New lease of life for Oyin Adenuga

Oyin Adenuga, the publicity-shy daughter of Globacom boss, Otunba Mike Adenuga, is finally coming into her own as an innovative and independent young woman. She has ditched her initial reticence to become more visible on the social scene like her other siblingsPaddy, Bella and Jide. In short, Oyin has launched herself fully into high society. She now has friends among socialites and entertainers, quite unlike the past when she had a lot of reservation about making friends and mixing up.

After several years of working in the family’s conglomerate, Oyin has branched out and now runs her own business, Imaginative Buying Services (IBS), which offers her clients the opportunity to buy goods directly from the United States and other countries around the world. In essence, Oyin’s firm provides concierge shopping and customs purchase services. Thus, instead of enduring the rigour of travelling abroad to shop, shoppers can now relax while Oyin’s IBS does the shopping on their behalf.

The thirty-something-year-old graduate of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, USA, bagged her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology at 19. She had worked with Equatorial Trust Bank as a senior manager and Consolidated Oil as an executive director.

    Leke Alder in marital bliss

Pentecostal pastor and public relations expert, Leke Alder, is love struck. His heartthrob, Morenike, is skillfully playing the strings of his heart. For Leke, the saying that behind every cloud there is a silver lining can hardly be truer. His second marriage is two years old but still seems like honeymoon.

After the abrupt end of his first marriage to Omolola, it was as if the top brand consultant would never get back on the love wagon. Four years later, Venus, the goddess of love, decided to intervene in Leke’s life and he fell head over heels with elegant Morenike Popoola, a corporate brand executive. In an exclusive but classy wedding, the two became one and it appears to have been smooth sailing for the love birds ever since.

At Mo Abudu’s 50th birthday ceremony a few months ago, Leke stepped out with Morenike and their affection for each other was easy to perceive. They smiled at each other like love sick children and were so at ease that many onlookers turned green with envy.

  • Iyadunni Cole-Gbadebo, a chip off the old block

Iyadunni Cole-Gbadebo, a chip off the old block

Iyadunni Cole-Gbadebo was once a major force on the Lagos social scene. With the demands of marriage and motherhood, however, she has retreated to the back seat. Married to the love of her life, Babatunde Gbadebo, one of Oba Gbadebo’s sons, the splendour of their wedding was vastly reported by the media.

Before marriage, Iyadunni, daughter of Chief Odulate of Alabakun and Karamo Group, handled her career and social life like an expert. Although she was a top executive in Wale Babalakin’s Bi- Courtney and later a Sales Manager with North American Airlines, her social life didn’t suffer neglect.

Iyadunni is currently trying to float a new business in Nigeria. She is the CEO of Tirta Ayu, a leading traditional herbal spa situated in Lekki, Lagos. Her spa stands out for its Tirtayu therapy which focuses on caring for women’s breasts and vagina regions, otherwise called V-Spa.

  • Where is Faysal Harbs?

At his base in Ilorin, Kwara State, Chief Faysal Harb is a prominent player in the economic and social spheres. Not only does he maintain the driver’s seat in the happenings in the town, his wife, Chief Jumoke, is also a famous socialite with hands in many pies. In recent times, however, the popular businessman appears to have cut down drastically on socialising.

Faysal, once the rallying point of major social functions in the Kwara State capital, hardly attends social events these days, no matter the status. The rumour mill has attributed his absence to the fact that his businesses have fallen on hard times. He is believed to be battling with some forces that are bent on seeing him bid farewell to his chain of businesses. As such, he has committed himself wholly to pulling back his businesses from the brink.

Yet others insist that the construction expert is still as solid as he has always been financially, and that he only withdrew into privacy because he no longer attaches any importance to mundane issues. His wife, Jumoke, remains a regular face in social circles.

  • Ure Okezie slows her roll

    Ure Okezie slows her roll

Ure Okezie, who once bestrode the high society like a colossus, has suddenly gone off the radar. Fondly called Queen Ure, the last child and only daughter of the late medical practitioner, politician and former Minister of Health, Dr. J.O.J. Okezie, graced A-list events with her appealing presence. With her ex-beau and hip hop star, Soul E, constantly by her side, it was as if the gold fish was going to rock the social scene for decades, particularly after they founded a church called the Love Zone Ministry in Ikeja, Lagos.

The tides turned and Ure began to experience a bit of the other side of life. With her controversial affair with Soul E coming to an end, she retreated into solitude. She later tried to make a comeback into the glamour world through music, but her album, Porporri, failed to make any impact. Within months, her ministry, the Love Zone, also shut down.

Ure Okezie trained as a physicist and turned into a banker before she went into ministry and entertainment. After several vain attempts to salvage what was left of her social life, she seems to have faded off the limelight.

  • Siju Iluyomade’s amazing lifestyle

Christianity has evolved above the limits of conservative dress codes. Pastors’ wives are becoming fashion role models. City of David, regarded as the richest RCCG parish in Nigeria, is full of elegant women but theirs are no way near the flamboyant style of their pastor’s wife. Her pretty face is like a work of art. She drives the best of cars and wears the best of body accessories. Heads turn in admiration when she steps into church every Sunday.

  • Folasayo Akinbile-Yusuf keeps her moves under wraps

Pharmacist-turned-politician, Princess Folasayo Akinbile-Yusuf, is keeping her next political moves to her chest. The Chief Executive Officer of Musaroq Group, whose quest to better the lot of people in her constituency, pushed her into politics a couple of years back, insists she would not disclose her moves yet.

A few weeks ago, the rumour mill had it that Akinbile -Yusuf had concluded plan to join the race for the chairmanship of a local council development area and that she had been consulting with those that matter in the All Progressives’ Congress(APC).

The hugely successful business woman has, however, denied the story, saying: “The story is not true at all. For now, I have not told anyone what my ambition is. At the moment, I enjoy being a loyal member of APC and I will do everything to promote the party and ensure its success in the forthcoming elections in Alimosho.

“Becoming a local government chairperson is even the least of my ambition, and I cannot determine what I will become or the height I would attain except God orders my steps in the right direction. Only God is my compass and He would definitely guide and direct my steps when the time comes.”

It will be recalled that Akinbile-Yusuf narrowly missed the ticket to represent Alimosho Constituency 1 in the Lagos State House of Assembly in 2011, following which she was appointed Supervisory Councillor for Agric and Social Development in the Agbado/Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area.
