  • Why I was banned alongside co-actors in 2005 – Actress Omotola

Why I was banned alongside co-actors in 2005 – Actress Omotola

Actress and director, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has shared her experience of being banned by movie marketers in 2005, along with other top actors like Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, and Jim Iyke.

Speaking on Yanga FM, Omotola said the ban was due to the group’s push for better quality and higher standards in filmmaking, which didn’t sit well with some industry stakeholders.

Omotola revealed that the restriction lasted longer for her, likely because she didn’t attend a reconciliation meeting.

During this period, she said she explored other creative outlets, releasing her first music album, and focused on business ventures, including property investments.

According to her, the experience was a turning point that pushed her to grow and explore new paths, despite the setback in her acting career.

Recounting the incident, she said, “The phase started 2005 when we were banned. Marketers banned us saying our ‘wahala’ was too much and we were a bad influence on the industry because we were pushing for standards. The first 8 were me, Genevieve, Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Stella Damasus, RMD, Nkem Owoh, and one other person.

“We were 8, they just banned us. One year after they released some people because they called for reconciliation meeting and I refused to go, so they released others and extended my own. I like to direct than act, it was during that period I realised that acting all the time is not my passion, I will act because I really like the script”.

  • Strei turns emotion into motion in new single “catapult” featuring Dxtiny

Strei turns emotion into motion in new single “catapult” featuring Dxtiny

Breakout talent, Strei, officially returns with his new single “Catapult” featuring Dxtiny marking his first release of the year and the beginning of a new creative chapter. In just a short space of time, Strei has proven himself to be an artist who understands the emotional language of music.

With his new single “Catapult”, he leans further into that instinct, offering a track that feels light on its feet yet grounded in lived experience. The song captures the tension between love, expectation and possibility, wrapped in a groove that invites movement from the very first note.

“Catapult” builds on Strei’s self-coined Afromood sound, a fusion of Afro rhythms and mood driven expression that has already earned him millions of listeners worldwide. This time, the emotion is still present, but it is carried by a brighter rhythm and a playful energy that marks one of his most dance friendly releases to date.

The song explores a moment where affection becomes entangled with material expectations, and instead of confrontation, Strei responds with optimism, curiosity and charm. It is a love song at heart, but one that chooses warmth and joy over heaviness.

The collaboration with Dxtiny adds a complementary layer to the record, enhancing its conversational feel and widening its emotional reach. Recorded at Kitzo Wrld Studios, the track came together organically during a collaborative session with producer BigSpace and engineer Treasure.

The process was instinctive and fast paced, with Strei freestyling melodies before shaping them into lyrics that feel effortless and honest. Completed over two days, the song reflects the spontaneity of its creation, never overworked and never forced.

Since emerging less than a year ago, Strei’s rise has been nothing short of remarkable. With over 20 million streams, a viral debut EP that introduced Afromood to a global audience, and a growing presence across digital platforms, he has quickly positioned himself as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary Afrobeats. His ability to balance vulnerability with accessibility has resonated across borders, earning him organic support from fans and tastemakers alike.

“Catapult” feels like a natural next step in that journey. It is confident without being loud, romantic without being naive, and joyful without losing depth. As Strei continues to shape a sound that speaks to feeling as much as rhythm, this latest release reinforces his growing reputation as an artist who understands how emotion moves people, both on and off the dance floor.

‘I’m sick, homeless’ – Actor Okemesi begs for help

Actor Bamidele Tope Saint, popularly known as Okemesi, has pleaded for help over alleged spiritual attack that left him homeless and paralysed.

In an interview with colleague Tony Montana, Okemesi revealed he has been suffering for almost a year, with his condition worsening despite medical treatment.

According to Okemesi, the attack began with a severe illness that left him crippled and unable to speak or stand.

After seeking medical attention at a Hospital, Okemesi said his condition persisted, prompting him to visit an Islamic cleric for spiritual assistance.

He attributed prayers and spiritual intervention for his gradual recovery.

Appealing fans for support, particularly, accomodation, Okemesi said he is now facing homelessness, relying on church premises for shelter, and struggling to meet basic needs.

Okemesi said, “It was a spiritual attack. May God protect us from spiritual arrows. I was taken to a Hospital, and people donated to foot my bills. But we realised it was beyond the hospital when my condition worsened. That was when the people with me searched for my relatives’ numbers on my phone.

“My senior brother in Osogbo asked them to bring me to him. He picked me up from the motor park and took me directly to an Islamic cleric for a solution. It was a serious attack. I became crippled. It was the prayers from people and God’s miracles that revived me. I couldn’t talk or stand. I began to walk with crutches a few hours after the Alfa gave me some spiritual items to use the same day I arrived.

“My brother was also attacked after I left the cleric’s place to stay with him for proper care. He was involved in an accident and also had a marital crisis with his wife. I had to leave his place and started staying on church premises. I don’t have a place to sleep, I don’t have anything. In fact, it’s difficult to feed. My fans, you are the only thing left for me. Please, I need your help to get back on my feet, especially with accommodation,” he stated.
