Ex-Niger Delta agitators declare support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

Former Niger Delta agitators under Phases 1 and 3 of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), operating under the banner “Dennis Otuaro Door 2 Door 4 Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 (D2D4BAT)”, have pledged unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.

In a joint statement on Thursday, signed by key leaders including ‘Generals’ Aroni Oputu (National President, PAP Phase 1), Preye Ekpebide (National Chairman, PAP Phase 3), Alhaji Letugbene (National Vice Chairman, PAP Phase 3), and Emma Satu (Secretary, Abuja Chapter, PAP Phase 3), the group praised Tinubu’s governance style, highlighting his achievements across various sectors since assuming office in 2023.

Led by Dr. Dennis Brutu Otuaro, the group credited President Tinubu with promoting good governance, upholding the rule of law, and deepening democracy through his Renewed Hope Agenda. They lauded his efforts in fostering unity, peace, and economic development across the country.

The ex-agitators commended Tinubu’s proactive handling of Nigeria’s economic challenges, describing him as a patriotic leader with vision, intellect, and integrity. They also expressed appreciation for Dr. Otuaro’s appointment under the PAP, which they said reflected the president’s inclusive leadership.

Positioning themselves as a strategic political support base in the Niger Delta, the group vowed to mobilise grassroots votes to secure Tinubu’s return in 2027.

They affirmed their commitment to sustaining the president’s developmental strides and ensuring the success of the Amnesty Programme under Otuaro’s leadership.

The ex-agitators noted, “Despite the fact that there are still daunting challenges facing our nation today, we believe that with hope, dedication, perseverance and prayers, the yearnings, aspirations and expectations of all Nigerians will be met and that in no distant time, Nigeria will be great again.

“As we launch this political movement today, we, the leaders of the Dennis Otuaro (Door 2 Door) 4 Bola Ahmed Tinubu 2027 on behalf of our teeming members, extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the leaders who worked tirelessly and sacrificed their lives, time and resources to ensure the survival of Nigeria’s hard-fought democracy over years, which we are all enjoying today.

“On the auspicious occasion of Democracy Day, we give special recognition to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) for the pivotal role he played in the turbulent era of military rule when he and his colleagues in NADECO fought the military to a standstill and finally succeeded in bringing democracy back to Nigeria in 1999. Indeed, His Excellency, you are a democrat, a statesman and a national hero.

“Twenty-six years of uninterrupted democracy in Nigeria has shown that Nigeria is on the right path, compared to other African countries like Burkina Faso, Chad, Niger Republic and Mali where the military has since returned to power. It is a known fact that in these countries, the boys in Khaki have cornered their countries’ constitutional powers and wealth to themselves, but Nigeria is thriving democratically with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the driver’s seat.

“There’s no gainsaying that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s watch, Nigeria has taken giant steps through policies targeted at the economy, education, health, infrastructure, power and other key sectors, towards making Nigeria a united, progressive, developed, egalitarian and virile nation as well as pride in the comity of African nations and globally.

“Ladies and gentlemen, the Dennis Otuaro (Door 2 Door) 4 Bola Ahmed Tinubu (D2D4BAT) is a political movement which comprises people from all walks of life. It will interest you to know that this political movement cuts across all the local government areas, wards, communities and ethnic nationalities in the Niger Delta. Our Patron, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro, the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, is a political strategist and core loyalist of Mr President and believes in the continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We also applaud Mr President for the support so far given to our Patron, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro which has enabled him to function optimally as Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme. His Excellency’s commitment and support has prompted and encouraged Dr. Otuaro to effectively implement the Amnesty Programme’s core mandate, which has promoted and fast-tracked the peace and stability in the Niger Delta region.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Dr Dennis Brutu Otuaro’s visionary, innovative and pragmatic leadership, supported by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, has fostered lasting peace in our communities, creeks and on our waterways.

“The drastic reduction in criminal activities in our region, such as pipeline vandalism, oil bunkering and theft, as well as piracy, is the result of Otuaro’s deliberate effort as an agent of change and driver of President Tinubu’s policies and programmes.”

Onoh is his epitaph said that his heart was heavy to bid farewell to Onokpasa, who he said was a towering figure, a passionate patriot, and a relentless advocate for progress, mourning that Onokpasa’s cruel grip of death leaves a void that words can scarcely capture.

“As a lawyer, your intellect was formidable, your arguments razor-sharp, yet always tempered by a deep sense of justice. As a political commentator, you fearlessly spoke truth to power, especially the shortcomings of the current administration challenging the status quo with eloquence and courage.

“Your contributions to the APC Presidential Campaign Council during the 2023 general elections were not just strategic but deeply personal—a testament to your unwavering belief in a better Nigeria. Although the mood of all the loyal supporters of the administration feels the administration you gave everything, let you down.

You were a mentor to many, a friend to all, and a patriot whose love for his country knew no bounds.

My dear friend, your legacy is not confined to the roles you played or the titles you held; it lives in the lives you touched, the ideas you championed, and the courage you exemplified. Your passing reminds me of the fragility of life but also of the enduring power of a life well-lived.

The Enforcers of Good Governance (EGG), a socio-political advocacy group, has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to lift the state of emergency imposed on Rivers State following a period of political crisis.

The group, even as it reaffirmed its support for the President’s 2027 reelection bid, said the lifting of the emergency would be a symbolic and practical gift to Nigerians in commemoration of June 12.

These emerged on Monday in Port Harcourt in a communique after the expanded stakeholders meeting of the group, where it announced the launch of a nationwide grassroots sensitization campaign to mobilize support for his re-election in 2027.

The stakeholders’ meeting had in attendance representatives from across the State, including the 23 Local Government Area Coordinators, women leaders, and student representatives from seven tertiary institutions, among others.

In the communiqué signed by its National Convener, Dr. Kingsley Ogu, the group expressed strong alignment with what it described as the “renewed political momentum” shaping Nigeria’s path toward the next general elections.

The group reiterated its unwavering and unalloyed support for President Tinubu, citing his bold leadership, nationalistic policies, and commitment to democratic governance under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“We recognize his bold leadership, nationalistic policies, and unwavering commitment to democratic ideals.

“We are fully aligned with the Renewed Hope Agenda and committed to mobilizing grassroots support to secure victory for President Tinubu in 2027,” the EGG affirmed.

His actions, the group said, helped restore calm and opened the door to lasting peace.

In the spirit of national healing, the group urged the president to consider lifting the state of emergency in Rivers as a symbolic gesture ahead of June 12, Nigeria’s Democracy Day.

“The President’s decisive actions have helped restore calm and provided a path toward lasting peace.

“In light of the progress made and the ongoing reconciliatory efforts by all parties involved, we respectfully appeal to Mr. President to consider lifting the state of emergency in Rivers State.

“We believe that doing so would be a symbolic and practical gift to Nigerians in commemoration of June 12, our Democracy Day,”.

Court begins hearing of NBM suit against Edo over property demolition

The Federal High Court, Benin has commenced hearing into the case filed by a philanthropist group, Neo-Black Movement (NBM) of Africa against Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo over alleged unlawful trespass and illegal demolition of its national secretariat, situated at Oba Ewuare II Cultural Centre 7, Arena Way, Amagba, Benin City, Edo state.

NBM’s 28-man legal team led by Chief Reginald Asiuwhu, filed a suit on Wednesday, June 4, seeking justice and adequate compensation for what they described as Edo State Government gross violations of their constitutional rights to freedom of Association and illegal destruction of their property.

Representing the Edo State Government in the case were prominent lawyers Steve Okuro, O. C. Igbinedion, C. C. Chinedu, and H.A Bello SAN.

During Thursday’s court session, the Edo State Government’s legal team led by H.A Bello SAN, argued that the third defendant in the suit had not yet been properly served with court papers.

Justice Chukwu Obiozor requested evidence of service from the NBM lawyers but they were unable to produce it, citing a misplaced document.

Consequently, Justice Obiozor adjourned the case to June 16, 2025, urging both parties to come prepared with complete documentation and to adhere strictly to legal procedures.

Outside the courtroom, Chief Reginald Asiuwhu expressed strong confidence in the movement’s case.

According to him: “NBM of Africa is a charitable, non-governmental organization whose secretariat was illegally demolished by the Edo State Government”.

“Before any responsible government demolishes any property, there must be a court order. This reckless act is why we are here to challenge and declare it unconstitutional.”

Asiuwhu argued that labeling the group as a “cult organisation” was defamatory, libelous and a blanket accusation that failed to respect due process.

According to him: “Assuming, without conceding, that there are a few bad eggs in the organization, it doesn’t make the entire organization a bad one.The organization is like every other organization in Nigeria. After all, NBM is properly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) in line with Nigerian law.

“If the government had concerns, they should have reached out to the security cameras to check the activities within and around the NBM secretariat before taking any other legal steps”.

The NBM lawyer described the demolished secretariat as a “gigantic, well-furnished building” that also served the community for social events. “How then could they demolish it without notice, without giving us a chance to salvage anything, and without any fair hearing?” he queried.

He added “Edo State Government will pay heavily for what they have done. This will be the last illegal demolition they carry out,” insisting that the Edo state government would face consequences.

“We are not just fighting for NBM but for all registered organisations that could be targeted in the future.”

Dr. Sir Chukwudi Ijeoma, President of NBM of Africa Upper South East, said: “We came here to challenge this illegal demolition. We are a registered organization, and the government should recognize that,” he said.

But lawyers representing the Edo State Government declined to comment on the case.

On April 30, 2025, the Edo State Government mobilised bulldozers and staff to the international secretariat of the organisation to carry out the demolition of the entire building ,claiming it was aiding cultism .

Denial not enough. Action Collective confronts Akpabio’s Media Adviser on alleged deleted confession

The Action Collective has called on Mr. Ken Okolugbo, the Communication Adviser to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to take full responsibility for the now-deleted confessional statement he made on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, where he admitted to being part of a coordinated plan to malign Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

In a statement by the group’s National Coordinator, Mr. Teddy Onyejuwe, Action Collective said Okolugbo’s subsequent claim that his account was hacked is insufficient and lacks credibility.

The controversial post, which remained live for over an hour before being pulled down, included an emotional apology, a detailed confession of involvement in meetings in London with Sandra Duru, and allegations of phone cloning and manipulation of Senator Natasha’s voice recordings.

Okolugbo wrote that the plan, orchestrated alongside Akpabio and his associates, was a desperate attempt to discredit the senator.

He further pleaded for forgiveness in the spirit of the Eid El-Kabir celebration and wished Nigerians a happy Sallah before deleting the post and claiming a hack.

The Action Collective has raised serious doubts about the hacking narrative, asking how a compromised account could be recovered in under two hours and why the post was left active for over an hour if it was indeed unauthorized.

“You must prove your innocence. Denial is not enough. Nigerians need more than vague excuses. Where is the evidence that your account was hacked? Why did it take someone else to alert you before you took action?” the group queried.

Onyejuwe suggested that Okolugbo may have been pressured by higher political powers to retract his confession and hide behind a hacking claim.

“This reeks of political intimidation. Your confession was detailed, personal, and reflective. It bore the weight of someone seeking redemption, not a random attacker. If you were bold enough to admit your role, be man enough to stand by your words and move on with integrity,” he stated.

The group also noted the danger of using cybersecurity claims to avoid accountability, warning that such tactics erode public trust and trivialize genuine issues of digital security.

“If the post was genuine, and we believe it was, you owe it to Nigerians and Senator Natasha to be truthful. If it was not, then prove it conclusively. Anything less is unacceptable,” the statement continued.

Action Collective reaffirmed its solidarity with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and called on relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.

“Mr. Okolugbo must either present irrefutable evidence to support his claim or be prepared to answer to the public. The truth must not be buried under political pressure or digital excuses,” the statement reads.
