifth season of the series.

    Confirming the announcement, Kanaga Jr official Twitter handle tweeted, “It’s official.  Kanaga Jnr is “Kachi Okezie,” a lead cast in the 5th season of MTV SHUGA NAIJA coming soon to your screen. Let’s go boy, it’s about to be hectic!  Kanaga Jr The Actor, Kanaga Jr X Mtv Shuga Naija 5.”

     Kanaga Jr joins other cast of the series that include Susan Pwajok, Ilooise Omohinmi, Maggie Osuome, Lexan Peters, Ben Touitou, Kem Ajieh Ikechukwu, Okey Uzoeshi, John Njamah, Kiki Omeili, Chioma Edak, Francis Onwochei and, Bolaji Ogunmola. 

     Kanaga Jr and his partner Blue Aiva in the ongoing BBTitans emerged the third leaders of the Ziyakhala Wahala house as well as the second heads of House.

    Kate Henshaw calls out INEC over inability to vote

    Nollywood actress, Kate Henshaw has expressed her disappointment at the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), over the inability to vote at her polling unit.

    The actress and TV show compere complained that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation (BVAS) could not recognize her even though her name is on the list and also in the INEC official website.

    “INEC, I registered, I transferred my card. I picked up my pvc now your BVAS is saying I’m not registered but I have seen my name on the register on the wall and on your website,” said Henshaw in  a video shared on social media.

    “What are you guys doing? It’s like you people want problems with me. CNN, BBC, anybody watching this video from outside the country, INEC is playing games, it’s not just me but there are so many people here who have not been found on the BVAS, please whoever is in charge of INEC Lagos needs to come and sort it out in the polling unit here, I beg you.”

    Iyabo Ojo implicates colleague over alleged threat to life

    Nollywood star actress Iyabo Ojo has called out one of her colleagues over an alleged threat to life for openly supporting and backing the presidential aspiration of Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi.

    Ojo, who had endorsed Obi has been canvassing support for him through her social media. However, one of Iyabo’s colleagues known as Legge Miami, urged her to stop supporting Obi openly.

    “Aunty Iyabo, stop it! I know what I am saying, continue enjoying yourself. You are a strong voice in the society and whatever you say would be accepted by the people. Don’t you know your power? I would advise you to be careful, that’s why I advise because it looks like hatred from your side. I don’t want anything to happen to you,” Legge Miami said to Iyabo Ojo in a voicenote shared on Iyabo’s Instagram page.

    In her response, Ojo chastised Legge Miami saying, “You are not in the position to tell me what to do, all my posts are curated from different blogs and other actor’s pages. I only posted what concerns my party, the people and not other parties. I am not INEC so I am just giving my people updates. When they were campaigning I wasn’t part of it, neither did I insult people for their choices because it’s not my business. I am only focused on what matters to me. Now you are sounding like there’s a threat to my life and you have implicated yourself already with this voice note. We only die once anyways.”

    • Mercy Johnson-Okojie

    The versatile movie star and mother of four, Mercy Johnson-Okojie starred in the movie titled: “Heart of a widow” where she had her hair completely shaved off for the role.

    Mercy Johnson, who was the widow in the 2011 movie, starred alongside actor, Kenneth Okonkwo.

    *Faithia Williams

    Filmmaker Fathia Williams went bald twice for two different movie roles.
    The thespian, in 2011, had her hair shaved for the movie titled: “Makomi” which actually brought her into the limelight.

    Also in 2016, she went bald for the shooting of the movie “Shola Arikusa” which featured Yinka Quadri, Femi Adebayo, Odunlade Adekola, Toyosi Adesanya, amongst others.

    *Bimbo Akintola

    Actress Bimbo Akintola played the role of a widow who suffers at the hands of her in-laws after the passing of her husband in the movie, “The mourning after”.

    The 52-year-old award-winning film star had to shave off her hair to fit into the role of grieving widow.

    *Toyin Abraham
    Toyin Abraham went bald to pull off her character in the movie “Ana Mi”.

    In 2017, the mother of one shocked many when she took to her Instagram page to share photos of her new look. She wrote: “Going bad and bald on this…. MY PAST (ANA MI) a movie by @wumitoriola directed by @adebayotijani#filming #workmode #beastmode.”

    Ebube Nwagbo with colleagues, Angela Okorie, Chita Agwu and several others went bald for the movie titled, “Widows cult”.

    The 2013 movie which was shot in Owerri centered on widows who killed their husbands for money.

    *Queen Nwokoye

    Actress Queen Nwokoye shaved for the movie: “The three widows” which also featured Oge Okoye-Duru and Rukky Mushud.

    *Uche Jombo

    Uche Jombo went bald in the movie “Holding hope”. She acted as a woman with leukemia

    *Rachael Okonkwo

    Nnenna Rachael Okonkwo, who is well-known for her role in the Nkoli Nwa Nsukka, ultimately earning the name of the movie, went bald for “Iga Alikaya”, an Igbo film.

    *Chika Ike

    Chika Ike shaved when she starred in the movie titled “Moment of tears” in which played the wife of veteran Nollywood icon, Olu Jacobs.

    *Destiny Etiko

    Curvy actress Destiny Etiko best known for portraying Ekemma in the movie ‘Idemili’ debuted the bald look for the 2018 movie titled, “Private Part”.

    *Eve Esin

    Actress Eve Esin, fondly called Kokoma is one of the Nollywood females who had to sacrifice their hair for a movie role.

    In the movie titled “Girls on fire,” Eve was made to shave her hair when her friend broke a bottle on her head while fighting with her for sleeping with her boyfriend.

    Media personality, Shade Ladipo has hit Grammy-winning singer, Burna Boy, tagging him a clown and an opportunist.

    Burna had recently explained why he is not vocal on the 2023 elections.

    ‘Odogwu’, who suggested he personally didn’t have any preferred candidate he had faith in, insisted he didn’t want to be responsible for endorsing anyone that may eventually fail the people who would then turn around to blame him.

    However, he hoped for credible elections where only those deserving came out victorious.

    Reacting, the TV presenter condemned Burna Boy’s reasons, accusing him of being an opportunist that uses the situation of the country and the continent to promote his music.

    He schooled the Afro-fusion star, stating a genuine pan-Africanist would understand the significance of the 2023 elections, arguing voter participation didn’t necessarily involve supporting a specific candidate.

    She wrote: “Your African ant is a clown. If you are a true pan Africanist as you claim with your music then you must understand the importance of these elections.

    “Promoting voter participation doesn’t involve supporting any candidate.

    “You are a clown and an opportunist who only uses Nigerian/African issues to promote your music.

    Media personality Toke Makinwa is disheartened by singer-cum-politician Banky W’s loss of the House of Representatives seat to the Labour Party candidate in Saturday’s poll.

    Thaddeus Attah of the Labour Party (LP) was declared the winner of the Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.

    Attah won with 24,075 votes, beating Banky W of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with 18,666 votes and Mr Babjide Obanikoro of the APC, who scored 16,901 votes.

    Reacting, Makinwa argued Banky W deserved to win because he worked tirelessly compared to the LP candidate who she noted was neither known nor campaigned at all.

    The 38-year-old TV host said: “The news of LP winning in Eti Osa House of Representatives is so painful cos he didn’t campaign, we don’t even know him.”

    “Banky worked so hard, Banky deserves to win Eti Osa. #NigerianElections2023”, she added.

    Popular stand-up comedian Basketmouth has explained why he couldn’t vote during Saturday’s National Assembly and Presidential elections.
    The humour merchant, who was ‘cancelled’ by the online community for having scheduled shows abroad which collided with the 2023 elections, regretted he couldn’t make it.

    He wrote on Instagram: “I have always spoken up about the wrongs in this country. It’s quite unfortunate that I missed elections this year.
    “However, my international shows are planned one year so as to secure the date and venue. To have changed my date on such short notice would have been a logistical hazard not to myself but to the whole crew.
