  • Good times return for Gbenga Obasanjo’s former wife

Good times return for Gbenga Obasanjo’s former wife

It is public knowledge that Moji, a former wife of ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo’s son, Gbenga,  had one of the messiest divorce cases in the nation’s legal history. As if it was not bad enough that her marriage crashed like a castle with a weak foundation, her former husband accused her of the most bizarre brand of infidelity.

But life seems to be on the bounce again for Moji. She has got another chance to seize the limelight again with the recent swearing in of her current husband, Mustapha Akinkunmi, as a commissioner in Lagos State.

Obasanjo’s son had shocked the landscape as he regaled the public with the story of Moji’s alleged romance with his father in order to get favours from him as the sitting president. Moji vehemently denied her ex-husband’s claims and wept publicly as she strove to tell whoever cared to listen that there was no iota of truth in the allegation.

Her ordeal grew worse as neither her father nor her father-in-law made any attempt to address the furore created by Gbenga’s revelations when he went to a court to file for dissolution of the marriage.

But it seems the dark days are finally over for Mojisola and her current husband appears to be what she had been hoping for.

  • Bose Adedibu gets life’s tutorials

    Bose Adedibu gets life’s tutorials

Life is regarded by many as the best institution of learning. But unlike in formal education settings where lessons are learnt before tests are conducted, life dishes out tests before it teaches lessons. Bose Adedibu would seem to have understood this better than many people as life recently taught her a lesson she is not likely to forget anytime soon.

Before the death of her husband and popularly acclaimed strong man of Ibadan politics, Chief Lamidi Adedibu, she was far from being a woman like any other. She enjoyed life to the fullest as the heartthrob of a political godfather. She understood what it meant to be courted by the lowly-placed just as she reveled in her status as the high and mighty sought favours from her husband.

But no sooner her husband died than she began to see the true colour of life as many who once paraded herself as her friends manifested not just as strangers but enemies. In friendship, ‎she found coldness and in trust, she found treachery.

As soon as the remains of her powerful husband were committed to mother earth, his friends and political associates began to desert his family and political empire, and would not want to have anything to do with the people he left behind.

The situation, we learnt, has also forced Bose to shun her late husband’s political associates, particularly those he assisted when he was alive but later turned their backs on the family.

With the theme, “Season Of a new Song”, BSS 2015 was attended mostly by ladies wearing various shades of White and Gold, colour code for the day. According to the organisers of Body, Soul & Spirit, every woman deserves a time of respite when she can indulge herself, unwind and get refreshed.

Dr. Reuben Odu, a renowned security expert who delved on the topic “Watch Your Back”, listed three major points as the reasons why certain crimes occur: the presence of a motivated offender, suitable target, and time and opportunity.

“One of the problems women have today is the mobile phones, Facebook, BBM and every other social media network,” he said.

“Women should be mindful of the information they put on their social media because people can easily access and use the information against them.”

He advised that women should be mindful of their surrounding environment at all time. Women were advised to separate their private life from their career and social life.

The event was spiced with music, comedy, exciting games, enlightening presentations, discussion forums, word ministrations, networking, sumptuous dining, takeaway gifts, and lots more. Big B and Ibironke charged the atmosphere with prause and worship which got everyone clapping, singing, dancing and having a good time. There were also lots of freebies from sponsors ranging from MTN, Nigerian Bottling Company, Stanbic IBTC Bank among others.

The icing on the cake was the ministration rendered by the guest speaker, Rev (Mrs.) Funke Felix-Adejumo, who admonished women to be proactive, and not depend exclusively on their spouses. According to her, women should be submissive but not gullible.

Body, Soul and Spirit, an annual event held every October 1 since 2007, is an initiative of gem Publications, publishers of gem WOMAN magazine. It creates an opportunity for Nigerian women to share, network, learn and get refreshed in the informal and relaxed atmosphere created by BSS, as it is fondly called.
