Odumodublvck weighs in on politics, race

Rapper Odumodublvck has spoken on the country’s political system and the struggles of Black people in America.

In an interview with BET,  Odumodublvck criticised the tendency of Nigerians to blame the President for every national problem, ignoring the roles of local government and state officials.

“You have a local government, you have your councillor, you have your senator, the guys that are directly in charge of you, but when anything happens, they say ‘ah, Tinubu’. You’re a small fish to the president. The guy that is supposed to take care of you is the one opposite you. But that’s what you get when you use that kind of policy to govern a people – when everybody’s sovereignty is in the hands of one man,” he said.

On politics, Odumodublvck stated that concentrating power in one person creates a system vulnerable to manipulation and corruption.

“If he’s a good man, they can take away your liberty by threatening him. What if he’s a man who waited 20 years for a child, becomes a governor, and they tell him, ‘If you don’t do this corruption, we’ll harm your daughter’? Even if he wants to help the people, he doesn’t have a choice,” he said.

He emphasised that democracy is weakened when sovereignty is in the hands of one man, and that this system can lead to problems for citizens.

“If the sovereignty is in the hand of one man, there’s a problem. I’ve said what I need to say,” he added.

On the struggles of Black people in America, the rapper urged the community to move beyond the victim mentality and take advantage of new opportunities.

He acknowledged the suffering of Black people in America but pointed out that it’s time to forgive and focus on progress.

Odumodublvck also compared the struggles of Black people in America to those in Africa, stating that the latter have faced more severe hardships, including suffering at the hands of their own people.

“We cannot deny that America is now a better place for Black people. Black people have suffered in America, yes, but it’s time to step away from the victim mentality. We now have Black-owned businesses, a former Black president, people doing well in sports – now is the time to fly”, he added.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Tuoyo Ideh has accused the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) of assaulting him during a raid at Proxy Nightclub in Lagos.

Popular Lagos socialite Pretty Mike and over 100 guests were arrested in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, during an NDLEA operation at the nightclub.

Tuoyo, who was at the club as a promoter, shared a video on his Instagram page narrating his ordeal and describing the physical and emotional pain he endured.

He said: “I’m a promoter, if you see me outside, it’s because of business I promote for different clubs.

“I have not even sat down for up to 30 minutes, all I heard was, ‘Everybody go down!’. I looked up and I saw people that wore black,  and I saw military personnel. They asked us to drop our phones, then after some time, they stood us up, checked me, checked my bag, checked every single thing from me, and they checked my socks, checked everything. They didn’t find anything at all, and asked us to go outside after 3am.

“We went outside and sat on the floor, which was humiliating, we started asking after some hours please, what is happening.

“I posted on my social media platform, and I’m like, I have been arrested by the NDLEA for no just cause, which basically was a no just cause, because I was not found with anything at all. Then after like 30 minutes, or 40 minutes, I just see a woman just came and pointed, the people just ran away from the office, and just pointed me, ‘he’s the one.’ Like five guys literally rushed towards me, they first brushed me and slapped me… and one even said, ‘Na you go post abi? Shoot him.’ They were beating me.

“As I was rolling on the floor back and forth, they were hitting me with sticks, kicking and slapping me. I was breathing so fast; I thought I was going to give up. I’ve never been beaten like that in my life.”

He captioned the video, “Nigeria finally happened to me, Everything that happened on Saturday when I was out at Proxy Lagos to NDLEA office.

“I can’t even stand or lie down properly, the pain the NDLEA officers inflicted on me after beating me like a criminal, my whole body, my legs, hands, back and my head is in so much pain, not even funny at all,” Tuoyo added.

“Yesterday I felt so helpless, the intimidation and humiliation was so much on me and everyone else present.

“We stay in a country in which our human rights are taken from us, and no single freedom of speech”.

Ozonna, son of Anambra Governor Charles Soludo, has spoken out about the criticism he faces on social media particularly from some Nigerians.

Speaking with content creator Goodybagg, Ozonna said the negative attention is a natural consequence of being visible and confident.

He said: “I think it just kind of comes with it. Anybody that is visible and confident, you are going to get hate. I am not going to apologise to them for not liking me, I am going to keep being myself”.

Ozonna emphasised that he will not change himself to please others, referencing his strong sense of self.

“I do not do this to be liked by everyone because I have a very strong sense of myself  and I am not willing to apologise for that. So I am not going to stop doing anything just because someone doesn’t like me,” he said.

  • Tim Godfrey pens open letter to the ‘labelled’

Tim Godfrey pens open letter to the ‘labelled’

Gospel singer Tim Godfrey has written an open letter to those who have been labelled, judged, and misunderstood.

In an Instagram post, Tim Godfrey shared his experiences of being labelled and judged but emphasised that Jesus never labelled people, instead choosing to love and accept them for who they are.

The singer reminded readers that they don’t have to fit into a certain mold or image to be loved by God, and that grace is available to everyone, regardless of their background or circumstances.

He referenced Romans 8:38-39, which says that nothing can separate us from God’s love, and Titus 3:5, which emphasises that salvation comes through God’s mercy, not our own works.

Godfrey wrote: “OPEN LETTER TO THE LABELED. To the one they called too much. To the one religion judged before hearing your story. To the one who stopped going to gatherings because the whispers were louder than the sermons. This is for you. I know what it feels like to be labeled.
To be misunderstood because of how you look, how you express, or how you create.

“I’ve heard the words too “worldly,” “rebellious,” “fake,” “unspiritual.” I’ve seen the stares, the distance, the disapproval. But here’s what I’ve learned. Jesus never labeled people. He loved them. He sat with the broken, touched the untouchable, and called the forgotten family.

“You may carry tattoos on your skin. You may have gold in your hair or dreads that make them stare. You may have been told you don’t fit the “Religious image.” But guess what??? Neither did Jesus. He was rejected, misunderstood, and called names — Yet He loved louder. He healed harder. He forgave deeper.

“So, to everyone who’s ever been boxed, branded, or broken or Labeled
You are seen. You are loved. You are chosen. And no matter what label they’ve put on you, Grace still has your name on it.

“(Romans 8:38-39 – “Nothing can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”). This is your reminder: You don’t have to clean up to come to Him. You come to Him, and He does the cleansing through love.
(Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us.)

“On October 31st, 2025, We’re releasing more than an album —We’re releasing a sound, a cry, a movement. NO LABEL isn’t just MUSIC
It’s a message. A reminder that grace has no dress code.
That the finished work of the Cross still covers every story, every scar, every soul.

“Because Jesus didn’t come for the perfect. He came for the real. And if you’ve ever been pushed away, Know this: He’s still reaching for you. Welcome to NO LABEL”.
