  • Manhunt for mother of four over same sex allegation

POLICE in Ogun State are currently on the trail of a middle aged woman, Omolara Gbemisola, for allegedly engaging in same sex. The mother of four was said to have engaged in the unlawful act with her childhood friend and former classmate, Folake Bakare. It was learnt that the duo had been into the illicit act since 1999, before they were exposed. Sources said the two friends were fond of indulging in same sex inside Omolara’s apartment in Obantoko area of Abeokuta, whenever her husband, Jamiu Gbemisola was away on business trips.

It was learnt that Omolara‘s husband while searching her GSM phone had discovered some nude pictures of his wife and her friend caressing each other. Sources said the matter was reported to Obantoko Police Division by Jamiu’s friends, who accused him of treating the matter with levity. It was gathered that Omolara confided in her husband, after she was questioned that she had been in the game for more than two decades, promising not to engage in such act again. Impeccable sources informed that, before her recent escapade, Omolara was engaged in a similar ilicit relationship, a couple of years back, after which, she bolted to Lagos from where she moved to Benin, Edo State, to evade arrest.

However, it was learnt that rather than keeping to her promise, the Omolara and her friend continued to indulge in the despicable sexual intercourse, to the surprise of her husband’s family members who have vowed to ensure she is separated from their son. Omolara, according to family sources, had since left her husband’s home for fear of being prosecuted, leaving her four children behind, while her husband and minions of law continue to search for her whereabouts. It was also learnt that her friend, fearing imminent arrest, has since relocated from Abeokuta and her whereabouts remain unknown. Police spokesman, Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi could not be reached for comment at press time.

Fake policeman held for N75,000 driver’s licence scam

OPERATIVES of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a fake police officer and his accomplice for absconding with N75,000 under the pretence to procure driving licence for their victim. The suspects are Ahmed Patrick, 41, aka Pastor, who posed as Police Inspector and Fashina Olufemi, 37, as chief co-ordinator. Narrating her ordeal in the hands of the fraudsters, the victim (name withheld), said: “It is over a month I gave the money to them to procure driving license, tinted glass permit and vehicle plate number.

I gave Olufemi N15, 000 to procure tinted glass permit, N25,000 for driving licence and N35,000 for car number plate. They disappeared with the money. It is God who exposed them because it is my sweat. He told me that Ahmed is a police officer.’’ In his confession Olufemi admitted that he collected money from the victim but that she gave him only N10,000 for tinted glass permit and not N15.000.

He also admitted that he collected N35,000 for her car plate number and N25,000 for driving licence. On why he addressed Ahmed as police Inspector under him, he said it was all a joke meant to convince the victim. He pleaded to the victim to beg the police to forgive him. Confessing, Ahmed said: “I did not know that Olufemi told the woman that I am a police Inspector. He only told me to direct the woman to the police unit in the police headquarters GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

‘’I am married with three children and I am a native of Idoma, Benue State. I will not lie to you. The woman gave me N2,500. She said N1,500 is for my service while N1,000 would be given to them at the office to show appreciation. She did not give me the N75,000. I did not even know the woman before. ‘’I was working with More Associate Ltd, before the company folded up. I started riding commercial motorcycle. I bought the motorcycle for a sum of N45, 000. My brother assisted me with N25,000 before I bought it. He also promised to give me one of his private cars to start commercial driving until I met one Alhaja Adiba in Ikeja secretariat.

She was the one who made me to get work as a licensing agent and an errand boy to her before I entered into this trouble.’’ Contacted, a source at SIB said the suspects would be charged to court but berated the victim who claimed to be a graduate, for going to touts to produce important documents despite her academic level and exposure.

TEN of Ogun Customs Area Command have intercepted two buses loaded with 720 cartons of frozen croaker fish and three exotic cars from smugglers, who fled on sighting customs officers in Ipokia creeks. Speaking during a press briefing held at the Idiroko Area Customs Command, Customs Area Controller of Ogun State, Sani Madugu, said the command will no longer make the state safe for smugglers, whom he noted had taken their nefarious trade to the creeks in order to evade arrest. He said: ‘’Pursuant to the Federal Government policy on importation of the aforementioned items, the officers and men of Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun Command, on July 17, 2017, intercepted 721 cartons of imported croaker fish loaded in two J5 buses with registration numbers , AKD 647 XU and KJA 635 XU respectively. ‘’In addition to the above, 480 bags of imported rice of 50 kg each were intercepted along the creeks in Ipokia Local Government Area. We have also cautioned them not to open fire where there are people especially in public places, so innocent people won’t fall casualty. He noted that smugglers now use the creeks to ferry contrabands in order to avoid the prying eyes of his men saying: ‘’They have started using small boats to ferry rice and other goods through the creeks. However, the creeks will soon become unsafe for them to operate, because we are prepared more than ever before to take the battle to them whether on land or creeks.’

‘’We are currently engaging all stakeholders in the fight against smuggling activities. Although, the smugglers are now monitoring us by paying people to spy on our operations, so as to evade arrest, but some traditional rulers have been cooperating with us and we are ready to partner with all stakeholders and law abiding citizens in our resolve to collect maximum revenue for the betterment of all and to reduce smuggling to its barest minimum.’’

Death toll now three in Lagos building collapse

ONE of the artisans who worked at the collapsed building site at Ilasamaja, a Lagos suburb, Chima Joseph, has not been found, his uncle, Atamuna Okeke said yesterday. Joseph, 25, a plumber, was said to have been working with Emeka Okeke when the three-storeyed building caved in Thursday afternoon. Although emergency workers concluded their operations around 1p.m on Friday after reaching ground zero, Joseph was yet to be found. Meanwhile, two more bodies were recovered between 12:18am and 12:32 am yesterday, bringing the death toll to three, while 19 persons were rescued. Those who died were identified as Kehinde Olaniyi, Emeka Okeke and one other person.

Olaniyi, a Benin national, was identified by his twin brother Taiwo, who escaped the incident unhurt, while Emeka was identified by his uncle and boss. An inconsolable Okeke was held by rescue workers from jumping into the rubble on Thursday night. Crying in Igbo, Okeke said he left his two brothers at the site that afternoon before leaving for Festac. He said they were his brothers and were handed over to him by their parents so that he could teach them plumbing. “I have gone to Isolo General Hospital and the Mainland Hospital mortuary, where all the victims were taken to but I didn’t find Chima.

I have seen the three bodies recovered and he’s not one of them. He’s also not among those being treated at the hospital. I don’t know where Chima is as I talk with you. I am going to General Hospital Ikeja, to check if I would find him there. “What do I tell my people? These boys were given to me by my brothers to train. Where do I start from? God! Why me? “They were working together. I left both of them at the site and I went to Festac.

We all slept in the building with other workers. I was just coming back to sleep, so that we can continue our job tomorrow. I didn’t know something bad had happened. I didn’t even hear about it until I got to the site. “Death should have taken me instead. It should have taken me and left my two young boys, who are just starting life. I should have died in their place. “My people have been calling Emeka’s phone since. It’s ringing but he wasn’t picking.

The phone was inside his pocket. God! What did I do wrong?” Lamented Okeke. The Nation observed that paramedics, on the instruction of the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) Adesina Tiamiyu, took him and checked his blood pressure, before they showed him a place to sit down. Most of the victims recovered from 9 p.m had at least one of their legs amputated, with suspected spinal cord injuries.

  • Stella Monye: Son’s N20 million appeal fund grosses first N1 million

Stella Monye: Son’s N20 million appeal fund grosses first N1 million

THE N20 million appeal fund to save Stella Monye’s son, Ibrahim Onyenmchi Amusan, has grossed its first N1 million, courtesy of a kind-hearted Nigerian, who doesn’t even want his name in print! Though it is N19 million to go, in a race against time to save Ibrahim, it is a big relief for a doting mother; and a brave son, who though in pains, clings to life with hope that help would come. Ibrahim, 28, had a freak accident at 11. After many failed surgeries, he is yet to get his life back. With complications following the surgeries, the last one in India in 2014, Ibrahim now has damaged internal organs: the left kidney, the bladder and the uthera, thus needing a fresh surgery in the USA. Dr. Ayo Gomih, medical director at the Urology Centre, in Indiana, USA, in a correspondence with Ms Monye, assured that though Ibrahim’s case was complex, it was not hopeless.

Evaluating the x-rays and medical reports from Ms Monye, by Dr. A. Abolarin of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja (LASUTH), where Ibrahim obtained earlier treatments, Dr. Gomih projects Ibrahim would stay for a month in the hospital. This, he explained, was due to the complexity and the extent of damage to Ibrahim’s uretha; from the original injury and from the multiple procedures he had undergone, since the freak accident 17 years ago. The one-month stay would include a few days of pre-surgical work-up, a few days of post-surgical hospitalization and about two weeks of post-surgical office follow-up, in order to minimize possible complications.

The 11-year old Ibrahim, who lost his father at 10 in 1998, recalled the accident to The Nation, in obvious pain. He fell trying to help a school mate take his bath, so both of them could go for their afterschool evening lesson. On getting to his house, however, the boy was not ready for lack of water to take a bath. So, he asked Ibrahim to assist him turn on the overhead tank faucet. But Ibrahim slipped from the scaffolding and fell on a sharp object, which pierced his uretha.

That changed his life into a constant dash in and out of hospitals Meanwhile, Mum Stella was away on national assignment in Abuja, in company of other artistes, led by the late Christy Essien-Igbokwe, working on the theme song for the FIFA U-21 World Cup, which Nigeria hosted in 1999. She got the news of her son’s accident on the cusp of presenting the theme song to the then Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar. Stella’s mother, under whose care Ms Monye left her son, phoned to break the news.

But thinking it was a minor thing, Stella asked her to take the child to any available hospital. Ibrahim was taken to the then General Hospital, Ikeja. He was repaired at the hospital but there was a relapse, which has thrown his young life into a relay of heart-rending medical emergencies, within and outside the country. The last repair was done by Dr Quptar, at Medanta Global Hospital, Gorgon Hariana New Delhi, India, with top artistes going on a road show to raise money. But it was an umpteenth failure, causing further complications. The Nation, visiting the family, met a distraught mother and a brooding son suffused with pain, just hanging on to life, with the hope help would come soon. Ms Monye said that had been the pattern these past 17 years, since the accident happened.

“For over 17 years now, I have had to care for my son through his eight surgeries, and recoveries,” she said. “But his condition has deteriorated. He is permanently on catheter and in constant pains. And I have not really engaged in any money making ventures that could fund such procedure. I need everybody’s financial assistance now to get this done.” That then is the story of Stella Monye, whose 1984 monster hit, “Okomi Ye,” in the album, Mr. Wright, with many other hits, has added joy to the lives of other Nigerians. Now, she needs fellow Nigerians to put joy in her heart by helping to save her only son — nay, only child. Are you moved to assist this woman? From N20 million, the target is now N19 million. Here is her account detail: Stella Monye, First Bank account number 2021451638. Or you can give her a call on: 2348037305052. You can also call 08054504169.

  • I opted to steal N25m from my boss’ money because I don’t know how to whistle-blow – Security guard

I opted to steal N25m from my boss’ money because I don’t know how to whistle-blow – Security guard

A 40-year-old private security guard and self-proclaimed pastor has told operatives of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Intelligence Response Team (IRT) that he opted to steal his master’s N25 million only because he does not know how to blow whistle.

Alfred Andrew said to be on the safe side and because his boss would not give him money even when he was hungry, he decided to help himself to the said sum when he realised that he had been guarding a lot of money without knowing it.

The victim, Benedict Emmanuel, who lives at Gwarimpa Housing Estate, Abuja, was said to have realised last Saturday that some of his foreign currencies were missing, so he decided to search everyone in the house.

It was then he discovered that Andrew, his security man on a monthly salary N25,000, was in possession of an Iphone 7 whose market value was above N300,000. Other items found in his room included expensive designers clothes he had just acquired. He alerted operatives of the IRT who immediately picked Andrew up. At the police station, he was said to have confessed to the crime, saying that he lodged some of the stolen money in his bank account. A look into his account balance was said to have revealed that he had N24 million left in it. He also took the police to an apartment he had rented for his girlfriend who was also found with expensive phones she claimed were given to her by Andrew. Confessing to the crime, Andrew said he was a 40-year-old native of Bunguru village in Bauchi State. He said: “I am planning to get married but I haven’t found someone to marry.

I am a Christian and I have not seen someone that I love enough. “After my secondary education at Government Secondary School Bunguru in 1998, I went to the University of Jos where I did OND in Mass Communication and Information Technology. From there, I proceeded to Christ Embassy Jos, because my parents were serving in Jos and my father is a retired military man. I worked there for some years. “I came to Abuja in 2008 and worked as an employee of Evangelical Fire Ministry at Sani Abacha Estate. From there, I went to Dunamis Bible School.

There I got some information on how to start a ministry. I am a pastor, considering my training. “After that, I went back to Evangelical Ministry and worked with them. From there, we moved to Lanta in Plateau State because the place we were using, the owner died and his wife told me that we would leave to Lanta. My boss is from Lanta. “At Lanta he slashed our salary. I stayed with them for two years and later, I saw I could not meet up with my needs, so I relocated to Abuja. “I thought of going back to school. I started attending family worship centre at the usual introduction classes. From there, somebody linked me to one of my uncles who now linked me to my master, Emmanuel, the man I am working with. “For the past three years I have been working with him. He was paying me N25,000 for the past three years. There was a day I was sweeping and I saw a key on the floor.

I took it and tried the padlock and it opened. “I went inside and upstairs and started checking the documents. Some of the documents fell on me from the top of the wardrobe. Because the wardrobe was taller, I climbed on a chair to see what was on top of it. I noticed that there were different currencies, including South African currency. I was tempted to take some of the money. “Before then, I was hearing of whistle blowing, but I wasn’t sure who to contact. I was scared. I didn’t know who to trust. You may tell someone and the person turns things against you. Actually, what I did was wrong, because I started picking from it in bundles. They were much and some were wrapped. That was the first time I would see that kind of money except in movies. “I confirmed from someone the amount in a bundle and he said it was N130 million if converted.

I didn’t touch that one because it was sealed. I was only taking from the bundles. It has been a month now. I told myself that if I held it in my hands, it would be an exhibit. I decided to keep it in my bank account but I first changed it. “If I had any bad intention, I would have left since. I was watching my boss closely. Each time he travels out of the country, he comes back with new currencies. I’m not sure about him. I heard he is into real estate. I am not sure. “The sum I converted turned out to be N24 million. I sent N24 million to his account yesterday.

The amount in my account was N24.4 million. They collected my phone yesterday. I was together with them. They saw everything. “I bought clothes, phones and handset gadgets. I was not able to wear anyone because it was only recently. The other money I changed is in my bag. That Friday morning, the man came and ordered that nobody should go out; that his money was missing. “That was when the sister, who is a State Security Service (SSS) operative, came and checked my phone and bags. They packed everything to their room; even the ones I bought with my money.

They packed my international passport, my ATM cards, bible and everything I had because I was living with them before they handed me over to SARS. “I tried to tell SARS that day that they seized some money they saw in my room and was trying to cover it up. They said we should be going. I said but my passport is with you. I told my Oga (boss) that I would implicate him. He asked what he had done to me; that he had been good to me.

But I said his wife had not been giving me food for more than three years. It was even my own food that I gave the dog sometimes. It was part of the reasons why I did what I did. “Even the salary, according to our discussion, every four months they would increase the salary. They said they would be feeding us, but they didn’t keep to that. They even said if someone moved in, they would increase our salaries, but someone moved in and it was not increased. “It is a block of flats. He was living in one and put the others up for rent. I was telling him that I would implicate him; that I would report him to the EFCC. He told me the money was not his; that someone told him to keep it for him. That was our last talk before they picked me up. “I didn’t know who to report to. I didn’t have the number for whistle blowers.”
