  • MI sets X FACTOR contestants in gruelling task

MI sets X FACTOR contestants in gruelling task

BECOMING a music star is no easy feat as the contestants in the Boot Camp of X Factor, the singing reality TV show sponsored by Globacom, would attest as they are currently occupied with the task of satisfying the judges for a place in the next stage.

This comes as part of measures to reduce the number of those moving into the next round by the judges.

After scaling the tasks set by two of the judges, Onyeka Onwenu and Reggie Rockstone, the lucky contestants are battling to impress the third judge, rapper MI, who gave them the unenviable job of singing one of 5 songs he said he despised the most.

While Onyeka asked them to sing one of five selected love songs to impress her, Rockstone gave the contestants only one hour to learn to sing and dance and come back to the stage to perform ‘song and dance’ at the same time. Those who impressed the two judges now face a bigger challenge of scaling the hurdle put in their way by MI.

“It is self-belief, focus and drive that have brought me this far. There are five songs I absolutely hate. I despise the songs and I don’t want to hear them in my life,” he told the contestants. “Your task is to learn one of those songs and come and try not to irritate me. I will bury my head on my table. If I look up, it means you have got my attention, if I don’t, it means you have failed the task,” he concluded.

As the contestants left the stage to begin the assignment, they wondered aloud, “how do we sing a song which MI despises in a way that he will like the song?”

Obesere dedicates album to Mike Adenuga

ACE Fuji musician, Abass Akande Obesere, a.k.a PK 1st , is set to release an album solely dedicated to appreciating business mogul and chairman of telecoms giant, Globacom. The album which was presented to Mike Adenuga a couple of weeks ago will be formally launched according to the artiste after the Ramadan period under the auspices of Moshebolatan Records, owned by the Chairman of Music Association of Nigeria (M.A.N).

This was disclosed at a press briefing on Thursday, where the artiste described Mike Adenuga as a rare gem, who obviously doesn’t know how positively he is affecting the lives of many Nigerian’s, directly and indirectly.

“A man that has done tremendously well for the entertainment industry should be duly appreciated. It’s a simple case of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. It is important that you get close to someone before you have an idea of the person. He is a man of total humility; I have been hearing and seeing the good things he has been doing. I know that one of my colleagues, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, was recently endorsed by Mike Adenuga. So many artistes out there that who never believed that they could make anything for themselves have been touched one way or the other by this same man.”

Commenting on the inspiration behind the album, he said: “With all he has done for artistes, I have not seen anyone do a song of gratitude to him, except King Sunny Ade, which was a long time ago. If he has done positive things for my colleagues, it means he has done for me too and it is only right that I appreciate him. I met Mike Adenuga at an award function where we were both awarded in different categories but his humility is what got to me.

“I did not make this album with any ulterior motive in mind. I just did it to compliment an exemplary person,” Obesere explained.

Davido: I was not arrested for spending fake currency

THE management of rave of the moment, Davido has come out to state through his publicist that the artiste was not at any point arrested in Budapest, Hungary for spending fake currency.

But on the other hand, Davido who is just about rounding up a tour of Europe was met with what is perhaps the worst case of unprofessionalism from a promoter in his career as a touring artiste when he landed in Budapest, Hungary on Friday June 21 for his Budapest stop.

The promoter in this case is known as a certain Mr Frank of Black Diamond Entertainment. To the dismay of his management, the agreements made with Davido were not met despite written and verbal assurances.

It was revealed that against their agreement, Davido and his management were given a one bedroom suite to house them during their stay in Budapest. The promoter it was reported had issues with the venue for the show. Up until the night of the performance, the venue had not been paid for and Davido’s management was informed that he might not be able to perform on the stage but it was finally sorted a few minutes to the show.

Davido and his management did not receive any direct payments from the said promoter. Infact, the promoter is yet to pay up in full Davido’s performance fees as agreed. Davido and his management team catered to their every need while in Budapest from their personal funds it was further revealed.
