    A-list guests grace Mo Abudu’s new movie’s premiere

    It was a movie premiere like no other last Sunday as the high and mighty left whatever they were doing to converge on Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos venue of the premiere of the latest blockbuster from the stable of Mo Abudu’s EbonyLife Films.

    The inaugural screening of the romantic flick, The Royal Hibiscus Hotel, was the icing on the cake of a wonderful valentine-themed night of pomp and grandeur, of mesmerising costumes depicting all shades of love imaginable, of love lounges and feasts of photos and cocktails, of captivating music and culinary delights.

    The high-octane event kicked off on a stellar note with rousing musical displays from the likes of Cobhams Asuquo, Reekado Banks and Tiwa Savage. It was a night where entertainment and art met business and politics, as the biggest names from all walks of life graced the occasion.

    Among the high-profile guests were czars of industry Aliko Dangote, Femi Otedola, Herbert Wigwe, Jim Ovia and Ayo Subair; political bigwigs like Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Senator Florence Ita-Giwa, Mrs Obioma Imoke and Mrs Onari Duke and maestros of music and Nollywood acts like Rachel Oniga, Don Jazzy, Zainab Balogun, Jide Kosoko and O. C Ukeje also graced the occasion.

    After mother’s death, Olamide wears new look, set to tour Europe

    Seeming to be getting over the death of his mother hours after he celebrated his son’s birthday, hip hop act Olamide Adedeji aka Badoo, has changed his look and is set to tour Europe.

    In a picture he posted on Instagram on Sunday, he is seen with his hair weaved while donning a dark glasses.

    ‘Nothing lasts forever,’ he posted.

    Also on the weekend, the ‘Wo’ crooner announced an Europe tour he will be embarking on between February 10, 2018 and March 14, 2018. The tour will take him to European cities such as Antwerp, Instabul, Ukraine, Vienna, Palermo, Barcelona, Ludwigshafen, Brescia, Berlin, Helsinki, Torino, Cyprus, Vorarlberg/Innsbruck, Modena/Reggio Emilia and Firenze.

    The tour, powered by 03 Media Urban Ent, is coming after the singer recently had his latest single, ‘Science Student’ slammed with a ‘No To Be Broadcast’ tag by the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) which claimed it was promoting drug use, a claim earlier countered by the artiste.

    Penultimate Wednesday will remain indelible in the memory of the Erelu of Lagos, Princess Abiola Sherifat Dosunmu, as the day she was celebrated by the man she cherishes and adores. Her friend and former President Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, treated her to a superlative post-70th birthday party at the Green Heritage Resort, Obasanjo Presidential Library Complex, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    The occasion was graced by close family members and friends of Erelu Dosunmu, who clocked 70 last July and had marked the event with a week-long activities, which climaxed with a party that had juju music maestro, King Sunny Ade, on the bandstand.

    However, her 70th birthday celebration wouldn’t have held any significance had Obasanjo not hosted a party in her honour. And while the invitation cards sent out to guests had indicated that the celebration was at the behest of Obasanjo and his wife, Bola, the latter was conspicuously absent at the party.

    However, her absence did nothing to dim the gaiety of the party. The convivial atmosphere of the venue provided the much needed vista of fanfare for the high profile guests to mingle and connect.

    Obasanjo and Dosunmu are as close. Their friendship was sealed many years ago during Erelu Dosunmu’s marriage to the late Ambassador Deinde Fernandez, her second husband, having previously been married to Major Tunde Elegbede, the father of her two eldest children, but the marriage ended with Elegbede’s death.

    Ambassador Fernandez, who died in 2016, was married to Erelu Dosunmu for more than 20 years, and the union produced a daughter, Antoinette Oyinkansola Fernandez. Their marriage, though tumultuous in nature, was a well celebrated affair in the Lagos social firmament over a decade ago, The relationship took more downward slope when Ambassador Fernandez publicly requested that Erelu Dosunmu should drop his name. Consequently, the Lagos princess returned to her maiden name, Dosunmu.

    Funeral arrangements have since been announced by the family of the much-loved man who left the world unannounced at 66.‎ Brother Wuyi, as the deceased was fondly called, is survived by his wife, Mrs. Rachel Adebola Falore, children and grandchildren.

    Burial rites will be a two-legged affair taking place in Lagos and Ilésà between February 6 and 9. St Paul’s Anglican Church, Ikosi, Ketu, will play host to the night of tributes by friends on the 6th with the service of songs coming up the following day, while Tadash Citi Coloseum, Ilésà, will host the wake and final burial in the third and fourth days respectively.
