    Omosehin celebrates wife, highlights women’s role in nation building

    The Lisa of Osooro Kingdom, Dele Omosehin, has praised women as the backbone of strong communities and key drivers of national development while celebrating the birthday of his wife, Lynda Omosehin.

    Speaking in Okitipupa during the celebration, Omosehin emphasized that the strength, stability, and progress of any society are closely tied to the roles women play within families, communities, and the nation at large.

    He noted that women are central to shaping values, nurturing leadership, and driving grassroots development in Nigeria. The royal father added that empowering women is essential for sustainable development, highlighting their role in promoting integrity, unity, empathy, and social responsibility as fundamental to enduring and thriving communities.

    He said, “Women are the quiet force behind many of the successes we celebrate today. Their contributions often happen away from the spotlight, yet their impact is profound and lasting.”

    Omosehin described his wife as a woman of purpose, grace, and compassion whose life reflects the ideals of service and humanity he associates with women. 

    He noted that her commitment to family life, community support, and humanitarian causes has continued to inspire many within and beyond Okitipupa and Irele Federal Constituency.

    He added that Chief Mrs. Omosehin has consistently supported initiatives aimed at uplifting women and young people, often working quietly to create meaningful impact at the grassroots.

    According to him, her life underscores the importance of women’s leadership not only in public spaces but also within homes and communities where values are formed.

    The monarch disclosed that a modest celebration has been planned for February, when family, friends, and well-wishers will gather to honour her life, values, and contributions to humanity.

    He, however, called on leaders, institutions, and stakeholders at all levels to prioritise women’s empowerment, noting that national progress remains difficult to achieve without deliberate investment in women and the roles they play in shaping society.

    A leader of All Progressives Congress(APC) in Osun State, Chief Ayodeji Olaiya, has lauded President Bola Tinubu over the implementation of the tax reform in 2026, saying “step is critical to Nigeria’s long-term economic stability.”

    The APC leader from Osun Central Senatorial District in his New Year message added that the economic reforms are poised to bring prosperity and a brighter future.

    Olaiya congratulated Nigerians on the successful completion of the year 2025, describing it as a period marked by resilience, collective sacrifice and renewed national hope. 

    He noted that 2026 comes with strong prospects for stability, growth, and improved governance across the country with the reforms of President Tinubu. 

    According to him, “Despite economic and social challenges encountered in the outgone year, Nigerians remained steadfast and optimistic, demonstrating faith in the nation’s democratic institutions.”

    He commended President Tinubu for initiating far-reaching tax reforms, which he described as bold, strategic, and critical to Nigeria’s long-term economic stability.

    He said, “The tax reform initiatives would, in the long run, expand the tax base, promote fairness, encourage compliance, and reduce overreliance on borrowing. The reforms would empower government to invest more effectively in infrastructure, education, healthcare and social welfare programmes.

    “Our president deserves commendation for his bold tax reform initiatives. These reforms are strategic and long overdue and they are aimed at correcting structural weaknesses in our economic and revenue systems. When fully implemented, the tax reforms will transform the economy, improve transparency, and provide government with the resources needed to deliver critical infrastructure and social services to Nigerians.”

    Speaking on the political direction of Osun State, Olaiya urged citizens and residents to support the candidature of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) ahead of the August 8, 2026 governorship election.

    He described Oyebamiji as a seasoned administrator with the capacity to deliver people-oriented governance and sustain progressive ideals in the state.

    The former Managing Director of Osun State Investment Company Limited (OSICOL), Dr Tunde Faleye, has called on residents of the state to return the All Progressives Congress (APC) to government in the August 2026 governorship election, saying only progressive leadership can deliver genuine and sustainable development.

    Faleye made the call on Thursday during the distribution of food items to about 10,000 households across Ijesaland, an initiative aimed at cushioning the effects of economic hardship during the festive season.

    Speaking at the event held in Ilesa, he said Osun residents should seize the opportunity of the 2026 election to align the state with what he described as mainstream development under the Renewed Hope agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

    He urged voters to make informed choices as the state heads into an election year, insisting that a change in leadership is necessary.

    According to him, it has become imperative to remove the incumbent administration, which he claimed has “practically mortgaged the state” through what he described as unfocused and visionless policies that have set Osun back since 2022.

    “The current administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke has failed the residents of the state as seen in its palpable mal-administration and malfeasance in handling critical sectors that have become moribund since its emergence.”

    The ex-OSICOL MD noted that “for the state to experience genuine and real development, thus the state must align with the government at the centre by returning Osun to progressive fold.”

    He eulogized the shift of allegiance by other states due to President Bola Tinubu’s policies, stating that “Osun shouldn’t be an exception.”

    “God has blessed us in the state, that we now have a beacon of hope, we now have a man that has the genuine care of the people at heart, by the special grace of God with the help of God and the help of party faithful, we have been able to have a candidate in person of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebanji popularly called AMBO.

    “As we all know, AMBO is APC candidate that would take Osun to the next level, he is experienced, he is exposed, he is a man with genuine concern for development and progress of the state. AMBO is learnerd and he has been able to work both in the private and public sectors which makes him to distinguish himself.”

    Speaking on the humanitarian gesture, he said “we will distribute food items to 10,000 households, if you look at the impressive turnout, the goes beyond politics but we extend the olive to many people particularly less privileged and downtrodden in Ijesaland”, he added. 

    A royal father, Aloringbon of Ilorigbo Agede-Ijesa, Oba Abiodun Esan Makanjuola lauded the founder and leadership of the Foundation for their consistency and commitment to human development.

    The Deputy Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, has donated 120 bags of rice, N5 million, motorcycles, freezers, a 3.5KVA generator set, and other items to residents of Ife North State Constituency for the celebration of the New Year. 

    Artisans and youths of the constituency received 30 Bajaj motorcycles, 20 deep freezers and 20 generators, and a start-up grant. 

    A statement personally signed by the lawmaker, which was made available to newsmen, explained that the gesture was aimed at spreading love during the festive season, boosting economic growth in 2026, and cushioning the effects of hardship in the local government area of the state. 

    He said that the gesture was motivated by the love he has for his people to promote unity and peaceful coexistence.

    He said, “120 chickens, 100 bags of rice, and a cash support totalling ₦5 million were distributed. Earlier today, we distributed 30 Bajaj motorcycles, 20 deep freezers and 20 generators, among other items, to artisans, traders, and small-scale entrepreneurs, in a bid to strengthen livelihoods and boost productivity at the grassroots.

    “Members of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN) who are elderly and vulnerable were included in the gesture to ease the festive burden on families across the constituency.”

    The representative of CAN, Pastor John Oluwasanjo, lauded the Deputy Speaker over the gesture, describing the initiative as a true reflection of love and sacrifice.

    “This gesture captures the essence of Christmas—love, sacrifice, and care for humanity. We sincerely appreciate the Deputy Speaker for standing with the people and promoting unity across the constituency.”

    Also commending the initiative, Alhaji Ismail Adeyemi, a respected Muslim community leader, noted that the gesture transcends religious boundaries.

    The New Year celebration message was sent to all indigenes and residents by the monarch while congratulating the people on seeing the end of year 2025 and happily entering year 2026 hale and hearty 

    In the New Year message as contained in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Solomon Ayoade, the paramount ruler said, “I urge you all to be resolute on the progress and unity of Ibadanland so as to jointly realize the modern Ibadanland of our dream.

    “As for me, I have resolved to use the rest of my life to serve God and humanity as a good example for others to follow.”

    Oba Ladoja used the occasion to enjoin all Ibadan traditional title holders to key into his vision of moving Ibadan forward for the benefit of all especially in the areas of security, urban renewal, putting an end to land grabbing, resuscitation of moribund companies and preservation of Yoruba cultural heritage.

    He commended the security operatives in Ibadanland as well as Oyo State for their improved efforts in securing the life and property of the people before and during the celebration, urging them not to rest on their oars.

    Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial district, Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, has called on Nigerians to consolidate the gains of ongoing reforms and sustain support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as the country moves into 2026.

    In his New Year message to constituents and Nigerians at large, Abiru described 2026 as a year of “reflection, renewal and collective resolve,” urging citizens to deepen grassroots empowerment and expand opportunities for youths across the country.

    The lawmaker said the new year offers a fresh chance to build on progress already recorded, particularly in youth development and inclusive growth. 

    He reaffirmed his commitment to championing policies that promote economic stability and ensure development reaches “every ward, every community and every household” in Lagos East.

    “At the national level, encouraging signs of economic recovery are beginning to emerge,” Abiru said, attributing the trend to far-reaching reforms designed to stabilise the economy and lay the foundation for sustainable growth.

    He urged Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu as his administration implements critical policies aimed at strengthening the economy, improving infrastructure and expanding opportunities for citizens.

    Abiru also stressed the importance of unity, dialogue and tolerance in navigating national challenges, noting that Nigeria’s diversity remains a strength rather than a weakness.

    The Ondo Redemption Front (ORF) has recapped its activities for the outgoing year, highlighting its sustained advocacy for accountability, transparent governance, and people-centred development in Ondo State.

    At her December state of the state Address delivered in Lagos by the Chairman of the group, Comrade Ayodeji Ologun, PhD, the Co-Chairman, Comrade Mogbojuri Kayode, Esq., and the secretary Adedotun Ajulo Esq., the civic organisation said the year under review was marked by consistent engagement with governance issues through its widely known State of the State monthly press conferences.

    According to the statement, the ORF’s monthly State of the State briefings served as a structured platform for assessing government policies, public finance management, service delivery, and the overall performance of state institutions. 

    The group noted that these engagements were driven by facts, research, and civic responsibility, rather than political sentiment or personal interest.

    The ORF stated that throughout the year, it maintained a principled balance by acknowledging areas of progress while also drawing attention to lapses, inconsistencies, and governance gaps where necessary. 

    It stressed that its interventions were guided by the belief that accountability strengthens democracy and that constructive criticism is essential for responsive governance.

    Beyond its press engagements, the group said it remained committed to serving as a reasoning voice for the people of Ondo State, amplifying public concerns and reinforcing the idea that public office is a trust that must be exercised in the interest of the citizens. 

    The organization added that its advocacy was anchored on the long-term development of the state and the protection of democratic values.

    The group further reaffirmed the ORF’s commitment to the development of Ondo State, noting that its vision remains a state governed with transparency, competence, inclusiveness, and empathy, where public resources are judiciously managed and policies are evaluated based on their impact on the lives of the people.

    The group commended the people of Ondo State for their resilience, civic consciousness, and continued commitment to democratic engagement despite prevailing economic and social challenges. 

    It noted that the perseverance and participation of citizens remain a source of encouragement for sustained advocacy.

    Extending goodwill messages for the festive season, the Ondo Redemption Front conveyed warm greetings to the people of the State, wishing them peace, renewed hope, and a prosperous year ahead.

    The group urged the government to move beyond policy statements and announcements in the coming year and focus on the delivery and commissioning of visible, impactful projects for residents of the state.

    It added that the Ondo Redemption Front remains committed to acting as a watchdog for the public interest, a platform for civic engagement, and a constructive voice in public discourse.

    Looking into the new year, the ORF assured that it would remain vigilant, independent, and principled in its operations. 

    The group pledged to intensify its advocacy for transparency, accountability, good governance, and people-oriented policies, while continuing to engage government constructively and speak truth to power without fear or favour.

    The statement concluded that in the coming year, the Ondo Redemption Front will remain steadfast as a watchdog of public interest, a platform for civic engagement, and a voice of reason, committed to justice, equity, and the sustainable development of Ondo state.

    Tribunal set to deliver judgment on Ibadan North Bye-election

    The election petition Tribunal sitting in Ibadan has adjourned to deliver judgment in the petition with suit number: EPT/OY/HR/01/2025 filed by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) against the victory of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Hon. Fola oyekunle in the August 16, 2025 bye election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

    This followed the closure of parties case and subsequent adoption of their respective written addresses.

    SDP posited that the election and return of Hon. Folajimi as member representing Ibadan North federal constituency is vitiated by non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2022. 

    SDP further prayed the tribunal to cancel the bye election and conduct fresh or supplementary election in the affected polling units of the federal constituency.

    Counsel to PDP, Tunji Ogunrinde, (SAN), in his reply to the petition, also filed a notice of preliminary objection challenging the competence of the petition for petitioner’s failure to comply with extant position of the Electoral Act 2022.

    Ogunrinde, however, urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition for being frivolous, gold digging and lacking in merit.

    In a significant religious and cultural ceremony held in Ibadan, the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, His Eminence Sheikh Abdulganiyy Abubakry Agbotomokekere, has officially installed Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Iyiola as the Bashorun Musulumi of Ibadanland.

    The title, one of the highest honours within the Muslim community in the city, is reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional commitment to the growth of Islam and service to humanity.

    Dignitaries from across Oyo State and beyond gathered to witness the momentous occasion, praising Dr. Iyiola’s philanthropic work, leadership, and contributions to Islamic development.

    The Chief Imam, in his remarks, described the new Bashorun Musulumi as “a bridge between generations and a symbol of peace, progress, and religious responsibility.”

    Dr. Iyiola expressed deep gratitude for the honour, pledging to continue working for the unity, education, and empowerment of Muslims in Ibadan and beyond.

    Among the dignitaries who graced the august event are Senator Teslim Folarin, Bashorun Saheed Suberu, Chief Abiola Iyiola, Dr Azeez Adeduntan, and Barr. Akeem Agbaje.

    Foundation empowers youths, supports elderly in Lagos, Osun, Oyo

    The Okanlomo Foundation has concluded its multi-state empowerment and humanitarian intervention across Lagos, Osun, and Ibadan, Oyo State.

    The foundation reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable community development, social inclusion, and the promotion of human dignity.

    Speaking at the event, the founder of the Foundation, Oluwatosin Akinyemi, said the initiative combined youth skills empowerment with elderly welfare support, addressing economic vulnerability and social care needs in underserved communities.

    According to her, the programme was designed to create long-term impact through skills acquisition, entrepreneurship support, and targeted humanitarian assistance.

    Akinyemi said, “Okanlomo Foundation is a non-governmental organisation focused on empowering individuals and communities through skills development, entrepreneurship promotion, and social welfare initiatives.

    The Foundation programmes are aimed at providing sustainable solutions that improve livelihoods, support vulnerable populations, and contribute to the attainment of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria.

    “As part of the empowerment programme, the Foundation implemented a four-month intensive training in fashion design and makeup artistry, during which eight beneficiaries were trained and certified.

    “The training was delivered in collaboration with Phitos Glam and Anike Clothings, providing participants with hands-on, industry-relevant skills targeted at self-employment and economic independence.

    “To further strengthen sustainability outcomes, beneficiaries also participated in a comprehensive entrepreneurship and business development session facilitated by Temitayo Adewole, National Business Development Service Provider (NBDSP).

    “The session covered enterprise structuring, customer acquisition, pricing strategies, and business growth, equipping participants with practical tools to successfully launch and manage their businesses.”

    Akinyemi thanked partners, facilitators, volunteers, and supporters for their contributions to the success of the programme.

    She emphasised the importance of collaboration in achieving sustainable development, noting that the Foundation remained open to partnerships with government institutions, corporate organisations, individuals, and other non-profit bodies to scale its impact.

    “Beyond youth empowerment, the Foundation also extended its humanitarian outreach to elderly citizens. In partnership with Omojolagbe Geriatric Care Foundation, Ibadan, food items and essential gift packages were distributed to 90 elderly persons across Lagos and Ibadan.

    “The intervention was aimed at providing immediate relief while promoting dignity, care, and social inclusion for senior citizens.”

    In her remarks, the Founder of Omojolagbe Geriatric Care Foundation, Dr. Ojo Florence, expressed gratitude for the support received and commended Okanlomo Foundation for its commitment to elderly welfare.

    She prayed for the organisation and expressed hope for continued collaboration in serving the aged population.

    The Foundation noted that the initiative aligned with several SDGs, including SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).

    One of the beneficiaries, Ogunowo Valentina, described the programme as life-changing, stating that it enabled her to acquire her desired skill despite financial limitations.

    She, however, said the training has positioned her for self-reliance and economic empowerment.
