  • Put an end to teachers’ strike

Put an end to teachers’ strike

Primary school teachers in Benue State have been on strike for six months. They are not happy that Governor Gabriel Suswam is denying them the enjoyment of the minimum wage package.

This is a serious issue because it concerns the education of children who are the hope of the state in terms of development.

The government should put an end to the strike by giving the teachers what they want. The package is their right, and it should be given to them.

Our children need education. They should not be turned into hawkers. The governor must send them back to classrooms.

  • Help pay these pharmaceutical companies

    Help pay these pharmaceutical companies

IN 2010, some pharmaceutical companies supplied drugs to the Oyo Stae Government. The agreement was that the payment for the drugs would be made immediately after the supply. But this did not happen.

Though the drugs were supplied during the administration of Alao-Akala, I am appealing to the present governor of the state, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, to pay the companies in the interest of justice.

Some of the representatives who handled the supply lost their jobs as a result of their inability to make the government pay.

I know that Senator Ajimobi is a kind and listening governor. He has been helping people. And I believe he will help these pharmaceutical companies out by paying their money.

  • Governor Suswam, give scholarships to non-indigenes

Governor Suswam, give scholarships to non-indigenes

I AM an indigene of Imo State, but a citizen of Plateau State. In other words, I am from Imo State, but I live in Plateau State.

The government of Plateau State is only concerned with giving scholarships to indigenes of the state.

This is not good. It is my belief that both indigenes and non-indigenes should be treated equally in this case because we all contribute to the development of the state.

Governor Gabriel Suswam should change this, if it is a state policy. He should start giving scholarships to non-indigenes who have not been benefiting from the programme.

  • Please, tar Ilogbo Road

    Please, tar Ilogbo Road

I MUST first commend the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for his efforts to give the state a new lease of life.

He has been constructing and reconstructing roads in the state. The state is certainly on the path to greatness through the efforts of this great governor.

But as I praise him for hard work, I am also begging him to tar Ilogbo Road, which is less than 10 kilometres.

Please, my good governor, do this for us to banish hardships from the lives of the residents of the area.

    Major Ajayi (rtd),

    Ilogbo Road,

  • We need dividends of democracy

    We need dividends of democracy

I WANT to use this opportunity to appeal to Abdulmalik Cheche, representing Bida, Gbako and Katcha Federal Constituency, to give us dividends of democracy in Bida, Niger State.

People of the town are not getting enough from the Federal Government, and this is retarding the economic and infrastructural development of the town.

I believe this lawmaker is working hard, but I want him to make the people of Bida happy by giving us part of the national cake which belongs to all Nigerians.

  • Governor Wada, we need a bridge at Okura-Ofante

Governor Wada, we need a bridge at Okura-Ofante

WHEN one travels from Ayigba to Ankpa in Kogi State, there is a village called Okura Sawmill.

When going to Okuta-Ofante from the sawmill, there is a bridge made of wood constructed by the Northern Sawmillers Company around 1962.

This bridge is the only link between the two communities. The bridge collapsed about 10 years ago, and this has created a lot of problems for the people of the communities.

All efforts made to put the bridge in shape were in vain. This is a matter seriously disturbing my people.

I am, therefore, calling on Governor Idris Wada to give us a modern bridge at Okura-Ofante in order to put a stop to our suffering.
