Being an artist shapes how I experience love – Tony Frank

Music and love are inseparable, each inspiring the other and shaping the hearts of those who feel deeply. For Nigerian singer Tony Frank, that connection is personal, emotional, and central to his artistry.

“Yes, I’m gonna be Frank with you, like my name, Tony Frank. Or should I say, to be Frank, it’s Tony Frank. Being an artist definitely shapes how I experience love. As a creative, I tend to feel emotions very deeply, and that reflects in how I connect with people. Love, for me, isn’t just about romance; it’s inspiration, vulnerability, and storytelling,” Tony shared.

Known for soulful songs like Call My Baby and Fall, Tony explains that both the highs and lows of love fuel his music. “Sometimes it makes the highs even more intense, because I don’t just live the moment—I also translate it into music. And the lows—heartbreak, distance, or challenges—they also become fuel for creativity. Love doesn’t just shape me as a person; it shapes my art, and my art gives me a deeper way to process love,” he adds.

Being in the spotlight comes with challenges. “Things I used to do freely, like moving around unnoticed or keeping my personal space, are different now. There’s more pressure to always be mindful of how I carry myself, both online and offline. Fame also shows you how differently people treat you. Some genuinely support you, while others are drawn to the image of success rather than the person behind it,” he notes.

Sacrifice is central to his journey. “I once sold my family’s land to promote a song with Timaya. I even put my car up as collateral. The sacrifice is worth it. Although I’m not where I want to be, I’m not where I used to be,” he says.

Tony navigates music promotion strategically: “Social media is a huge tool. I create content that connects with people and lets the music spread organically. I also build good relationships with DJs, influencers, and media houses, which reduces costs.”

Looking ahead, he hoped for a fairer system. “Nigeria has so much raw talent, but many voices are silenced because they can’t afford promotion.”

Tony Frank said that love and music are inseparable. Every note he sings and every emotion he shares is a story lived, boldly and unapologetically.

What disqualified BBNaija housemates stand to lose

After disqualification from Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), housemates are immediately evicted from the show and forfeit all prizes and privileges they won while in the house.

The housemates are required to leave the house without a farewell and the rest of the game continues without them.

Recently disqualified season 10 housemate, Faith Adewale got into a violent altercation with fellow contestant Sultana and shortly after, he was immediately removed from the house and forced to forfeit all prizes he had won.

The incident, which happened just days before the finale, served as a stark reminder of the show’s strict rules and the immediate consequences for any housemate who breaks them.

Below are immediate consequences that follow:

    1. Forfeiture of winnings: According to the housemate contract, all gifts, money, and prizes won from sponsored tasks and games are taken away. For example, after his disqualification in Season 10, Faith was made to forfeit a car he had won in a sponsored task.

    2. Mandatory immediate exit: Disqualified housemates are asked to pack their belongings and leave the house right away. Big Brother does not give them a chance to say goodbye to other contestants.

    3. No return: Unlike evicted housemates, a disqualified housemate cannot return to the house or participate in any further activities related to the season.

The Long-term aftermath for disqualified housemates is often mixed, with potential career setbacks and public backlash, but some manage to rebuild their public image and find success.

When it comes to challenges, the housemates go through the following:

    1. Public opinion: Disqualified housemates often face intense criticism and negative judgment from the public and show fans on social media.

    2. Career setbacks: Some housemates may initially face difficulty securing brand endorsements or other opportunities, as some brands may be hesitant to be associated with controversy.

    3. Building a platform: Many disqualified housemates use the publicity from their controversial exit to launch or build their careers.

    4. Post-show success: Notable examples like Tacha and Erica, who were disqualified in earlier seasons, have since achieved success in business and entertainment. They have become brand ambassadors and social media influencers with large followings.

The common reasons for disqualification are similar to those of other Big Brother franchises globally.

    The most common reasons include:

    1. Physical violence: Any form of physical aggression toward a fellow housemate is grounds for immediate disqualification. Past housemates like Faith (Season 10), Beauty Tukura (Season 7), and Tacha (Season 4) were all removed for violent behavior.

    2. Threatening behavior: Threats of violence or any behavior that makes other housemates feel unsafe is prohibited.

    3. Aggressive and abusive language: Repeated use of abusive, insulting, or confrontational language can lead to disqualification, as seen in the case of Erica in Season 5.

    4. Repeated rule-breaking: Some housemates receive strikes for minor rule infractions, such as whispering or failing to use their microphone properly. Accumulating multiple strikes can also result in disqualification.

Uti Nwachukwu reacts to BBNAIJA’s Faith’s disqualification

Media personality Uti Nwachukwu has weighed in on the altercation that led to the disqualification of Big Brother Naija Season 10 housemate Faith.

According to Uti, both parties could have handled the situation better.

He argued that it’s narcissistic to label the person who triggered the conflict as a victim and the one who reacted as an abuser.

In his view, both the trigger and the reaction are equally significant, and both individuals share responsibility for the escalation.

Uti emphasised the importance of learning to respond appropriately in such situations, particularly for young adults.

He noted that their 20s are a time for growth and learning, and encourages viewers to reflect on the situation and draw valuable lessons.

Uti clarified that his analysis is based on what he witnessed live, and he’s not taking sides but rather offering a nuanced perspective on the incident.

He wrote: “Saw this and ALL I COULD THINK OF WAS FAITH. In his own words – IT TAKES TWO. Could she have acted better – YES! Could he have handled it better – YES!

“A TRIGGER is just as grave as a REACTION. it is incredibly Narcissistic to label the one who triggered/created/fueled the situation a VICTIM and then Label the one who reacted (without hitting the other) – an Abuser.

“However, the onus is on us to learn to respond appropriately. Las las we are all human and our 20s is for Adulthood learning.

“This is not defending anyone. It’s analysing what we all watched live not internet clips. Learn the lessons and dead sentiments – this is 2025 , Let’s be guided.”

  • Patricia Obozuwa: Dedicated to proper projection of Nigeria’s image

Patricia Obozuwa: Dedicated to proper projection of Nigeria’s image

Perception and image are essential components that form our communications and understanding of life. They impact our behaviours and opinions. If not clear, it can be bad and damaging.  Over the years, Nigeria has experienced different perceptions globally and some of that hasn’t been good. Things are about to change for the better, as the Managing Director of the Nigeria Global Reputation Management Project, the country’s official initiative dedicated to shaping and projecting a powerful, positive, and unified image of Nigeria globally, Patricia Obozua is leading this commendable initiative.

The former  Vice President, Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability, Africa at The Coca-Cola, said “Nigeria’s global perception has evolved from being viewed narrowly as an oil-rich but unstable country to being increasingly recognized as a hub of creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship.”

Patricia says the biggest misconception we face is the tendency to see Nigeria from one dimension… either a nation defined solely by its challenges, or more recently, only by the explosive success of Afrobeats and Nollywood. “We need to dispel this oversimplification.” She stated.

On the primary target audience for this initiative, Patricia says the project‘s expected audiences are not fixed groups, but circles that constantly connect and influence each other. For her, a strong global reputation must be built on the solid foundation of domestic reality and pride. According to her, “Domestically, our audience includes citizens, the private sector, civil society, and the media. Nigerians must see themselves reflected positively, because national confidence is the foundation of international credibility.”

The project is powered by the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and it brings together government, private sector, and cultural leaders to align Nigeria’s national narrative with our economic and cultural realities, ultimately driving investment, tourism, and global influence.

Measurement and data analysis of the initiative is important so progress can be reported. Through a combination of quantitative and qualitative metrics, according to Patricia, this will be achieved. From tracking Nigeria’s position in recognised rankings, to measuring tone and volume of international media coverage and social discourse, and monitoring correlations with Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and tourism numbers (long-term), the initiative is ready to change the wrong narratives projected about Nigeria.

The goals of the project have been broken down to three. First is to project Nigeria’s strengths… our entrepreneurial spirit, creativity, and cultural leadership. Second is to build trust by ensuring that what is communicated abroad aligns with the progress made at home. Third is to create a coordinated platform where government, business, civil society and diaspora voices work together to tell a consistent, compelling story about Nigeria.

On likely challenges, she says the key one will be to provide balance and perspective. “I intend to address this by adopting a solutions-driven communications approach. For every story of a challenge, there is a parallel story of resilience, innovation, or progress that deserves equal attention.”

Patricia holds on to the importance of collaboration to make this work. She says the success of the project requires the active involvement of the private sector, development partners, the diaspora, and culture leaders. “International collaborations with UN agencies, multilateral banks, and global think tanks will give us reach and credibility.” Patricia narrated.

She further stated that organisations and individuals can be part of the project through amplifying positive Nigerian narratives within their global networks, joining the project’s working groups or contributing insights as a sector expert, and also partnering if your organisation has a stake in Nigeria’s global standing.

This project is powered by the NOA. The NOA provides the crucial grassroots reach to ensure Nigeria’s international narrative is authentic and reflects the domestic reality.
