Actors featured in movies but sabotaging promotion ‘wicked’ – Biodun Okeowo

Actress Biodun Okeowo has addressed two categories of people in the industry, expressing frustration with unsupportive actors and colleagues consumed by envy.

In a post on Instagram, Okeowo slammed actors who feature in movies but fail to support producers during promotions, calling them wicked and unsupportive.

She also criticised colleagues who are stingy with support, noting that she has willingly promoted many movies she didn’t feature in.

Okeowo emphasised that support costs nothing and encouraged others to be inspired by others’ progress rather than feeling threatened.

“I want to address two categories of people in my industry. First, actors who feature in movies make it difficult to support the producer when it is time for promotion. You, people, are not God. All you are showing is how wicked and unsupportive you can be.

“Second, some colleagues are extremely stingy with support for my full chest.
I can confidently say I have promoted many movies I didn’t even feature in.
I did it willingly because support costs nothing.

“But some of you are so full of hate, envy, and Iwa Oshi that supporting others feels like a burden to you. You see another person’s progress as a threat instead of inspiration”, she wrote.

She appreciated those who have shown genuine support, urging others to stop the hate and work together.

She wrote: “To the ones who show up when asked, and those who showed up without even being asked and genuinely supported, God bless you. The sky is big enough for all of us to fly. Stop the hate. Mtcheew!!!”

Regina Daniels undergoes drug test, threatens to sue amid marital drama

Actress Regina Daniels has undergone drug tests, addressing rumors and speculation with estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.

In a statement on her Instagram page, Daniels revealed that the past few months have been a challenging period, describing it as a major turning point in her life.

According to Daniels, she decided to take the test to demonstrate commitment to accountability, integrity, and peace of mind, citing the overwhelming love and support she has received from her family, friends and the public.

The actress emphasised the decision to create her own narrative, rather than being defined by others’ opinions, amidst claims that she is a drug addict.

She wrote: “The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy. one of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, “So, what are we doing next?” It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me. But here’s the plot twist…

“I didn’t drown with it. Why? Because I was carried by overwhelming love, support, patience, and understanding from my family, my friends, members of the general public. And for that, I am forever grateful. After much reflection (and a few very long conversations with myself), I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters.

“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, “Regina is a drug addict.” And honestly? I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict. I searched so hard it almost felt like I was going psychic…because surely, I must be missing something. That’s when it hit me! people often project their fears, insecurities, and negativity onto you. But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth.

“Here’s the choice we all have to make: Do you allow yourself to be defined by other people’s opinions, or do you create your own narrative? As for me, I choose the latter every single time. The same mouth that was used to spoil my name is the same mouth that will build it back up.

“This chapter of my life is now about self discovery, self growth, and becoming even more intentional about who I am and where I’m going. I thank God endlessly for His grace, His strength, and His excellence in my life..because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that He has carried me through it all. I’m still standing, still growing and just getting started”.

This development comes amidst reports of Daniels’ alleged divorce from Nwoko.

Actress Biodun Okeowo slams colleagues for ‘wicked’ lack of support

Actress Biodun Okeowo has expressed disappointment and frustration over the lack of support from her colleagues for her new movie, “December Party”.

In a video posted on Instagram, Okeowo recalled promoting many movies she didn’t feature in and reaching out to producers to send their movies for promotion.

Okeowo questioned why she’s not receiving similar support for her own project, stating she’s only received backing from a few colleagues.

She described her fellow actors as “wicked” and emphasised that support should be intentional and rooted in collective growth.

She said: “I have posted a lot of movies that I didn’t even feature in. Even though I have not produced any movie since 2013, I have been supporting people to the extent that I went to the DMs of producers to send their movies to me to promote. I have now produced my own movie (DECEMBER PARTY), but no one is supporting me.

“What is my offence to you all? Am I that bad? Only a few of my colleagues, whom I can count, supported me. It is when bad things happen to people that you post. You are w!cked.

“Favour is selective and personal. What I am talking about is support, which is intentional, professional, and rooted in collective growth. We are useful to ourselves alive… then let’s support ourselves while we are still living”.

Okeowo further thanked those who supported her, appreciating their encouragement, shares, prayers, and love.

“To everyone I asked for support and who supported me, both within the industry and beyond it, thank you. Your encouragement, shares, prayers, and love carried this journey. I do not take any of it for granted”, she added.

Skales addresses criticism over church testimony

Afrobeats singer Skales has responded to criticism over his testimony at Harvesters Church, acknowledging that his initial reaction may have been rushed but asserting his clarified stance.

In his testimony, Skales credited Barcelona star Lamine Yamal with reviving his career after his 2015 hit “Shake Body” gained renewed attention. He expressed gratitude for Yamal’s role in reigniting his music journey.

Responding to critics on X, Skales wrote, “I may have responded too quickly to the concerns raised about my crossover testimony at Harvesters Church. After sitting with it, I felt it was important to respond again. This time with more clarity and less emotion, for the sake of the Body of Christ.”

He emphasised that every believer has a purpose, whether within the pulpit or beyond, and that one’s calling outside the church is equally meaningful.

Defending his testimony, Skales highlighted that professionals—including musicians, filmmakers, athletes, and teachers—serve God through their work. Citing 1 Corinthians 12:28, he stressed that sharing God’s impact in one’s life is entirely appropriate.

Reaffirming his commitment, Skales declared his readiness to publicly share his faith, stating that as a child of God, he has no reservations about testifying to His work in his life.

“As children of the Lord, we all have our part to play. I truly believe that those who believe in the Word but are not in the pulpit do not have a lesser calling, just a different assignment. Just because something doesn’t happen from the pulpit doesn’t make it any less significant. Musicians, filmmakers, athletes, teachers, etc.

“We exist to make life lighter for others. We all function here, serving God through what we’ve been called to do. That said, I will never believe that testifying about what my God has done for me is wrong! I’m a child of God, and I have no problem sharing that with the world. 1 Corinthians 12:28,” he wrote.

NITDA, Futuremap partner on tech growth, film studio for Kannywood

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) is set to collaborate with FutureMap Foundation to transform Northern Nigeria’s creative and digital industry by providing technology capacity building and establishing a world-class film studio.

The ambitious public-private initiative is designed to align the Northern region’s creative operations with global best practices, leveraging the power of the digital economy to drive national growth.

Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, announced the intervention during a high-level roundtable with tech innovators and Kannywood stakeholders at the PRNigeria Centre for Research and Development in Kano.

Inuwa noted that filmmakers often wield more power in shaping public perception and behavioral change than political actors. He urged producers to move beyond profit-seeking and create content that inspires the next generation of tech builders.

The Director-General pledged that the agency would provide advanced infrastructure through a modern studio, incubation centers for emerging technologies, and training to enhance content quality.

Professional Film Directors Association’s President, Nasiru B. Muhammad, said the industry has struggled with an “unfriendly operational environment.” He requested NITDA’s assistance in developing AI-driven translation and subtitling software to help Kannywood films break into international markets.

Two inventions showcased at the event caught the DG’s attention: PRev, a media intelligence software developed by Shuaib S. Agaka for news monitoring, and SchoolTra, an educational technology platform by Abdullahi Sani Mahuta designed for managing student records.

Inuwa commended the developers, urging them to collaborate with other experts to increase products’ visibility and marketability on a national scale. The agency’s intervention is part of a strategy to grow the creative industry with technology and strengthen the country’s digital economy.

The roundtable underscored the NITDA-PRNigeria Centre’s long-standing partnership. Yushau A. Shuaib, CEO of Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), said the centre has trained over 2,500 journalists and students from universities, polytechnics, and secondary schools in digital skills since 2021.

As part of the 2026 roadmap, Shuaib announced plans to expand these training programs to focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. By integrating these high-tech tools into the creative and media sectors, NITDA aims to solidify Nigeria’s position as a leader in the African digital landscape.

Stakeholders agreed on practical steps to reinforce innovation ecosystems, expand digital skills, support startups, and deepen collaboration between government, academia, and industry. They also committed to positioning the Northern region as a competitive hub for technology and future‑ready talent.
