    I won’t ’forcefully’ dance to promote a film – Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde

Veteran actress and filmmaker Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has shared her views on the growing trend of using dance to promote movies, saying she has no objection to it as long as it is natural and enjoyable.

She made the remarks during a recent appearance on TVC Entertainment, where she explained that the backlash against dance-driven promotions often arises from pressure placed on actors, rather than from spontaneous or authentic expressions.

“I’m sorry, I would not be doing the dancing. I’m very, very sorry. It’s just not me. I dance. I love to dance, I’m sure a lot of us love to dance.

“I think the problem and the reason why a lot of people are kicking back at it is because you want to dance because you feel like it, not because you have to.

“There’s a difference, okay? So there’s nothing wrong with, oh, you know, you’re promoting a movie and you guys are just having fun. That’s different,” she said.

Omotola emphasised that her job as an actor is to deliver quality performances, and marketing should be left to professionals.

“But when it becomes a chore, when it becomes, oh, this is what you have to do to even sell a movie, it’s not professional. I already did the project, You know, I should go around, you know, talk about the project, promote the project, and then let the people whose job are to distribute and do the advertising of the project to do that,” she said.

Her comments follows Kunle Afolayan’s stance where he recently stated that he wouldn’t dance to promote a movie, adding that he’d rather not produce a N1 billion film if his earnings are a mere N10 million.

Obi Cubana hosts Seyi Tinubu, harps on inclusive development, youth engagement

Businessman and philanthropist, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, has hosted Seyi Tinubu at his Abuja home.

He used the meeting to reiterate his commitment to inclusive development, national unity, and greater youth participation in Nigeria’s growth agenda.

Speaking after the visit, Obi Cubana said the development of the Southeast and the country at large must rise above partisan considerations and be anchored on competence, integrity, and constructive engagement with those in leadership.

He said, “The development of the Southeast will be an all-inclusive project, politics aside. It will only be possible with good people in positions to advise those in power and help deliver meaningful outcomes for our people.”

The entrepreneur also spoke on recent improvements in security across the South-East, noting that the relative peace witnessed during the last festive season allowed families, investors, and businesses to return home and reconnect with their roots.

According to him, the progress recorded was the result of deliberate efforts by South-East governors working with the federal government to address insecurity in the region.

“For the first time in a long while, we returned home in December and truly enjoyed Ala Igbo. This was made possible by deliberate actions that addressed insecurity. I believe strongly that our region will soon reclaim its place as an economic powerhouse of West Africa, as it has always been. Better days are ahead,” he said.

Reacting to public debates that followed his appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, Obi Cubana said he was aware of the differing opinions but maintained that meaningful change could only come through engagement.

“Regarding my recent appointment as Southeast Coordinator of the City Boy Movement, I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.

He stressed that service, integrity, and community development remain the core values guiding his activities.

“Service continues to guide me, and this new role does nothing to alter my commitment to integrity, community growth, and responsible leadership,” he added.

On the need to be actively involved in governance and policy conversations, Obi Cubana said influence was limited from the outside, noting that participation was key to achieving real impact.

“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside, so yes, here we are. A City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he said.

He also described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as a “City Boy and a man of commerce,” stressing that national development requires collective effort.

“Our nation’s leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, is equally a City Boy and a man of commerce. All of us need all of us to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he said.

Calling for unity and civility in public discourse, Obi Cubana urged Nigerians to focus on value creation rather than division.

“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now, we move,” he said.

He thanked Nigerians for their support and goodwill, reaffirming his vision for a more inclusive country.

Looking ahead, Obi Cubana said he would take further steps in 2026 to deepen youth engagement nationwide, leveraging his private sector experience to support policies and leadership frameworks that empower young people, women, children, and small businesses.

“Where enterprise meets vision and leadership is right, I will always be willing to support and advise anyone in a position of power on how to improve the lives of our youths, women, children, businesses, and future generations. That is what I stand for, progress,” he said.

Mike Abdul: Tattoos don’t dishonour body, God reads hearts

Gospel artist Mike Abdul has weighed in on the debate sparked by Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo‘s recent tattoo, saying tattoos do not dishonour the body.

In a post on Instagram, Abdul argued that tattoos were used in ancient cultures for identity, memory, status, covenant, and storytelling, and that what matters is what the tattoo represents, not the tattoo itself.

Abdul stated that tattoos don’t dishonour the body, and what dishonours a temple is not the writing on the walls, but what the mark points to.

He added that God reads hearts, not skin, and if a tattoo leads to gratitude, identity, or reverence, it serves a good purpose.

He wrote, ‘’Tattoos were used for identity, memory, status, covenant, and storytelling across ancient cultures, nothing more. Tattoos don’t dishonour the body. What dishonours a temple is not writing on the walls; what matters is what the mark points to, not the mark itself.

“God reads hearts, not skin. Ink without conviction is decoration. Ink with conviction is remembrance. If a tattoo leads you closer to gratitude, identity, or reverence, it has served a good purpose for you. Faith is not proven by unmarked skin, but by transformed lives.”

Abdul’s comments come after some Christians criticised Pastor Okonkwo for getting a tattoo, saying it dishonours the body God gave him.

  • Nigerian artists’ Grammy losses due to lack of US involvement – DJ Big N

Nigerian artists’ Grammy losses due to lack of US involvement – DJ Big N

Disc jockey Nonso Temisan Ajufo, popularly known as DJ Big N, has attributed the poor performance of Nigerian musicians at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards to their limited involvement in American music events and seminars.

In a post on his X page, DJ Big N stated that Nigerian artists’ lack of participation in US music events and their failure to join the Recording Academy’s voting body have hindered their chances of winning at the prestigious awards.

The DJ’s comments come after Nigerian musicians, including Davido, Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, Omah Lay, and Wizkid, lost to South African star Tyla in the Best African Music Performance category.

DJ Big N urged Nigerian artists to emulate multiple Grammy-winning Beninese singer Angelique Kidjo, who regularly participates in American music events and is a member of the Recording Academy’s voting body.

He wrote, “It stings deeply that so many talented Nigerians were nominated but didn’t bring the Grammy home this time. But here’s the truth: Legends like @angeliquekidjo and @YoussouNdourSN have shown us the power of being involved beyond just the award night.

“She [Kidjo] is at those seminars, those events, making her presence felt. If we want to change the game, we’ve got to do the same. Let’s step up, join the @RecordingAcad voting body, and be part of the process all year long. That’s how we truly make our mark. Better luck next year, but let’s also be there to shape it.”

He advised Nigerian music creatives and executives to join the Recording Academy as voting members to increase their influence and improve their chances of winning at future Grammy Awards.

“Yes, Nigerians are disappointed about the Grammy outcome, and I feel that too. But let’s turn that energy into action. We need more of us, Nigerian music creatives and execs to join the @RecordingAcad as voting members. That’s how we shape the narrative from the inside. Let’s get involved and make our votes count! Better luck next year”, he wrote.
