    Top leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) in Oke Ogun axis of Oyo State have declared full support for Governor Seyi Makinde’s leadership, describing the achievements of his administration as the best ever in the history of the state.

    The PDP leaders in the zone from ten local government areas comprising Irepo, Olorunsogo, Oorelope, Atisbo, Saki West, Saki East, Itesiwaju, Iwajowa, Kajola and Iseyi local governments, affirmed their vote of confidence in the leadership of Governor Makinde’s administration. 

    Flooded by party chairmen and other members of executives in the ten local governments in the zone, the stakeholders meeting came on the heels of recent resignation of membership of PDP of a former lawmaker, and chieftain of the state PDP , Senator Hosea Agboola popularly known as Hallelujah.

    Agboola left the state PDP along with a retinue of his followers in the Oke Ogun zone.

    Leading the pack at the PDP stakeholders meeting held at the Iseyi Demonstration School l & ll , field in Iseyin on Thursday, are the Deputy Governor,  Barrister Bayo Lawal,  former House of Representatives member,  Hon Shina Peller, PDP Board of Trustee member, Engr Hamid Gbadamosi, and former state PDP chairman,  Pa Jacob Adetoro amongst others.

    They described the decision of Senator Hosea Agboola to leave the party as a blessing to the state PDP.

    The chairmen of the PDP in the ten local governments in the Oke Ogun zone testified by addressing the leaders one after the other, and affirmed  that none of them has left the party .

    Shina Peller,  a leader of the PDP in the zone, and former House of Representatives member , in his submission said the PDP stakeholders meeting became imperative to discuss the current situation of the party in each of the local governments after the exit of Senator Agboola.

    The Ekiti State University (EKSU) Alumni Association has inducted Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, and several personalities into its Hall of Fame.

    Other personalities inducted into the Hall of Fame include Dr. Soji Ehinlawo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Ekiti State; Yinka Oyebode, Chairman of the EKSU Alumni Board of Trustees; Dr. Kingsley Kuku, Mr. Akinsanmi Falaki; Dr. (Chief) Omotayo Alle; and Tope Adebayo, among others.

    The recognition formed part of activities marking the Association’s 12th Global Convention held at the university campus in Ado-Ekiti, which brought together members from across the world for two days of deliberations, reunions, and celebration of excellence.

    The event, described as one of the most successful conventions in the Alumni Association’s history, also featured the formal signing of the newly reviewed constitution by the Global President, Ambassador Seyi Idowu, alongside the Board of Trustees (BoT) and the Legal Adviser.

    In his welcome address, Ambassador Idowu expressed delight at the large turnout of members and dignitaries, noting that the gathering underscored the strong bond that binds EKSU alumni across generations.

    The global President urged members to continue supporting the Association’s developmental initiatives and to remain active partners in strengthening the university’s global reputation.

    The convention attracted notable guests, including the Chancellor of the university, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe; Vice Chancellor, Professor Babatola Joseph Ayodele; and His Imperial Majesty, Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, the Olowo of Owo Kingdom, among others.

    The Aare Onikoyi of Yorubaland, Aare Tomori Williams, has reaffirmed his loyalty to His Imperial Majesty, Iku Baba Yeye, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, the Alaafin of Oyo.

    Aare Williams pledged his total loyalty to Oba Owoade when the monarch and his wife, Olori Abiwunmi, paid him a visit at his Olaleye Newtown, Lagos office recently.

    Addressing journalists at the event, Aare Williams described the monarch’s visit as historic and highly symbolic, saying it reaffirmed the long-standing relationship between the Alaafin and his high-ranking chiefs.

     “This visit is historic and significant. It strengthens the bond between His Imperial Majesty and members of his cabinet, including myself. It also provides an opportunity to reaffirm my loyalty and continued support for his reign,” Aare Williams stated.

    He further explained the traditional significance of his title, noting that the Aare Onikoyi stands as the foremost among all Onikoyi across the world and serves as the head of the ancient war clan in the Yoruba race — a lineage renowned for its valor during the old Oyo Empire.

    Aare Williams commended the Alaafin for his leadership and expressed appreciation for the royal recognition, describing the monarch’s visit as a gesture of trust and reassurance of his continued guidance.

    Meanwhile, Oba Owoade, during the visit, expressed his delight at visiting one of his most notable chiefs.

    “As a king, I have always worked in collaboration with my chiefs. I believe that when we work together, we can push the Yoruba nation forward and make the Yoruba Kingdom a better place,” he noted.

    In a bid to further deepen the propagation of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola’s aspiration for the Ogun governorship seat in 2027, a socio‑political group, Ogun Visionaries, on Thursday organized a Town Hall Meeting for the people of Ogun West.

    The Ogun West edition, with the theme, ‘Yayi 2027: Making a Case for Ogun State Unity and Prosperity,’ was held at Sango‑Ota in Ado‑Odo Local Government Area of Ogun State.

    Earlier, the Director‑General of Ogun Visionaries, Odunleye Odunjo, stated that the socio‑political group is set to hold interactive sessions with Ogun‑state indigenes via statewide town‑hall meetings.

    “We will listen to people across the state—asking them what kind of government they would like to have in 2027 and how their next leader should govern their affairs. We will x‑ray individuals and support the best among us to emerge as our elected public servants. With the resources extractable from our state, we must be conscious of those aspiring to lead us.” He noted that town‑hall meetings are not new to the state’s political space, emphasizing that the meetings are to pinpoint and scrutinize the existing challenges, opportunities and ways to fix them all for the benefit of the people of Ogun State.

    Speaking at the well‑attended event,  the Minister of State for Health, Dr. Isiaq Kunle Salako, who also chaired the event, represented by Hon.     A fresh controversy has erupted in Owo, Ondo State, following the decision of the Olowo-in-Council to declare the suspended Chairman of Owo Local Government, Hon. Tope Omolayo, persona non grata within the ancient community.

    The decision came after Hon. Omolayo –  suspended a few weeks ago by the Owo Legislative Council over alleged gross misconduct – was accused of making disparaging remarks against the Olowo of Owo and Chairman of the Ondo State Council of Obas, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Ajibade Gbadegesin Ogunoye III, in a viral leaked video.

    Although the embattled chairman had publicly apologised to the monarch, admitting that his utterances were “thoughtless” and disrespectful, the Olowo-in-Council maintained that his presence as chairman was no longer acceptable to the people and traditional leadership of Owo.

    Speaking on behalf of the council, on Saturday, Ogwadogbon of Owo, High Chief Ademola Obanonyen, described Omolayo’s comments as “utter sacrilege and crass contempt” against the revered throne.

    He said the Council, acting to protect the dignity of the monarchy, resolved that Omolayo be regarded as persona non grata in Owo, insisting that his continued stay as chairman “is no longer acceptable.”

    Obanonyen noted that all Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) within Owo Kingdom had disowned Omolayo’s conduct, describing his remarks as “unfortunate and regrettable ” while calling on the Ondo State Government to take note and act “in the interest of peace.”

    He said, “After a thorough and sober deliberation, the Olowo-in-Council, speaking with one voice and acting in defence of the dignity of the Owo throne, hereby declares that the individual in question, by his reckless utterances and disrespectful conduct, has declared himself persona non grata within Owo Kingdom.”

    He added that the Council viewed the chairman’s behaviour as “a direct provocation and an assault on the throne,” stressing that “any attempt to ridicule the Olowo is an insult to the entire Owo Kingdom, our ancestors, and our collective heritage.”

    “That his continued presence as Chairman of the Owo Local Government Area Council is no longer acceptable to the people and traditional leadership of Owo.

    “That his actions have eroded the trust and confidence traditionally extended to holders of public office within the Owo community.

    “That the Olowo-in-Council calls on the Ondo State Government and relevant authorities to take due cognizance of this development and take appropriate administrative steps in the interest of peace and mutual respect.”

    “The Olowo of Owo Kingdom is not only the custodian of our ancient traditions but also a symbol of unity, peace, and progress. Any attempt to ridicule the person or sacred institution he represents is an insult to the entire Owo Kingdom, our ancestors, and our collective heritage.”

    The Council further appealed to all indigenes of Owo to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring that the dignity of the throne would be preserved through discipline and moral clarity, not confrontation.

    It added that traditional rulers are custodians of culture and peace, not objects of ridicule, warning that “Owo Kingdom will never tolerate insolence against its throne – a throne that has stood for centuries as a beacon of civilization, wisdom, and dignity.”

    When contacted by our reporter over his reaction to the development, Hon. Omolayo immediately declined comments.

    The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has approved Ellah Lakes Plc’s plan to launch a N235 billion public offer, marking a major milestone in the company’s ongoing expansion and growth drive.

    Announcing the approval at a press conference in Lagos, the company’s Managing Director, Chuka Mordi, described the development as a vote of confidence in Ellah Lakes’ vision to transform Nigeria’s agricultural sector through sustainable and integrated farming initiatives.

    Mordi explained that the capital raise would be used to strengthen the company’s balance sheet, expand its agribusiness operations, and enhance value creation for shareholders. “This N235 billion capital raise is a definitive statement of intent. It is our commitment to deliver economies of scale, market resilience, and long-term value creation,” he said.

    Ellah Lakes, which is listed on the Nigerian Exchange, is Nigeria’s pioneer integrated agro-industrial company with operations across oil palm, cassava, and other value chain crops. The company boasts over thirty thousand hectares of land assets across Enugu, Edo, Ekiti, and Ondo States, positioning it advantageously within the country’s agricultural landscape.

    A key highlight of the company’s strategy is the commissioning of its six-ton-per-hour Crude Palm Oil (CPO) mill, designed to support vertical integration and reduce exposure to external supply chain disruptions.     Chairman of the Senate Ad Hoc Committee on Crude Oil Theft and Sabotage, Senator Ned Nwoko raised concerns about the menace of crude oil in the country and suggested how the challenge can be addressed.

    Nwoko disclosed this while presenting the committee’s interim report before the Senate.

    He said: “Our investigation has so far uncovered massive revenue losses amounting to over $300 billion in unaccounted crude oil proceeds over the years. This represents one of the most troubling cases of economic sabotage our nation has ever faced.”

    The committee, he said, has  “made far-reaching recommendations to end this long-standing menace. These include: The strict enforcement of international crude oil measurement standards at all production and export points.

    “Mandating the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) to deploy modern, tamper-proof measuring technology or returning this function to the Department of Weights and Measures under the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment.

    “The deployment of advanced surveillance systems, including drones, to assist security agencies in combating oil theft. The creation of a Special Court for Crude Oil Theft to ensure swift prosecution of offenders and their collaborators.

    “Full implementation of the Host Communities Development Trust Fund under the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) to empower local communities and reduce sabotage.

    “Ceding abandoned oil wells to the NUPRC for allocation to modular refineries to support local production and job creation.

     “The committee also seeks an expanded mandate to track, trace, and recover stolen crude oil proceeds, both locally and internationally. Forensic reviews show over $22 billion, $81 billion, and $200 billion remain unaccounted for across different audit periods.

    “This is a national call to action. Nigeria cannot afford to continue losing trillions to corruption, inefficiency, and criminal networks. I remain committed, alongside my colleagues, to ensuring accountability, recovery, and reform within the oil and gas sector.”

    The Institute of Public Analysts of Nigeria (IPAN) has announced plans to host its Maiden National Summit on Strengthening Analytical Laboratory Regulatory Framework and Compliance.

    The summit is aimed at harmonising Nigeria’s fragmented laboratory system to enhance public health, industrial integrity, and national competitiveness.

    The summit, scheduled for November 10 to 11, will hold at Yard 158 Event Arena, Oregun, Ikeja.

    The 32nd Mandatory Continuing Professional Development (MCPD) Workshop will follow from November 12 to 13 at Responsible Leaders Hotel (formerly Ostra Hotel), Ikeja, Lagos.

    Speaking at a pre-summit news conference yesterday at the IPAN Secretariat in Yaba, Lagos, the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of IPAN, Mr. Allyu Abdullahi Angara, said the summit marks a national turning point in the effort to build a unified and credible analytical laboratory system that supports evidence-based policy, consumer safety, and economic growth.

    “This is not just another technical meeting. It is a national conversation, a platform for government, industry, academia, and development partners to rethink and realign the systems that govern how laboratory analyses impact the lives and livelihoods of Nigerians.”Angara said.

    He noted that analytical laboratories are “the quiet guardians of public safety,” testing everything from food, drugs, water, cosmetics, and building materials to the air Nigerians breathe.

    Yet, he lamented that these laboratories have operated for years within a “fragmented regulatory environment” with overlapping mandates, inconsistent standards, and weak compliance monitoring.

    All Progressive Congress (APC) youths, women, and leaders across the 33 local government areas of Oyo State on Saturday benefitted from N100 million economic relief fund by the Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, through his Bayo Adelabu Foundation (BAF).

    Adelabu, a 2027 governorship aspirant under All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State assured members of the party and residents of the state that he is ready to serve the state.

    Adelabu said more empowerment will come to the party and residents of the state when the party return to power in 2027.

    The Minister described PDP as a tenant in Agodi Government House, noting that APC would take it’s rightful position in the state come 2027.

    He said: “Oyo belongs to the progressives, we are the landlords, we are going back to Agodi Government House in 2027.”

    He however urged members to unite at the ward, local government and state levels so that the party can win the 2027 governorship election in the state.

    The guest lecturer at the event, Dr. Stephen Lafenwa from Department of Political Science of the University of Ibadan (UI), said any political party that invest in youths, women and leaders will always come out victorious.

    According to him, no party can win public trust without empowering its youths, women and leaders, commending APC in the state for priortising welfare of its members across the state.

    He urged beneficiaries of the empowerment to use it judiciously towards alleviating their sufferings.

    Oyo APC chairman, who was represented by the party Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Olanite said the party is proud of Adelabu because the entire state now know that APC has come back to it’s feet’s through the Minister.
