The founding leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, OON, has expressed deep shock and grief over the passing of Olorogun Oskar Ibru, Chairman of the Ibru Organisation, at the age of 67.
Olorogun Emerhor, a prominent Urhobo leader and industrialist, in a statement, described the death of Olorogun Oskar at a relatively young age as a monumental loss not only to the Ibru family but also to the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
While consoling the Ibru family and the Urhobo Nation, he urged his wife, children, and the entire Ibru dynasty to take solace in the impactful life that Olorogun Oskar lived, noting that his philanthropy and generosity touched many lives across society.
His statement reads: “I received with deep shock and sadness the news of the passing of my brother and friend, Olorogun Oskar Eyovbirere Ibru, a foremost industrialist, philanthropist, and illustrious son of Urhoboland, who died at the age of 67. His demise is a monumental loss, not just to the Ibru family, but to the Urhobo Nation, Delta State, and Nigeria at large.
“Olorogun Oskar Ibru was more than a successful businessman; he was a visionary leader who carried forward the enviable legacy of the Ibru dynasty with humility, grace, and uncommon dedication. Through his enterprise, philanthropy, and investments across diverse sectors, he touched countless lives and built bridges that strengthened communities and gave hope to many.
“The Urhobo Nation has lost one of its bright stars—a man who represented the values of hard work, integrity, and service. His passing at a relatively young age is painful, yet we must take solace in the impactful life he lived and the enduring contributions he made to humanity.
“On behalf of my family, I extend heartfelt condolences to the Ibru family, especially his beloved wife and children, as well as to the entire Urhobo Nation. May the Almighty grant us all the strength to bear this irreparable loss, and may the soul of Olorogun Oskar Ibru find eternal rest in the bosom of the Lord.
“Adieu, my brother and compatriot. Your legacy will remain evergreen.”
The Action Collective has called on Mr. Ken Okolugbo, the Communication Adviser to Senate President Godswill Akpabio, to take full responsibility for the now-deleted confessional statement he made on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, where he admitted to being part of a coordinated plan to malign Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.
In a statement by the group’s National Coordinator, Mr. Teddy Onyejuwe, Action Collective said Okolugbo’s subsequent claim that his account was hacked is insufficient and lacks credibility.
The controversial post, which remained live for over an hour before being pulled down, included an emotional apology, a detailed confession of involvement in meetings in London with Sandra Duru, and allegations of phone cloning and manipulation of Senator Natasha’s voice recordings.
Okolugbo wrote that the plan, orchestrated alongside Akpabio and his associates, was a desperate attempt to discredit the senator.
He further pleaded for forgiveness in the spirit of the Eid El-Kabir celebration and wished Nigerians a happy Sallah before deleting the post and claiming a hack.
The Action Collective has raised serious doubts about the hacking narrative, asking how a compromised account could be recovered in under two hours and why the post was left active for over an hour if it was indeed unauthorized.
“You must prove your innocence. Denial is not enough. Nigerians need more than vague excuses. Where is the evidence that your account was hacked? Why did it take someone else to alert you before you took action?” the group queried.
Onyejuwe suggested that Okolugbo may have been pressured by higher political powers to retract his confession and hide behind a hacking claim.
“This reeks of political intimidation. Your confession was detailed, personal, and reflective. It bore the weight of someone seeking redemption, not a random attacker. If you were bold enough to admit your role, be man enough to stand by your words and move on with integrity,” he stated.
The group also noted the danger of using cybersecurity claims to avoid accountability, warning that such tactics erode public trust and trivialize genuine issues of digital security.
“If the post was genuine, and we believe it was, you owe it to Nigerians and Senator Natasha to be truthful. If it was not, then prove it conclusively. Anything less is unacceptable,” the statement continued.
Action Collective reaffirmed its solidarity with Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and called on relevant authorities to investigate the matter thoroughly.
“Mr. Okolugbo must either present irrefutable evidence to support his claim or be prepared to answer to the public. The truth must not be buried under political pressure or digital excuses,” the statement reads.

The Presidential standard bearer of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar has condemned the delay in the declaration of results of the governorship election in Adamawa State.
Atiku warned that the delay threatens the peace of the State as the uncertainty has continued to raise undue tension among the people.
Atiku, who addressed newsmen in his Yola home on Monday afternoon, said there was no need for the delay in concluding announcement of the results as even result for the remaining Fufore LGA is ready.
“The votes have been given and uploaded on INEC platform and PDP is winning. It makes no difference when you add the Fufore result, so I see no need for the delay in concluding the process,” Atiku said.
He appealed to all people of goodwill to make INEC conclude the result collation and declare the results amd avoid putting the state in crisis.
“Adamawa is a peaceful state, but by its action, INEC has put the state on edge and this should stop,” Atiku said.
The Nation reports that results from 20 of Adamawa State’s 21 LGAs were declared before midnight of Sunday with only Fufore LGA pending.
INEC suspended collation, asking for time to address issues with the Fufore result before resuming collation by noon on Monday but as of 2pm when Atiku addressed reporters, INEC was yet to resume collation at its Yola State Collation Centre.

Sanwo-Olu wins Lagos governorship with landslide
By Raymond Mordi, Deputy Political Editor
After satisfying the constitutional requirement by having the highest number of votes and scoring 25 per cent in more than two-thirds of the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of Saturday’s governorship election.
The summary of the results announced by the Returning Officer for the election, Prof Adenike Temidayo Oladiji said Sanwo-Olu scored 762134 votes to defeat his closest challenger, the candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Gbadebo Rhodes-Viviour who garnered 312, 329 votes. Abdulazeez Adediran of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 149,805 votes.
Prof Oladiji who is also the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State (FUTA) said Sanwo-Olu won the election with a landslide; winning in 19 out of the 20 local governments. The LP flag bearer only defeated the APC candidate in Amuwo Odofin, where he secured 34,860 votes against the 17,576 votes scored by the governor. The PDP candidate could only manage a paltry 1,809 votes in the local government where 55,442 out of the registered 331,215 eligible voters turned out to vote.
Sanwo-Olu defeated Rhodes-Viviour in his local government (Ikeja) with 32,273 votes. The LP candidate got 15,174 votes in the local government, while Adediran scored 1,616 votes.
The governor also won his local government, Lagos Island, with a wide margin; 37,760 votes against his LP and his PDP’s 1,317 and 1,783 votes respectively. Governor Sanwo-Olu also won Surulere, the base of the Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
In Ojo, the local government area of the PDP candidate, the APC candidate equally posted a convincing victory. He won in Ojo with 30,7797 votes, while Jandor could only manage 3,889 votes; the LP candidate even performed better than his PDP counterpart in the council.
The election was marred by reports of violence and intimidation of voters by thugs hired by politicians to undermine the performance of their opponents in their string holds. The results of many pulling units, according to the Returning Officers of the various local governments, were cancelled due to over-voting, as well as the snatching and destruction of electoral materials by thugs.
Many observers described last Saturday’s governorship election in Lagos as the most competitive one since the return to civil rule in 1999. The perception that the LP candidate could pose a threat came in the wake of the narrow but surprising defeat of the APC presidential candidate, President-elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu, a former Lagos State governor, by his LP counterpart, Mr Peter Obi.
Like the presidential election, which took place three weeks ago, last Saturday’s election was a three-horse race involving Governor Sanwo-Olu, the LP’s Rhodes-Viviour as the closest challenger and the PDP’s Abdulazeez who is popularly known as Jandor.
One of the key features of this election is the apparent waning popularity of the former ruling party at the centre, the PDP; which trailed behind the LP in all the local governments, except Lagos Island, Epe and Badagry.
In his preliminary remarks, the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr Olusegun Agbaje said it is the wrong attitude of politicians that is responsible for the ugly trend of elections in the country. He said it is strange that politicians in Nigeria see elections as a do-or-die affair, adding that this is responsible for the malpractices often witnessed in the process despite the effort to make it free, fair and credible. Agbaje said the role of INEC is to midwife the process and to succeed the commission requires the cooperation of political actors. But this, he added, has unfortunately not been the case. The REC said with the introduction of technology everyone knows the outcome of an election by the time results move from the pulling unit to the INEC results viewing portal (IREV) and to the central collation centre. “But, they have gone to the extent of threatening my life on many occasions,” he said.

By Bassey Anthony, Uyo
The governorship/ Assembly elections took place in Akwa Ibom took place under an atmosphere of tension in some parts of the State considered as strongholds of opposition parties.
Despite the early arrival of materials in most polling units, the election was generally characterised by voter apathy.
There were also reported cases of violence and hijack of materials in some parts of the State.
Three were feared dead when uspected thugs cart away materials in Etinan
A group of armed thugs reportedly carted away materials at Ward 6 Unit 3 in Idak Eyop, Aka Etinan road Uyo.
Stranded voters at the unit said the armed thugs came in two tinted vehicles, Hilux and Bus and started shooting sporadically into air, scaring the voters who scampered for safety, paving way for them to cart away the materials to an unknown location.
The voters further said that all of them wore black and black with dark glasses. When visited the unit, it was deserted.
No official of INEC was seen while some electoral papers were seen scattered on the flood.
Three persons believed to be supporters of the Young Progresssives Party(YPP) were reportedly killed by policemen in Ibiono Ibom local government area.

Apathy in Rivers as Wike, Fubara, Lulu-Briggs, others score INEC high
Cole, Abe lament intimidation
By Mike Odiegwu, Rosemary Nwisi, Port Harcourt
The governorship and House of Assembly elections in Rivers State witnessed voters’ apathy on Saturday.
Unlike the February 25th Presidential election when voters trooped out en masse to participate in the election, most people seemed not interested in the governorship and House of Assembly poll.
Most residents in Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt and Oyigbo, the local government areas dominated by non-indigenes especially the Igbo remained indoors and within their compounds not bothered about the elections.
The roads were deserted and people were seen enjoying the game of soccer.
Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) arrived their polling units with electoral materials on time.
In most cases, the INEC officials waited for voters, who came in trickles to cast their ballots.
Some shops were seen doing businesses along many streets in the capital city while some community markets along the Chinda area of Obio-Akpor opened for skeletal business.
At Ward 9 Unit 7A, where the state Governor, Nyesom Wike, voted, INEC officials arrived early and community folks came out to cast their ballots.
The polling unit was not also as busy as it was during the presidential election as some plastic chairs kept for voters under four canopies were still empty.
Though the election was generally peaceful, skeletal reports of skirmishes and gunshots were reported in some parts of the state.
An observer, said he was surprised that the election held in the riverine areas without violence.
The observer, who identified himself as Nelson said: “The election coverage today surprised me. I went to the Kalabari axis which has about five governorship candidates in this year’s election.
“Kalabari, judging from the 2019 election experience was adjudged to be hotbed. However, I covered that area. And Thankfully, the voting process was peaceful, generally speaking.
“Apart from Asari-Toru which had delays and subsequent elections cancellation, I would say the Kalabari people have moved past their ugly experience of 2019.
There were reports of gunshots and killings at Ogbakiri, Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Wike, who voted at his Ward 9 Unit 7, Obio-Akpor scored the electoral process high.
The governor, who voted at about 11:20am, commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for improving on the electoral process.
He, however, lamented an attempt by the Director of Security in INEC to breach security in favour of the Governorship Candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Magnus Abe.
He said the seeming apathy was expected because some people felt they did not achieve their aim on February 25.
The governor said: “It is much better today unlike what we experienced in 25th of February. When the first election came, people didn’t get what they wanted, they were discouraged.
“But for whatever it is you can’t force people to go and vote. I am happy with the peaceful nature the way the election is going. It means the security agencies doing well.
“It is unfortunate because even if INEC had denied it, which is expected. I can tell you the Director of Security carried out the act because Magnus Abe is from Ogoni and the director of security is from Ogoni. I don’t want to go into details because heads will role.
“But for the director of security in such a sensitive commission to breach security is quite appalling. But we thank God the headquarters has come out to deny it and the security has notice of it. I have not had any much complain. They have done very well. They improved more than what we had in February 25th”.
But Magnus Abe dismissed the allegation of security breach as childish saying that his security details were withdrawn.
Abe alleged that th elections were marred by intimidation claiming that people were ordered to vote for the PDP. The Governorship Candidate of the Accord Party, Dumo Lulu-Briggs, scored the process high.
He said: “The process is seamless I would say at this time. I made the same assessment in the last elections, it was seamless up until 3pm. Many people have voted and there is no intimidation and harrasment.
“This morning, even though there is a lot of town criers sent out to intimidate people but from last night till now people are coming out in their number to cast their votes.
“Nobody can deny anybody their right to a chance to choose who will become their governor. They should come and cast their votes and whosoever wins, wins”. The Secretary to Rivers State Government (SSG), Tammy Danagogo, hailed the governorship and House of Assembly electoral processes in Degema Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state.
Danagogo, who spoke shortly after casting his votes in Ward 4 Unit 20, described the processes of accreditation and voting as smooth.
He said: “I thank God, just like last Election the accreditation process and infact the voting process went smooth. The BVAS here in my unit are working very well although there is one unit that they said it’s not working, but INEC officials have gone there.
“We hope that from every unit in my ward is working well with the report that I have gotten except one unit. Well naturally, everybody learn from history both the youth and security agencies they have learnt their lessons all of us have learnt our lesson.
“So, it won’t be too much of a wide thinking that that is what is influencing what is happening. Everybody knows that it doesn’t pay to be violent . It doesn’t really help anybody. it is wind that does not blow anybody any good..
“As we can see it now, so far so good if what is happening will continue like this until the collation and declaration stage then I will say that we will commend INEC”.
The Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, complained of intimidation of voters in some parts of the state.
Cole, who spoke shortly after casting his votes, said voters were told to remain in their houses if they were not ready to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He said: “Well, so far we are getting some reports of vote buying and a bit of intimidation and reports of people being warned that if they don’t vote PDP, they should write their will and they should not come out.
“So we are taking notes of these things and taking notes of the unit where that is being reported because we are going to write petition against those units where there is intimidation and threat.
“In order areas we see that election is going peacefully but we also hear reports and we need to make sure that this does not happen immediately after the voting process and counting.
“We have also gotten some reports from Asar-Toru that voting has not started at all because the electoral officers have cannot be found. There are many reports like that.
“We believe that we will still come out on top. We want to say that it’s very important that intimidation should not be part and parcel of an electoral process, people should be allowed to vote freely and vote their mind”. The Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Siminialaye Fubara, voted at his unit 8 Ward 5 in Opobo/Nkoro local Government.

Ogun: Abiodun, Adebutu in tight race
By Emmanuel Badejo
Fear seems to be gripping members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the incumbent, Governor Dapo Abiodun and Ladi Adebutu, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party are in tight race.
While many of the PDP members were celebrating their lead, some members of the ruling party in the state said the race between the duo was dicey.
As at the time of this report, the APC was leading with narrow margin in in Atan, a major stronghold of the ruling party.
Unconfirmed results across the state, however, revealed that Adetubu was leading.
PDP members, who believed Adebutu had won, were seen congratulating themselves.
But members of the APC were seen gathered in groups reviewing the election.
One of them said: “If Abiodun loses, that will be good for him because he didn’t take care of party members.’
A past Student Union Government of an Ogun State owned institute, who preferred to be anonymous, said he and many others decided to work for the PDP because Abiodun’s government has not rubbed off on them.
“We are winning this election. From the results collated across the state show that we are leading.
‘I am working for the PDP because there is no gain from Abiodun’s government.”
Some of them also alleged that former governor Gbenga Daniel’s withdrawal of support for the incumbent.
They said that development might also be responsible for the unimpressive performance of the ruling party so far.
But another APC agent, who admitted that the race tight, however, insisted that her party will win the race at the end of the day.

Angry that Binani had after all not been declared winner, the thugs went wild in the Adamawa State capital, Yola, smashing cars and inflicting injuries on motorists.
Some APC members and leaders became victims, including Binta Massi who was APC pioneer chairman in the state and was in the Senate under the party from 2015- to 2019.
Senator Binta Massi had rushed to the INEC Collation Centre on Bank Road, Jimeta, lamenting to security agents guarding the centre that her car was damaged and had bruises inflicted on her by the thugs.
The security agents had driven out of the centre with her only to find that the thugs had actually blocked the major street both ways along where the centre is located, making it impossible for road users, including party agents, observers, and other stakeholders coming to or leaving the centre.
This was a little after midnight when the collation centre had already closed proceedings till later in the morning for officials to sort out issues around the only remaining LGA to be collated, Fufore.
Disagreement stalls collation of result from Adamawa’s remaining LGA
By Onimisi Alao, Yola
Thorny issues around result of the governorship election from the remaining local government area of Adamawa State, Fufore, stalled the exercise Sunday night.
The INEC collation officers had collated results from 18 of the state’s 21 LGAs earlier in the day, went on break, and fixed 10pm to return for collation.
The officials however later announced just before 11 pm that they would suspend collation till Monday morning over ‘issues’ surrounding the remaining results.
Instantly, party agents, particularly those of the PDP, rose to reject the announcement of suspension of collation as made by the state returning/collation officer, Professor Mohammed Mele.
The agents insisted that the collation must continue, and the officials had to resume collation.
After the two LGAs of Song and Michika were announced, however, the process came to a standstill as agents and other stakeholders waited for collation of the remaining LGA, Fufore.
Our correspondent reports that the PDP agent, Dr Idi Hong, had much earlier alleged that there was an attempt to rig the Fufore election, specifically that the results were being changed to favour a particular candidate.
Collation officers and even the state Commissioner of Police, Tola Afolabi had confirmed that there had been tampering with results from Fufore but that everything was being done to correct the situation.
Up to midnight when this report was filed, the officials were still busy with the Fufore results prior to collation.
Meanwhile, results from Song and Michika indicate the following:
(19) SONG (Central Zone) PDP 24,744 APC 19,935 NNPP 1582.
The results from the 20 LGAs thus collated so far bring a total of 401,067 votes to the PDP and 366,498 to the APC.

We want cash, say voters at Yobe units
From Duku Joel, Damaturu
Some voters at Yobe units demanded cash instead of transfers at some units during Saturday’s election amid allegations of vote buying.
There was a high turnout of female voters across the state for the governorship and House of Assembly election.
Our correspondent who monitored the exercise in the southern part of the state observed a high number of female voters on queues.
Many of them were seen in units in Potiskum town, Damagum in Fune Local Government Area, and in Nangere.
In Damaturu, the state capital, our correspondent gathered that the number of women who came out was far more than their male counterparts.
Areas like Pompomari, Nayinawa, New Jerusalem, Bindigari wards all recorded high female turnout.
In the outskirts of Damaturu, neighboring villages like, Kasaisa, Katarko, Garin-Itache Gujba town, Kasachia and Buni Yadi all witnessed high female turnout of voters.
In some polling units at Potiskum, some of the female voters were overheard shouting ‘sai cash!’, ‘Baa transfer!’ (we want cash, not transfer).
The major political parties are accusing each other of engaging in vote buying as it has become increasingly difficult to alter figures.

The governor also commended the polling officers for arriving early.

‘’I’m happy that everything appears to be very peaceful and I feel this is the kind of situation we need all over the country. People exercise their franchises without hindrance, acrimony, and conflict. We are very grateful to God. INEC has done very well as far as I’m concerned. We are ready to accept the outcome of the election.’’

Voters Apathy greets Niger Gov/Assembly elections
By Justina Asishana – Minna
There is a low turnout of voters in the Governorship and House of Assembly elections across Niger state.
In Minna metropolis, in polling units in Tunga, Kpagungu, Chachanga and Bosso, fewer votes came out compared to what obtained during the Presidential/National Assembly elections.
When The Nation visited the Alhaji Baba Ahmed Agaie, Abdulsalami Garage, Audu Gunu, Limawa A and B, Nasawara A and B, Army Barracks and other polling units, there were not many people there.
Unlike the Presidential elections where traders did not open their shops, shops and food vendors opened in several parts of the State.
Election materials and officials arrived at the polling units around 8 am but by 9 am voting had started in most of the polling units.
Speaking to newsmen after casting his votes in Minna, former Niger Governor, Dr Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu said that the apathy was because the people were disenchanted with the results of the February 25.

I still have no confidence in INEC – Atiku
By Onimisi Alao, Yola
The presidential standard bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar voted in the Governorship and Assembly election just before noon Saturday, saying he still has no confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Atiku voted at his Ajiya 002 polling unit in Old GRA, Jimeta in Yola North LGA. He told newsmen that INEC performed badly during the presidential election of last month and the commission has done nothing since then to give him confidence.
“I still don’t believe in INEC. I have seen nothing up to now to believe that their performance will be better in how they handle this election than the last one,” Atiku said.
Atiku voted in the company of his wife, Titi, in the exercise to elect the next Adamawa Governor and 25 members for th the Assembly.
Governor Ahmadu Fintiri holds the governorship ticket of the PDP for the election while Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani bears that of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

BVAS has been a game-changer, says Lai Mohammed
Minister of Information and Culture Lai Mohammed described the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections as one of the most transparent and.credible elections Nigeria has ever had.
He added the introduction of the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) has been a changer in the electoral process in the country.
Mohammed said this in Oro, Irepodun local government area of Kwara State shortly after casting his vote at Oro Ward 2 polling unit 006 in the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly elections.
The election, it was observed, was characterised by low turnout in the community.
But, the Minister, attributed the seemingly low turnout to the change of polling unit venue.
He said: “It is too early to judge the turnout now at 9:45 am. I think the change of venue perhaps, has contributed for the seemingly low turnout. I hope that the party agents will continue to mobilise the electorates and enlighten them of the new change of venue of the polling units.
“What I have observed from February 25 till date is that there has been marked improvement in the performance of INEC.
On BVAS, Mohammed said that “without any doubt, the introduction of BVAS has been a game-changer. In sense with BVAS we are able to get the exact number of people who are accredited and with BVAS it is not possible for you to vote twice. Because your biometrics and facial appearance are captured.
“That explains why even though, INEC says that about 84 million registered voters are in Nigeria, but the last election showed that only about 24 million voters actually cast their votes. That is large because of the effectiveness of BVAS.
“This is to me is probably one of the most transparent and credible elections in Nigeria. That is why I get worried about the red-erring by some people I can call sad losers in the aftermath of the presidential and National Assembly elections.
“I am glad to say that some of the aggrieved parties have gone to court. That is the best thing in any election in the world. Let the court interpret what the law says.”
