  • Oyo gives concession on 1000 metres acquisition on Ibadan Circular Road Corridor

Oyo gives concession on 1000 metres acquisition on Ibadan Circular Road Corridor

As the ongoing protest by residents affected by the Ibadan Circular Road Corridor enters its second day, Oyo State Government yesterday said it had given concessions to limit acquisitions to 150 metres, instead of 500 metres in developed areas.

The development was made known yesterday during a meeting held by the National Association of Public Affairs Analysts (NAPAA) with the Executive Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Oyo State New Towns and Cities Development Authority (OYNTCDA), Mrs. Mofoluke Adebiyi, and the media team of the governor, led by the Special Adviser on Media and Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan.

Adebiyi, a retired permanent secretary, who is the Head of OYNTCDA saddled with the responsibility of developing Ilu-Tuntun Smart City Project, which is a modern urban hub with smart infrastructure, said the government would limit the breadth of the road to 150 metres in developed portions of the corridor, while it would extend to 500 metres on either sides of the road in undeveloped areas.

She said: ‘‘There is no new acquisition. When you listen to some radio stations, you will hear them saying Governor Makinde has snatched our land. No. Governor Makinde has not acquired a metre of land from that axis since 2019.”

She said a former governor of the state, Senator Rashidi Ladoja, now Olubadan of Ibadanland, acquired 75 metres on both sides, making 150 metres for the road in 2005.

Adebiyi added that during the administration of former governor, Abiola Ajiimobi, particularly when Ibadan Master Plan was developed in 2017, the government acquired 425 metres on either sides of the road, making 850 metres and extended the acquisition to 500 metres on either sides, making a total of 1000 metres.

“So, the breadth of that road is one kilometre, which is 500 metres on either side. The road itself is 60 metres. The other part of the road is 470 on each side.

‘‘Then, government has agreed to concede 150 meters in developed areas. In undeveloped areas, the status quo 500 metres will apply. But in appropriate places, compensations will be paid,” she said.

Adebiyi explained what Global Certificate of Occupancy given by the government to OYNTCDA meant, saying: “The global CofO is to facilitate development and remove the encumbrances.

“If your property falls within the developed areas, you can still apply for your own CofO. But the OYNTCDA has overall ownership of that area, just like Ibadan Local Government Properties has control of land ceded to that agency. That is the way government makes things really easy.”

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media, Dr. Olanrewaju, said: “No part of that corridor has been given to any real estate developer. No.

“Don’t let us forget that Senator Ladoja paid compensation. In most of these cases, what we are facing is double compensation.

“All of us that come from this state, let us know that it will be a disaster if the government spends billions of Naira to build that road, and we missed the opportunity to develop that area.

‘’If the government spends over N100billion to build 110 kilometres of road, and we missed the opportunity to develop that area, generations coming will not forgive us, because it would have been a wasted opportunity, and money put to wrong use.

“If you drive from Lekki to Ajah in Lagos, look at both sides, what do you see? You will see real development. You will see companies. The companies did not just emerge, somebody saw the future, and prepared that portion of land for that particular development.

“So, if you want Oyo State to develop, if you want our children to have jobs, if we want to attract investments; the kind that will activate accelerated development in this city, we need to support the government in bringing to reality the vision of the Circular Road.”

    • Holds solidarity rally

Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has supported Dangote Refinery amid lingering crisis.

It said it was concerned that the refinery had featured in national dialogue.

Speaking with reporters during a peaceful solidarity rally in Lagos in support of the refinery, the Executive Director of MURIC, Prof. Ishaq Akintola, said: ‘’The refinery is now being endangered whenever lions in the oil unions roar.’’

He said as a human rights group, MURIC deemed it necessary to stand up and be counted among the entities ready to back the refinery in the interest of Nigeria.

He said: “Nigeria cannot afford to waste $20 billion investment that is already performing such wonders. Dangote Refinery is a money spinner. Yet, this is the same refinery the unions wish to strangle. Nigerians must not be caught napping.

“The interest of MURIC is for a greater Nigeria. Crisis in the oil sector will always affect everyone, as pump prices of fuel, transportation, foodstuff and all goods will go up once there is crisis in the oil sector. This will make life unbearable for the masses.”

MURIC demanded 100 per cent crude allocation to Dangote Refinery, total stoppage of oil importation, supply of crude oil in naira to Dangote Refinery, review of labour laws and enactment of new investor-friendly ones by the National Assembly, among others.

    Sanwo-Olu: we will defeat insecurity

…governor advocates stronger unity, lists gains of Renewed Hope Agenda

Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu yesterday said that Nigeria will defeat insecurity and others problems currently facing the country.

The governor also advocated for stronger unity, saying Nigerians should be united to surmount other developmental issues.

He said Nigerians must adopt a homegrown, local and bottom-up approach in the actualisation of state policing, local government autonomy, presidential legacy infrastructure projects connecting cities and opening up of rural areas, and other demanding issues for the development of the country.

Sanwo-Olu spoke on Tuesday at the one-day lecture marking the 65th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, organised by the Arewa Think Tank, themed “65th Year of Nigeria Independence: The Journey So Far with the Renewed Hope Agenda in View” at Arewa House Auditorium, Kaduna State.

The event, chaired by former President of the Senate and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Pius Anyim Pius, was attended by the former Governors of Osun, Ogun and Kaduna States, Chief Bisi Akande, Aremo Olusegun Osoba and Mukhtar Ramalan-Yero.

Others are the former Governor of Jigawa State and current Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, top officials of Kaduna State Government, former and current public office holders, religious and traditional leaders and captains of industries, among others.

Sanwo-Olu, who was the Guest Speaker, challenged current public office holders to build on the legacies of the founding fathers like the late Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo and other leaders, patriots and founding fathers of Nigeria, by studying their lives, their examples and learning from their successes and their shortcomings.

He said, “No one is perfect, and politics and public service are not about perfection. Instead, they are about constantly improving, fine-tuning, reforming—planting trees we might not be around to enjoy, building to leave behind a better country and a better planet than the one we inherited.

While echoing his call for stronger unity as a nation, Governor Sanwo-Olu said: “I will close with a strong message of hope and unity for these times that we are in, against the backdrop of the challenges that we are confronting as a nation, including very controversial claims from the United States government about religious persecution and intolerance.

“We will continue to affirm that Nigeria is a proudly multiethnic, multi-religious and multicultural country, where the things that bind us together are far weightier than whatever seeks to separate or divide us.

“We stand together as citizens and compatriots, firm in our conviction about our common destiny. God has put us together for a purpose, and we shall achieve that purpose without distraction or division.

“We shall defeat every challenge: poverty, hunger, and, as the President himself has assured us, terrorism. As His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reminded us earlier this week, ‘The task ahead is immense, but it is our resolve to move forward with unity and purpose, guided by the Renewed Hope Agenda to build a prosperous, inclusive and resilient Nigeria.”

On President Tinubu’s administration, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the President, in his politics and vision, taps heavily into the audacious foresight that defined Sir Ahmadu Bello’s generation, noting that “The President’s Renewed Hope Agenda is a clear testament to this foresight—and he has faithfully implemented its pledges and commitments since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.”

He said the Renewed Hope Agenda, anchored on progressive thinking and solutions, is in full alignment with the founding ideals and long-term direction of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the comprehensive agenda focuses on economic growth and diversification, security in all its ramifications (national security, energy security, food security), national infrastructure, human capital development, and governance reform.

“At the state level, APC governors are encouraged to draw from and align with these pillars in our various governing agendas. In Lagos State, for example, our THEMES+ agenda is fully aligned, emphasising infrastructure, human capital development, diversification through entertainment and tourism, security, governance reform, and social inclusion. This unity of purpose, across tiers of government, is an essential foundation for fast-tracking development in Nigeria,” he said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu said the removal of the petrol subsidy, unification of exchange rates and the introduction, passage and presidential assent to four tax acts by President Tinubu are commendable, noting that “These fiscal reforms represent a hard reset of the Nigerian system. A reset away from dysfunction, to efficiency, away from wasteful consumption, to productivity. The country now possesses a new engine that enables it to operate at its maximum capacity.

“The reform foundation of the Renewed Hope Agenda has not just been about blocking leakages; even more importantly, it is about increasing the quantum of resources available to drive real and sustainable growth and development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu, while emphasising the need for true federalism in Nigeria, commended President Tinubu for building a fair and equitable society and closing the widened inequality. He said the revenue has surged under the watch of President Tinubu, and there is now more money for governors and local government chairmen to do more work that benefits the people of Nigeria.

He said: “Mr. President is a veteran unifier and a bridge-builder, and this is self-evident from the breadth and vastness of his personal and political networks across Nigeria and even Africa. And I can very boldly say that bridge-building is what the Renewed Hope Agenda is all about as well.

“The agenda seeks to build bridges—bridges of impactful reform, of enduring development, of collective prosperity, and of equity and national unity—in Nigeria. And it is doing this with the understanding that Nigeria is a large and diverse country, comprising various regions that must be allowed to advance in a way that is compatible with their specific contexts and circumstances.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that: “Having been Governor, President Tinubu not only knows what it is to run a subnational government—he also understands very deeply the role that state and local governments play in actualising national development. This is why he has put so much focus on empowering those two tiers of government. Between 2023 and 2024, federal allocations to state governments grew by a whopping 65 per cent—i.e., almost two-thirds—while those to local governments grew by 47 per cent—i.e., almost half.

“That pattern has continued to date and is set to grow even further from 2026, with the new tax laws which have reduced the Federal Government’s share of VAT from 15 per cent to 10 per cent, while raising the share for states and local government areas to 55 per cent and 35 per cent, respectively. Yet another demonstration of the lengths to which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will go to take decisions for the collective good, and not personal gain.

“For the local governments, he took the matter of their financial autonomy to the Supreme Court and made a convincing case that secured a historic judgement in favour of local governments. He is equally committed to ensuring the full implementation of this financial autonomy for this tier of government that is closest to the needs and aspirations and desires of the Nigerian people.

“The tireless reformer that he is, the President is now on a quest to extend the reforms and restructuring to Nigeria’s security architecture in a manner that has never been seen since 1960. I am referring here to the issue of State Policing— which is most accurately described as an arrangement that empowers state governments to have a greater say in the security of their states and local communities.

“When the President sets out to achieve a fundamental reform, we know that, regardless of all the odds and challenges, he will—working with and carrying along all stakeholders—achieve his objectives.”

  • Oba Elerinmo ordained senior special apostle C&S movement church

Oba Elerinmo ordained senior special apostle C&S movement church

…says a prophecy of royal priesthood is fulfilled

In a moment of divine fulfillment and historical significance, His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Michael Adeyobiojo Odunayo Adeagbo Ajayi, Arowotawaya II, the Elerinmo of Erinmo-Ijesa, was ordained as a Senior Special Apostle of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church Worldwide on Sunday, November 9, 2025.

The sacred ordination was one of the highlights of the 85th International Conference and Convention of the Church, themed “My Year of Great Mercy,” held at Galilee Land, Orile-Igbon International Headquarters.

The atmosphere was filled with divine presence, praises, and heartfelt gratitude as faithful from across the world gathered to witness the spiritual elevation of one of the church’s most illustrious sons.

The event was presided over by His Most Eminence, Prophet (Dr.) Emmanuel Abiodun Alogbo, the Supreme Head (Olori) of the Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church Worldwide.

Under his spiritual leadership, Oba Ajayi grew up with his parents in the church, which continues to thrive as a beacon of holiness, unity, and evangelism.

His Most Eminence Prophet Alogbo praised Oba Ajayi for his steadfast faith, humility, and unwavering commitment to both spiritual and humanitarian service. He described the monarch as “a royal father with a priestly heart,” whose dedication to God’s work has been evident long before his ascension to the throne of Erinmo-Ijesa.

Oba Ajayi shared a deeply moving reflection on his lifelong walk with God and the prophecy that shaped his destiny.

He recounted how, over 50 years ago, as a young boy attending the Sabo/Oko Oba District of the church at Oyadiran Estate, Yaba, Lagos with his parents, he was nurtured in the ways of the Lord through the doctrines of the Cherubim and Seraphim.

He narrated a prophetic encounter from more than four decades ago, “When I was just 14 years old, an aged prophet, standing before my mother and me, told me that he saw me wearing a golden crown and a Bishop’s cap. At the time, he admitted he could not understand how one could be both King and priest. But today, that prophecy of royal priesthood has been divinely fulfilled — both as a King and now as a Senior Special Apostle. Truly, God’s words never fail.”

The ordination symbolises the union of divine grace and royal authority, marking a rare and profound convergence of kingship and priesthood. It underscores the monarch’s calling not only to rule but also to shepherd — leading with wisdom, compassion, and spiritual integrity.

This is especially significant as Erinmo hosts the world-acclaimed spiritual mountain Ori-Oke Agbara Emi Mimo (better known as Ori-Oke Erinmo), to which thousands of people throng daily. Erinmo has been recognized as the Jerusalem of Africa, attracting dignitaries worldwide. Under his reign, Erinmo-Ijesa has witnessed significant transformation marked by peace, community development, and spiritual revival.

His Majesty has been a consistent voice for youth empowerment, moral reawakening, and interfaith harmony, embodying the timeless virtues of love, justice, and service.

His great-grandfather was one of the most powerful kings of his time and remains the most prominent and wealthiest Elerinmo.

His era witnessed extensive cultural renaissance and encouraged religious harmony, leading to the establishment of St. Peter’s Anglican Church as the first church in Erinmo around 1908 during his reign. He was notably the first king in the area to host European visitors in Erinmo, earning the appellation “Arowotawaya Bi Oyinbo,” a title now adopted by Oba Odunayo Ajayi, who has earnestly continued that legacy of excellence.

Oba Arowotawaya II has been greatly inspired by his grandparents, who were founding figures and the first Baba Ijo of the Christ Apostolic Church Oke Isegun Headquarters in Erinmo. They offered their home as a place of worship before the construction of the magnificent cathedral in Erinmo. The ordination ceremony attracted numerous dignitaries, clergy, and well-wishers who converged at Galilee Land to celebrate this divine elevation.

The event was marked by worship, thanksgiving, and prophetic declarations of greater grace upon His Majesty’s life and ministry.

Regarding the newly ordained Senior Special Apostle of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, the ordination affirms the almightiness and supremacy of God as the King of Kings, who, under His divine grace, crowned him as a traditional king and a shepherd of the flock.

This was manifested at the 85th international conference of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church. It is an attestation to a prophecy foretold in both his maternal and paternal homes before he was born.

Elerinmo has pledged to continue dedicating his reign to God’s glory, promoting peace and righteousness, and serving humanity through purpose-driven leadership.

According to him, “This ordination is not just a title, but a call to deeper service, to be a vessel of mercy in this generation. I will continue to uphold the banner of Christ and use every platform, royal and spiritual, to positively impact lives.”

As a revered cultural icon and exemplary monarch, Oba Michael Adeagbo Adeyobiojo Odunayo Ajayi is a natural king who consistently demonstrates a deep understanding of his traditional expectations and roles. He comprehends fully the importance of the stool he sits on.

As a king, he has authored eight books and shares his vast knowledge as a speaker on several global platforms. Divinely gifted with aristocratic physiognomy, his presence is commanding, kingly, and magnificently regal. He speaks with restraint, integrity, and dignity, exuding propriety and majesty effortlessly. He is an exemplar of splendor and poise.

Oba Elerinmo is an apotheosis of grandeur, grace, decorum, and decency. He is both baronial and regnant, operating within the confines of cultural etiquette.

He radiates courtliness and worthiness seamlessly and is a true ambassador of the King of Kings in tradition and culture. His very presence is a source of pride and inspiration.

He is a worthy representative on the throne of his ancestors, ably equipped administratively and spiritually — a true and authentic son of Kootu O Jiire, deeply committed to reverence for God, service to the people, and transformational leadership in all its forms.

  • Why we’re prioritising road development in Ogun, by Abiodun

Why we’re prioritising road development in Ogun, by Abiodun

    …Governor: I won’t be distracted by rhetorics

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has explained while his administration is prioritising road development across the Gateway State.

He cited the desire to shore up the socio-economic status of the state and the economic importance of infrastructure as major forces driving priorities.

He, however, restated commitment to delivery of dividends of democracy to every part of the state.

According to him, his focused administration would not be distracted by rhetorics of arm-chair critics and fault-finders.

According to him, the state had the longest kilometres of federal, state and local government roads, which were in deplorable conditions when he assumed office.

He said that his administration consulted widely with stakeholders on the roads with the greatest economic importance to the state to guide prioritization.

He also noted that roads that connect the state to adjacent states, be they intrastate, interstate or roads that connect farms to markets, have been enjoying attention.

Abiodun, who stated this in Abeokuta, the state capital, said his focus is to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people and not to respond to baseless criticisms by out-of-favour politicians.

He said, “For the avoidance of doubt, we have reconstructed every major expressway connecting Lagos State to Ogun State as a matter of fact; every major expressway connecting Ogun State to adjacent states, from those that were not existing before to those that were existing. Is it Agbara-Atan-Lusada that was not motorable or the Epe-Ijebu-Ode that was not motorable? Between Epe-Ijebu-Ode takes you 12 minutes now and it is a world class expressway.

“Between Epe and Ijebu-Ode, we now have two adjacent roads, one built by us, another one facilitated with Dangote, using his tax credit,” he added.

Abiodun maintained that his administration is currently reconstructing the Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Expressway, regarded as the second busiest road in Nigeria, noting that he met the road in a deplorable state, as it was not attended to by past governors.

“But we saw that road as a road of high economic importance and we fought tooth and nail to take over that road. Today, we are reconstructing the Interchange to Papalanto in reinforced concrete in partnership with another company using their tax credit.

“We constructed Abeokuta to Sagamu that was probably the worst road ever constructed in the history of this state. It was like laying asphalt on laterite, you know how many lives it claimed even in the last administration and so many other roads,” he said.

He, consequently, declared that he would not be distracted by rhetorics sponsored by disgruntled politicians who sees nothing good in his administration.

He said, “We will continue to remain focused despite the sponsored barking of some nay sayers.

“You know I am not one to respond to the frivolous sponsored rhetoric of some frustrated politicians. This is not politics here, this is governance, I am the Governor of Ogun State and I know what I am doing.

“Some of our governors before, they didn’t know what they were doing, but they now see a governor in action and rather than applaud, they were sponsoring cheap political rhetoric, but we know how to deal with those kinds of people.

“The most important thing is that all the sponsored rhetoric about bad roads here and there, you know performance is undeniable. It can’t lie, you know you can sponsor all the Twitter and Facebook in the world, but people can see what we are doing.

“Almost going to 1500 kilometers of roads, it is unprecedented in the history of this state. The roads I am reconstructing did not degenerate to that level after I became Governor, I inherited them but that is not an excuse.”

The governor said apart from roads, his administration built an airport in line with its multi-modal transport master plan which reaffirmed the location as suitable for an airport.

“Every indication suggested that we needed to have an airport in Ogun State and I am glad that has been validated today. We built the best airport in this country today, the best equipped airport in this country today.

“The flights arriving and departing there are full. We are now getting ready to increase passenger traffic, that airport is in our Aerotropolis.

“Ogun State is the fastest developing economy in this country today and one of the safest if not the safest state in this country today. Our internal revenue has quadrupled, our GDP has quadrupled from N3.56 trillion to N17 trillion, so, what are they talking about?” the governor queried.

  • APC, Adeleke clash over alleged N1trillion state allocation

APC, Adeleke clash over alleged N1trillion state allocation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke clashed on Tuesday over calls for accountability regarding what the party claimed is nearly N1 trillion allocated to the state in three years.

APC State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal, in a statement, demanded that Governor Adeleke should justify the nearly N1 trillion revenue reportedly received by his administration from November 2022 to September 2025, describing the government as “unproductive.”

Lawal claimed, “Our findings show that the Adeleke government received N25 billion from November–December 2022; N182 billion in 2023; N333 billion in 2024; and N310 billion from January–September 2025, with little or nothing to show for it. In just three months, July–September 2025, the administration received a whopping N124 billion in federal allocations—an average of N41 billion per month (see Page 9 of the Osun State Budget Implementation Performance report published on October 28, 2025). Yet, Osun citizens are struggling under the harsh economic policies of the Adeleke government.”

He added that despite the large allocations, no youth of the state should be subjected to the hardships imposed by the administration.

READ ALSO: Alleged N80.2b fraud: Court postpones Yahaya Bello’s trial to January 29

APC further alleged, “It is incongruous that a governor who brands himself ‘Mr Project’ spent only 26 per cent of his 2025 revenue on capital projects, while failing to pay N6 billion in gratuity arrears due this year. On what, then, is the people’s money being spent?”

Governor Adeleke, however, dismissed the allegations.

The governor, through his spokesperson Olawale Rasheed, described APC’s claims as “fake news” and insisted that his administration did not collect or squander N1 trillion in state allocations from 2022 to date.

Rasheed said, “The opposition statement is a devilish fabrication, a mischievous propaganda, and a failed attempt to undermine the commendable performance of the current administration, as attested by local and international stakeholders.”

“APC questioning how the governor spent a fabricated one trillion naira allocation to the state from 2022 to date is devilish. Only an anti-people party will claim not to see the almost 322 kilometers of roads across the state, the 200 health centre renovations, the rehabilitation of more than 100 schools, the ongoing dualisation across several towns, the ongoing upgrading and rehabilitation of several water works, the multibillion naira local and grassroots development projects, the flyover bridges, the new tractors, the ongoing renovation and upgrading of Osogbo stadium to a five star standard among others.

“Only a party set for another rejection in 2026 will deny the payment of half salaries owed workers and which the APC failed to pay while it governed the state. Pensioners are living witnesses of how state funds are being spent to offset pension debt which APC refused to pay and being liquidated by Governor Ademola Adeleke. The enrolment of over 30, 000 pensioners in the state health insurance scheme is an unprecedented policy which even the Federal Government has now adopted.”

Stop visiting nightclubs, wasting Osun resources — APC tells Adeleke

…opposition attempting to rubbish my brilliant performance —Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Governor Ademola Adeleke for what it described as excessive involvement in social events at the expense of the welfare of residents.

Speaking on Tuesday, APC State Chairman Tajudeen Lawal accused Adeleke of using state resources to fund his social lifestyle rather than addressing pressing issues, including challenges facing state-owned tertiary institutions, the University of Ilesa and Osun State University (UNIOSUN), particularly arbitrary increases in school fees and accommodation charges.

“In UNIOSUN, students pay as high as N1.5 million in school fees and N600,000 for accommodation, and similar trends are occurring in UNILESAs,” Lawal stated. “Instead of focusing on these critical issues, Adeleke has been visiting nightclubs and dancing from one state capital to another, wasting resources that should support education and other vital sectors. Over the weekend in Ibadan, his dancing at a music concert drew widespread ridicule, a classic case of Nero fiddling while Rome burned.”

Responding, Governor Adeleke dismissed the APC’s claims as baseless.

Through his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, he stated, “I have judiciously managed state resources to meet critical needs in health, infrastructure, education, business financing, cooperative empowerment, sports, agriculture, technology, workers’ welfare, and pension management. The opposition’s statement is mischievous propaganda and a failed attempt to tarnish the achievements of this administration, as acknowledged by local and international stakeholders.”
