Nothing wrong with Omoni Oboli’s dress?

Following the backlash that followed Omoni Oboli’s outfit choice to the private screening of her movie ‘Being Mrs Elliot’ at Aso villa, the actress has defended herself saying there was nothing wrong with it.

“I styled myself and I thought the outfit appropriate because there were no vital parts showing. Sometimes the angles with which pictures are taken can portray certain things you do not have the intention of portraying” she said in an interview with The Punch.

    Do you agree with her?

  • Omawumi finally reveals identity of her baby’s father

Omawumi finally reveals identity of her baby’s father

When the media first got wind of Omawumi’s out-of-wedlock pregnancy, everyone wanted to know the father. Unfortunately, Omawumi decided to keep the details to herself and there were many reports suggesting the father to be a popular south south governor but Omawumi debunked those claims.

She welcomed her child, Emmanuella Kamillah Yusuf on Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the U.S and new reports surfaced  claiming that Tosin Yusuf, one time co-owner of Zamunda night club was in fact Kamillah’s father. All through this period, Omawumi kept mum. However, Waje, who is Omawumi’s close friend and godmother to her daughter tweeted on the 7th of May, saying:  ‘you don’t even care what your silky stories would be doing to her. Tosin Yussuf is fine and well, leave the poor girl alone. Tufiakwa!!!’

His name was on record, thanks to Waje, but there was no picture of him whatsoever. In late 2013, Omawumi herself released a blurry picture on instagram of her nuclear family that included herself, her daughter and Tosin Yussuf, with the caption ‘Thank you so much for your patience. Clearer photos and good news sooner than you know. God is always good’

    Omawumi and Family

The rumours may now go to rest, Tosin Ibrahim Yusuf is indeed the father of Omawumi’s baby and sources say Omawumi is planning on tying the knot soon. Could it be to Tosin Yusuf? We may have to wait to find out.

Tosin Ibrahim Yusuf holds a degree in Business Management and an MSc in International Business from De-Montfort University, Leicester.  He was part owner of the now defunct Zamunda night club in Lagos. He is the founding director of ‎Lloyd Gate Ltd, located in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos and he is now a big player in the real estate industry.

  • Benny Obaze lies low

    Benny Obaze lies low

Once upon a time, Benny Obaze, hugged the limelight like the butterfly courts the nectar. Even if he did not deliberately set out to be noticed, he occupied a space on the social scene that always made his presence or absence noticeable.

Just a few years ago, his name rang so resonantly in the Lagos social circle that the uninitiated would take him for a hip hop star or a public office holder with soaring popularity. But Benny was none of these. The astute business man of Igbo extraction was just a clothier with two thriving labels, Bevista and Rivista, with expansive offices in Lagos and Port-Harcourt.

Apart from stocking top-of-the range men’s wears, Benny’s Rivista was the hottest shop for fashion forward ladies. Although he still runs these fashion stores, they no longer seem to be as hot as they once were among fashion freaks and socialites.

Since he remarried a few years ago, Benny has cut down on his visibility on the social radar. He is said to be giving his all to making his home and marriage work. Obaze tied the nuptial knot with Lizzy Pirinye, an equally successful businesswoman, after his marriage with a foreigner hit the rocks. He also tried his luck with a top banker, but to no avail. These, observers say, could be responsible for the attenetion he is giving his marriage at the moment.

  • Etteh goes to school

    Etteh goes to school

When next the impeached former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Patricia Etteh, seeks elective post in the murky waters of politics, she will be doing so with a bigger certificate than she paraded during her aborted tenure as the Speaker of the House of Representatives. The woman who holds the record as the first and only female helmsman of lower chamber of the National Assembly has gone back to school.

And this time, she has not gone back to the classroom to upgrade her knowledge on hair dressing but to study Law. Patricia, who represented the people of Ayedade/Isokan/Irewole Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, is now a Law student at the prestigious Buckingham University in England.

The hairdresser turned politician, who had managed to earn a diploma from the University of Abuja, came under attacks in 2007, barely five months after she assumed office as Speaker. She got entangled in high wire politics that attended her approval of some questionable contracts. After months of pressure mounted by the Integrity Group, she finally resigned her position to pave the way for her successor, Hon. Dimeji Bankole.

  • Lekan Osifeso under pressure

    Lekan Osifeso under pressure

Chief Lekan Osifeso, the Otunba Adeshemowo in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State is not just another moneybag who throws his weight around for attention. He has carved a niche for himself in his philanthropic endeavours.

It therefore did not come as a surprise when the news filtered in that he has been under tremendous pressure from his people in Ijebu land, who have been urging him to throw his hat into the ring for an elective office.

According to information obtained by Celeb Watch, some youths and elders from his constituency recently paid him a visit in his Abuja home, urging to “please come and serve us.” The visitors were said to have told him point blank that they had come to seek his participation in the 2015 elections. The group could, however, not reach a consensus on what office they wanted him to seek.

While many of them believe that he has the clout to replace the incumbent governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, others urged him to test his popularity at the upper chamber of the National Assembly. Osifeso was said to have thanked the visitors and told them he would consult with family and friends.

  • High society mourns Henry Abebe

    High society mourns Henry Abebe

The high society was jolted on Friday, last week, with the news of the death of Henry Abebe. Nothing prepared the beau monde for the untimely passage of one of Nigeria’s most personable socialites. Abebe, former president Olusegun Obasanjo’s brother-in-law, was said to have been under the weather for some time but his health worsened a few days to his death.

He was said to have been placed under intensive care, having been diagnosed of cirrhosis, a chronic disease of the liver. His death in an Abuja hospital signaled the end of an era for a man who worked hard and lived very well. His wife, Beatrice Moemeke Abebe, has been distraught by the unfortunate incident.

Henry is the youngest child of the aged elder statesman, Dr. Christopher Abebe. He is survived by his aged parents; his wife, Beatrice; three children and three siblings: Edwin, John and Rita.

Henry had a chequered career as a top shot in Nigeria’s banking and maritime industry. He was once the Executive Director, Cabotage and Maritime Labour Services of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), having joined the services of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in 2003 as a General Manager.

  • Toyin Subair bounces back

    Toyin Subair bounces back

Toyin Subair, Lagos socialite and owner of defunct HiTV was sighted in London recently at a photography exhibition in celebration of Nigeria’s centenary. The event, which was sponsored by the Kola Aluko Foundation, paraded prominent Nigerians and friends of Nigeria based in the UK.

Although Subair strolled into the venue without an air of the flamboyance for which he was known in the past, he still was able to command the attention of many at the occasion.

In recent years, Toyin has been lying low in social affairs. He is hardly seen in public, contrary to his former ubiquitous self in the days of yore when he had the world as his oyster. He was not only a darling of political bigwigs, his signature was also highly sought after by top guns in the corporate world. His car park paraded top of the range SUVs.

Toyin lived life to the fullest until his pay television broadcast business hit the rocks less than five years after it started. He currently lives in London where his closeness to billionaire businessman, Kola Aluko, appears to have given him a new lease of life.

It is said that in London social circle, no A-list event is complete without his presence, and he mostly attends events in Kola Aluko’s company.

  • Francis Ogboro goes low profile

    Francis Ogboro goes low profile

How funny life can be. Close observers may have noticed that one of the grand patrons of high society and former Lagos Polo Captain, Francis Ogboro, has been missing from social functions in recent times. The wider the Celeb Watch has cast its searchlight for a glimpse of this once effervescent personality, the more elusive he seems to get.

The Ogarra, Edo State born fun loving socialite is no longer visible on the social radar. While no concrete reason is yet to be averred for his near zero social activity in recent times, it is said in some quarters that the multi-millionaire and former close ally of ex-head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, has been extremely busy trying to fix a K-leg developed by his business sometime last year.

Chief Ogboro had not been sighted at octane events, which used to be his pastime in years past. His most recent high profile appearance was made in March during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Yenagoa Polo Club, in the oil rich state of Bayelsa, where he exchanged souvenirs with the state governor, Seriake Dickson.

He has since recoiled into his shell.
