  • Abby Kuku bids time after crashed marriage

Those who insist on taking paracetamol for Abby Kuku’s headache can continue to do so as far as the young man is concerned. The son of Ogbeni Oja Bayo Kuku is not interested in entertaining sycophants in their display of second-hand sympathy over his marital status.

Abby, who was catapulted to fame when he married celebrity fashionista Funke Fowler, daughter of Nigerian Inland Revenue boss, Tunde Fowler, has been chilling in relative obscurity since the union ended, although he has not totally disappeared from the social radar. It will be recalled that barely two years after their lavish wedding in Dubai, Funke and Abby parted ways in acrimonious circumstances. Things fell apart and the centre could no longer hold following accusations of domestic abuse levelled against Abby.

Following the conclusion of the divorce proceedings recently, many are expecting the handsome dude to have another go at matrimony anytime soon. However, with the memory of his first marriage still fresh, he seems to be taking his time so as not to be twice unlucky.

  • Buba Marwa quits politics?

Many elder statesmen are faced with the conflict between love for the country and love for their reputation. They have to decide on whether they would stay on and keep contributing their quota to national development while risking overstaying their welcome or simply retire into the long night, leaving the stage for the younger ones to try their luck.

Former military administrator of Lagos State, Brig-Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), seems to have settled for the latter option. Having failed several times in his bid to become the governor of Adamawa State, he seems to have finally thrown in the towel.

Unlike many military men whose enduring images are those of brutality and rigidity, Buba Marwa was well loved by the majority of Lagosians during his time as the state’s numero uno. Operation Sweep, which he launched during his time as governor had helped to rid the state of criminal elements, while the impact of his Operation 250 Roads is still felt today on the numerous roads he helped to build or repair.

Since his retirement from military service, Marwa has concentrated more on his home state of Adamawa. Although he has repeatedly been frustrated in his governorship bid by the powers that be, he remains a loyal servant in the background, helping the state government with his experience in the art of governance.

  • Tope Sonubi celebrates 50th birthday

Going by his financial status and the influence he wields, friends of Tope Shonubi had expected a grand celebration as his 50th birthday approached. But they got the exact opposite of their expectations as Shonubi, a founding member of the Sahara Group, the energy firm which has its tentacles spread all over the oil and gas sector, opted for a simple ceremony this time.

First came a simple thanksgiving service at Syrian Mosque located in Ikoyi, followed by a pool party at his Lagos home on Banana Island, and the day was done. Up until now, some people are still expecting him to announce a grand celebration of his golden age, but the young man has swiftly moved on to continue with what he does best: making money.

  • For Rahama Indimi, a new life at 40

Rahama Indimi, estranged spouse of IBB’s son, Muhammed Babangida, and daughter of Borno billionaire and owner of Oriental Energy Muhammed Indimi, celebrated her 40th birthday on Sunday, few months after the final crash of her troubled marriage.

Clad in a dainty red dress and beaming with smiles on her radiant face, she marked the occasion with a high class party and shared the pictures on the social media.  The private dinner held in Abuja featured an array of celebrities. One of them was President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter and Rahama’s sister-in-law, Zahra Buhari-Indimi. Many others were on hand to lend colour to the event.

  • Uju Murphy savours freedom

Like a caged bird set free and which immediately spreads its rusty wings and flies to the skies to savour the sweet air of freedom, Uju Murphy has been a woman reborn in recent times. She is making giant strides in business and putting to shame those who had gone to town to spread the rumour of her ouster from the roll call of happening babes.

The light-complexioned woman has been making waves since her crashed marriage left her with her business and political career as her main concerns. Not too long ago, she bagged a doctoral degree from Great Achievers University College, Spain. Added to this is the fact that her boutique, Zarazit Collezone, is doing so well with branches now in many parts of the country. She was also the vice-presidential candidate of a political party during the 2015 elections.

All this made it to look like another lifetime since the dirt sheets feasted on the news of the breakup of her union with Murphy Uzohue on grounds of ‘irreconcilable differences’, even though they had three grown up children together. While the pretty lady has put all that behind her, she certainly is not in the mood to entertain any romantic entreaties for now.

  • Where is Toyin Subair?

Does the name Toyin Subair ring a bell? Yes, he is the guy who emerged from nowhere to take the Nigerian pay television space by storm with HiTV, which for a time gave DSTV a run for its money and almost ran the South African satellite television company out of business.

In those happier times when HiTV was at the height of its fame, Subair became the toast of the Nigerian celebrity space. He was one of the most sought after personalities around as people literally begged him to give speeches at their events.

All that changed when HiTV lost the rights to broadcast the English Premier League, the proverbial cash cow which had been the reason for the explosion in its subscriber base. This development began the downward spiral which culminated in the company’s winding up and subsequent extinction. Since then, Subair, a seasoned lawyer, became as scarce as rain in harmattan period.

He was said to have left the shores of the country for greener pastures in the United Kingdom. The handsome dude is said to be putting finishing touches to a project he has been working on for some time.

  • Titi Abubakar bounces back

While her husband enjoyed his time as the nation’s number two citizen, Hajia Amina Titi Abubakar was one of the women who dazzled the social scene with their presence. The aura of power followed her wherever she went, attracting a bevy of admirers desirous of getting the good graces of the stylish woman of means.

But then the life of influence and power came to a halt, and the fair-complexioned matriarch of the Atiku family took a break from the public eye following her husband’s exit from office, even though the latter remained on the higher rungs of the ladder of relevance.

The pet project she founded as the vice first lady was also put on the back burner. The Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF), which was borne out of her passion to combat the rising ills of prostitution and women trafficking, was one organisation that really went all out to restore the dignity of the woman in the society. Sadly, Hajia Titi’s disappearance from the social scene also affected the activities of her organisation as it did not get as much publicity as it was getting before.

The woman, whose efforts led to the founding of the National Agency for the

Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), has however returned with a big bang, having been spotted at several high profile events across the length and breadth of the country in recent times.

  • Omosede Igbinedion NOT IN A HURRY

As the daughter of the Esama of Benin Kingdom, colourful Omosede Igbinedion is not short of male admirers. But the House of Representatives member is not heeding the amorous advances that are coming her way. Rather, she is engrossed in her legislative duties.

Since her celebrated marriage to Benin prince, Akenzua, crashed some years ago, the daughter of Chief Gabriel Igbinedion has put her heart under lock and key. Such is her lack of interest in a fresh romance that even her rumoured dalliance with Ayiri Emami turned out to be nothing more than an interlude.

She lavishes her time and money on her son from her marriage to Akenzua. She regularly dresses him up in designer wears and also takes him on expensive trips abroad.

  • Chima Anyaso plans high-octane naming

Lagos ‘big boy’, Chima Anyaso, is riding the crest of joy at the moment. He has just got to see, touch and cuddle his new born baby boy for the first time since he was born a few weeks ago. So happy is the boss of Ceecon Oil and Gas that he has promised to throw the mother of all naming ceremonies to celebrate the new arrival.

It will be recalled that Anyaso’s wife, Adanna Nzeribe, a daughter of the strongman of Imo politics, Chief Arthur Nzeribe, put to bed in far away Canada some time last month. The overjoyed husband couldn’t be with her then as he was tied up in Nigeria for one reason or the other.

The bundle of joy has since been named Prince Chimeguzola Arthur-Paul Anyaso. He is the second child of the union after their daughter Princess Chimazala Joan-Chinyere Anyaso.

The couple got married four years ago at an elaborate ceremony in the UK. It was Chima’s third marriage after the first and second ones collapsed.

  • Segun Adebutu in his father’s shoes

Segun Adebutu has been proving that generosity is something that runs in his blood. Like his father before him, the boss of Petrolex Oil and Gas is fast making a name for himself as a deep-pocketed humanitarian with serious commitment to making the lot of the less-privileged better.

The son of the famed boss of Ijebu Lotto, Sir Kessington Adebutu, has been redefining philanthropy in the country through his NGO, Oladiran Olusegun Adebutu (OOA) Foundation. Since it was established last October, it has executed several projects running into millions of naira and benefiting mostly orphans and indigent youths who are being given a second chance at a useful life through the foundation’s activities.

But just as the road to hell is paved with good intentions, the highway to heaven is also marked with misunderstanding. Many, especially those who are envious of the young man’s giant strides, have interpreted his generosity as a calculated way to buy the masses’ loyalty ahead of a future entry into politics.

Close pals of the CEO/ Managing Director of Blue Bridge Global Resource Limited and Oladiran Engineering and Trade Nigeria Limited have however dismissed these claims as the handiwork of those people who are hell bent on maligning his good name.
