  • APC chieftain to Obi/Datti: your rigging claims illogical

APC chieftain to Obi/Datti: your rigging claims illogical

A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC)  in Edo State , Prince John Mayaki, has mocked Labour Party’s Vice Presidential candidate Datti Baba-Ahmed, over his “illogical claims” in a recent interview where he insisted the vote count of the APC was manufactured but that of the LP was authentic despite both being the product of the same process.

According to Mayaki, the contradictory claim was indicative of the double standards and hypocrisy of the Labour Party and its supporters, as well as their inability to foreground the rigging allegations beyond sensational and unsubstantiated accusations.

He said: “I watched a video where Datti Baba-Ahmed was asked on Channels TV if he truly believed the elections were rigged; he answered in the affirmative. Also, he was asked if his 6.1million votes were rigged; and he said, no. Even Seun Okinbaloye the anchor of the program was shocked by Mr Baba-Ahmed’s response and illogicalities – he claimed his votes were not rigged, but other contestants votes were rigged; in the same election conducted by the same umpire, at the same time across the country. This is a clear case of double standard and hypocrisy”.

He also queried why the Labour Party eagerly accepted the outcome of the National Assembly results, particularly in constituencies where they recorded victories – they celebrated the outcome of the Senate and House of Representatives election, but are picking holes with the Presidential . How logical is that? It would have made a remarkable difference if the Labour Party had gotten majority in the Senate and Reps elections, then fall short at the presidential.”

Dismissing the ‘Obi wave’ as a fluke, Mayaki explained that the Labour Party’s poor outing in the Governorship and State Assembly elections illustrated its poor spread and weak support at the local level, unlike the more established and better grounded APC that re-demonstrated its popularity with key victories.

According to Mayaki, Obi’s political wave is becoming a fluke, judging by the outcome of the governorship and the House of Assembly elections when compared with his previous outing at the presidential election. From 6.1m votes at the presidential election, Obi’s Labour Party fell quite on its back, to less than 700,000 votes throughout the entire country.”

“That is a clear failure  and it goes to confirm the earlier claims that,  the Labour Party has no structure. In the North, the NNPP presidential candidate oiled his structure and performed well – he won Kano State during the Presidential election, some National Assembly seats and State House of Assembly. The NNPP equally won the governorship seat however, this is being challenged in court. We expected –Baba-Ahmed to have equally achieved same feat if the Labour Party had its structures on ground but they thought they could to win elections from the blues without working for it”.

  • How Eze Ebube was birthed, by artiste Neon Adejo

How Eze Ebube was birthed, by artiste Neon Adejo

The Afro-worship song stirring gratitude in the hearts of God’s people all across the globe

Neon Adejo, a Nigerian sensational gospel recording artiste is currently blessing the world with his hit single Eze Ebube.

The Eze Ebube crooner who is currently on a UK Tour, recently shared the testimony that inspired this hit single at one of his worship meetings in Manchester.

According to the music minister, Eze Ebube was birthed from a place of gratitude to God after surviving an intense electric shock in 2019 that left him battling for his life. The singer miraculously survived electrocution after he called on the name of Jesus and the electric power went off for two seconds after which the electric wire fell of his hands and power was quickly restored back.

It was after this experience the minister penned down the song Eze Ebube as a thanksgiving offering to Jesus for giving him another opportunity to live again.

Eze Ebube currently has two versions; a digital version and a Live version titled: Eze  Ebube II, followed by a recent remix version featuring Sini Dagana & David Jones David.

The digital version was produced by David Ejila, mixed and mastered by Emmanuel Iriemi.

The Live Version was produced by Derrick Wonder, mixed and mastered by Chuks Music Production.

With over 2000 covers and counting on YouTube, EZE EBUBE has proven to be one of Neon Adejo’s biggest worship song till date and one of the biggest Gospel anthem to come out of Africa with over 2000 daily streams across all digital platforms.

On what makes good music he explains that, “it’s in the excellence in production, the Background Vocals, the excellence in the delivery by the lead vocalist and the message that the song conveys. The core message of every Christian song should be the GOSPEL; which is the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Any gospel songs that does not major on this is not a gospel song. If your song is not able to talk about the love of God, what Christ did for the believer, who the believer is in Christ, what Christ has already made available for the believer to receive, then it’s not really singing the gospel”

Every gospel song should be a means of evangelism and reconciling men to God.

  • Group blames Fed Govt, others over gas flaring in Niger Delta

Group blames Fed Govt, others over gas flaring in Niger Delta

A non-governmental organisation (NGO), ‘We The People’s’, has blamed the federal and state governments for not stopping gas flaring by international oil companies in the Niger Delta.

Executive Director Mr. Ken Henshaw made this known at the weekend during a Community Environmental Monitoring training organised by Home of Mother Earth (Foundation (HOMEF), for Ibeno and Joinkrama communities in Akwa Ibom and Rivers states.

He slammed Shell and Exxonmobil for always shifting the deadline for stopping gas flaring, saying the federal and state governments had to be decisive in enforcing compliance.

“The oil companies keep blackmailing the Nigerian government because they know Nigeria cannot survive without oil money. What all the 36 governors know is to go to Abuja to collect money. So, they will blackmail the Nigerian government, and the government will move the gas flare deadline.

“They have moved the gas flare deadline for eight times in Nigeria. In fact, the last one that was moved was when former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources Ibe Kachukwu came on air and announced everywhere, at conferences that gas flaring in Nigeria would be brought to an end in 2020.

“Everybody celebrated, including my humble self. We started reminding him about the date. But just in December 2020, they sacked Kachukwu and the Minister of Environment came out and said ‘there is now a new framework that will stop gas flaring in 2030 and that Nigeria is joining that one, no more the 2020 framework’.”

“So we changed our target to 2030. But as 2030 is drawing close, two years gone already by last year. They realised that only eight years are left, so they went to climate change conference and made a new commitment.

“In fact, Nigeria is now working on what is called ‘Net Zero emission. It is a climate change commitment that all hydrocarbon pollution, including gas flaring, will end in 2050,” Henshaw said.

He expressed concern that the people of oil-producing communities in Niger Delta would continue to suffer the negative effects of gas flaring for over two more decades, whereas flaring of gas had been declared illegal in Nigeria since 1979.

He, however, advised the people of the region not to celebrate the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA), as it doesn’t favour them, frowning at some of the provisions, including the one on sabotage, pipeline vandalism or civil disobedience drafted such that a situation will arise where the communities will have to pay the oil companies money as compensation.

Henshaw said: “Some people are being paid billions of naira to protect oil facilities. When there is oil theft, they don’t hold those people to account. But when there is oil spill, they want to hold the communities to account.

“Nobody from the Niger Delta should celebrate PIA. You can see that PIA has been drafted in such a way that what it gives you with the right hand; it takes with the left hand and takes even more. Clearly it is a criminal law.

“Also they will be the one to carry out NEEDS Assessment for the impacted communities. Another worrisome thing is that what the PIA has actually done is to package the oil communities and handed them over to the oil companies as their property.”

“So I am shocked at those clapping for the PIA because there is nothing to clap for, but there is a lot to cry for in the PIA. The PIA actually allows gas flaring to continue. This is something poisoning and killing our people, but the government said it can continue, as long as the oil companies pay fine for the gas they flare.

“And that fine is not going to be used for the benefit of the people suffering heath issues. Rather, it is put into a fund that helps them to explore more gas in frontier basins mostly in Northern Nigeria. This is because the Federal Government sees Niger Delta as a source of getting money.

“The reality is that they will always keep something in front of us to look forward to, and time is going. So, part of the reason that Health of Mother Earth Foundation and its partners have brought this meeting together is that time is up. Let’s wake up.”

  • Ohanaeze: Iwuanyanwu didn’t refer to Yoruba as political rascals

Ohanaeze: Iwuanyanwu didn’t refer to Yoruba as political rascals

The apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, has said Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu never referred to the Yoruba as political rascals.

It described the report as a lie from the pit of hell.

Ohanaeze said the report was “a typical falsehood, fabricated by social media entrepreneurs, decorated with wings, expanded with venom, injected with ethnic nuances to create inter-ethnic mistrust between the age-long partners in social, cultural, religious and economic development of Nigeria.”

The group said this in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Alex Ogbonnia, in Enugu yesterday.

Ogbonnia said: “Our attention has been drawn to the fake news making the rounds that the Chairman, Council of Elders, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, referred to the Yoruba as political rascals.

He said Iwuanyanwu never made such a comment while speaking in Awka, Anambra State, on Saturday during an event to mark the one year in office of Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State.

Ogbonnia said Iwuanyanwu only drew the attention of the audience and the public to the fact that Ndigbo and Yoruba people were neither quarrelling nor fighting, implying that the Yoruba were a friendly group of people.

He said Iwuanyanwu only said, ‘I want to tell those in Lagos to realise that there is no war between us and the Yoruba”, adding that ‘those who attacked Ndigbo in Lagos recently are rascals, who should be arrested’.

“This has mischievously been twisted to imply that ‘Yoruba people are political rascals and that we will fight them’. This is ‘quel dommage’ from the insidious minds of those who wish to create rift between the Igbo and the Yoruba.

“At no time in history, there is often a tug of war between two major groups; mostly the good people with conscience on one hand and the devious insidious minds on the other.”

“So, as much as some mischief makers will twist the speech by Iwuanyanwu, the truth remains that he holds the Yoruba in a very high esteem and he used the Awka event to express it,” Ogbonnia said.

He added that emphasis was that “we must not attribute the ugly event in Lagos to the good people of Yoruba ethnic, rather, it was the handiwork of rascals, hooligans, spivs, charlatans, miscreants and dregs of Lagos society.

“It is important to highlight that Chief Iwuanyanwu is a renowned patriotic detribalised Nigerian, who enjoyed the fidelity, confidence, solidarity, support of the Yoruba when he was in active business and politics.

“Iwuanyanwu in all his private and public discussions has often commended the profound Yoruba cultural values, intellect and hospitality.

“He applauds the cordial relationship between the Igbo and the Yoruba, citing that several Igbo are integral parts of various Yoruba communities.”

He maintained that there had been successful marriages of Yoruba daughters by frontline Igbo sons, citing Chief Emeka Anyaoku; Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien; Prof. Vincent Ike, Prof. Okey Ndibe and others.

Ogbonnia exemplified the irreproachable similarity in the Igbo-Yoruba cultural values and cosmology.

“Evidently, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) enjoyed the support of eminent Igbo sons and daughters.

“For the avoidance of doubt, Ohanaeze Ndigbo will resist any attempt to paint the 2023 presidential election with an ethnic tar,” he added.

  • Industrialist supports Bayelsa Education Trust Fund with N10m

Industrialist supports Bayelsa Education Trust Fund with N10m

Foremost industrialist Dr. Azibapu Eruani (CFR) has reiterated his commitment to support efforts geared towards consolidating education interventions in Bayelsa State.

Eruani, who spoke when a team of Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund Board (BSEDTF) visited him in Yenagoa, said education remained the bedrock of a better society.

In a statement yesterday by his media aide, Mr. Austin Ebipade, Eruani, in response to the plethora of challenges itemised by the BSEDTF, made an instant donation of N10million to the board to rekindle and facilitate effort geared towards achieving its mandate.

He said the quality of his primary education in his country home, Emadike, in Ogbia Local Government, was instrumental to his success in career and business.

Eruani said many doubted the reality that he schooled in his community, adding that what they believed was that his early education was in Europe and the United States of America.

He said the education he obtained remained the bedrock of his exploit in career and made him a successful businessman now leading the new industrialisation in Nigeria towards improving infrastructural development and driving the nation towards the sustainability of cleaner energy through the establishment of the first private hydroskimming oil refinery in Nigeria.

Recalling his conferment with the Commander of the Federal Republic (CFR) by President Muhammadu Buhari, Eruani said the quality of education he had, played a key role in the recognition and significant commitment made in promoting the economy and societal growth.

He, however, noted that he was not relaxing on his laurels, stressing that his commitment in business and industrialisation had placed Bayelsa State on a global map.

Eruani said he would continue to stand for Nigeria and the state to bequeath a better society to the current generation and generations unborn.

He said he had been an ardent supporter of education, adding that he had granted scholarships to Bayelsa people and Nigerians in tertiary institutions at home and abroad.

The Acting Chairman, BSEDTF, Prof. Francis Sikoki, listed the challenges in the education sector for which the committee was established to include, poverty-induced increase rate of out-of-school children, dilapidated buildings, leaking roofs, dearth of instructional materials, among others.

He said the situation was worse in the riverine communities where children studied under trees with lack of ICT equipment, libraries, laboratories as well as teachers.

Other members of the committee include Dr. Alice Atuwo, Sir Mathias Otuogha, HRM Fidelix Agbiki, James Tobias, Mr. John Edoghotu and Dressman Abah.

  • IPOB’s, Iwuayanwu’s attacks on Yoruba promoting genocide, says group

IPOB’s, Iwuayanwu’s attacks on Yoruba promoting genocide, says group

Widespread reports that the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) plans to attack Lagos, coupled with a statement by the Champion Newspapers Publisher, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyannwu that the Yoruba are ‘rascals’, represent calls for genocide against peace-loving Yoruba people, a group, the All Yoruba Democratic Movements (AYDM), has said.

The group said IPOB’s hate project had been extended abroad where Yoruba professionals like Dr. Adeniran Ariyo, a world renowned cardiologist, had been singled out for attack by IPOB members.

AYDM urged Lagos State Government and other Southwest governments to set up an extensive intelligence corps to fish out IPOB terrorists, their collaborators, including drug barons and manufacturers of fake drugs, who provided illicit funds for the terrorist group.

It said: “IPOB is a Nazist organisation, the Yoruba have the historical role to ‘denazify’ its territories from Lagos to Jebba, to Akoko Edo and to Itsekiri territories in Delta State.

“The Yoruba are clearly not the aggressors. IPOB, Chief Iwuanyanwu and their supporters are the aggressors. We promise them that from Yoruba people there will be proportional response to any attack on Yorubaland or any Yoruba individual since this seems to be the new project of IPOB, Iwuanyanwu and their collaborators.”

In a statement at the weekend signed by its Secretary General, Popoola Ajayi, the AYDM, a coalition of 121 community-based groups in Yorubaland, including Kogi, Edo and Itsekiri speaking area of Delta State, said Iwuanyanwu had given intellectual and political content to the plot of IPOB to attack the Yoruba. “This may be similar to the position of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the Igbo apex group, since Iwuanyanwu is a member of that organisation.”

The group said the Yoruba would not be provoked into attacking the Igbo, urging Igbo leaders to caution IPOB’s and Iwuanyanwu’s excesses.

“We urge the Igbo in Yorubaland to go about their businesses. If Lagos or any part of Yorubaland is eventually attacked by IPOB, the Igbo Nation should know who to hold responsible for the consequences.”

AYDM said during the EndSARS protests, the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, asked IPOB to attack Yoruba barracks and even kill Yoruba governors, adding that the statement of Iwuanyanwu and IPOB was in furtherance of Nazism being extended to Yorubaland.

It said: “We draw the attention of the local and International community to the genocide plot by IPOB and its supporters, including Iwuanyanwu. While we recognise that there are moderate Igbo people, who do not share the genocidal plot of IPOB, we are mindful of the fact that IPOB is a dominant organisation in the Southeast, which rules the area with fear and bullying, but lacking wisdom or knowledge. IPOB is armed and has been involved in mindless killings of innocent people in the Southeast. It makes sense to be alert when such an irresponsible and callous organisation makes such a threat.”

AYDM said the positions of Iwuanyanwu and IPOB were the same and had shown that Yoruba people, who innocently drummed up support for alliance with the Southeast, were doing so in vain. “The Yoruba leadership have always bent backwards to work with the Southeast, but at each point, we have ended up regretting, the latest being the support given by Afenifere to Mr. Peter Obi, who up till now has not even spoken to thank the group or show solidarity to Lagos Yoruba youths, who voted for his party, the Labour Party. In his parochial mindset, he would attribute his victory in Lagos to his people, little wonder he visited only Ladipo spare parts market in Lagos after the presidential election.

“You cannot behead yourself to satisfy the thirst of a people, whose primordial aim is to live and witness your peril,” the group said

AYDM added: “There is no difference between Iwuanyanwu and IPOB. Both are expressing extremist views capable of fuelling genocide against the Yoruba people in their fatherland. We are aware that some Yoruba people are already being killed by IPOB in the Southeast. One of them was an Immigration officer, who was shot dead by IPOB in Anambra State two weeks ago on account of his ethnic origin,” the statement signed by AYDM Secretary General said.

AYDM said Dr. Adeniran Ariyo, on the other hand, had suffered ceaseless persecution and hate speeches, which was only eye blink away from physical attacks on him. “His only offence is to profess his ‘Yorubaness’ and his refusal to support the Nazist political agenda of his colleagues, who are bent on throwing Nigeria into turmoil, having lost the last presidential election.”

AYDM warned those attacking Dr. Ariyo to desist or face the consequences.

“Ariyo is a world-class cardiologist. He was recently declared as the Yorubaman of the Year 2021. Since then, he has been singled out for attacks and blackmail. We warn those responsible to beware of adequate responses from the Yoruba people all over the world.”

AYDM said it was not surprised about Iwuanyanwu’s utterances, adding that the warped dream of a section of the Igbo elite was to turn Yorubaland into ashes, forgetting that what God had created, no human idol could demolish or destroy.

IPOB and Iwuanyanwu are heads of heathen. We represent the light and definitely light will subdue and extinguish darkness, the group said.

AYDM said: “Having been listed as the third deadliest terrorist group in the world, the Yoruba should not take IPOB threat slightly. The group is irrational, rash and savage. It derives its strength from primitive thinking and a passion for human blood. This runs contrary to the Yoruba values. We have no objection to IPOB operating in the Southeast, but this stone-age activities of a terrorist organisation will not be tolerated in Yorubaland. Our response will be scientific and done in line with the international principles of self-defence, as entrenched in the United Nations Charter of Self Determination.”

Imo APC backs Uzodimma’s re-election bid

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State has declared the re-election of Governor Hope Uzodimma as a fait accompli, following the uncommon solidarity and goodwill of the people towards the Uzodimma-led shared prosperity administration.

The party said its landslide victory in the March 18 state assembly election was an eloquent testimony of the people’s confidence and trust in the leadership of Governor Uzodimma.

Addressing a cross section of reporters in Owerri, the state Publicity Secretary, Cajetan Duke, thanking ‘Imolites’, who spoke through their votes for APC candidates, said the victory of the party was nothing but an implicit vote of confidence in Governor Uzodimma, who he described as a rare statesman and uncommon democrat, who had restored the people’s confidence in the business of governance.

According to the spokesman, “the overwhelming victory of our party in the just concluded state assembly election is a reflection of our people’s opinion and confidence in the shared prosperity administration of our performing governor, Senator Uzodimma.”

He added: “There’s no other way to appreciate a governor who has kept his covenant with the people, particularly in quality infrastructural development, recovery of stolen critical public assets as well as civil service reforms, among others.

“There is no doubt that the governor has distinguished himself within his short stay in office as a leader that can be trusted. A governor who has refused to follow the unpopular trend of his predecessors’ leadership of my family, my family, but chose to return governance to the people”.

Small-scale businesswomen encouraged on acquiring tech skills, others

The Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND) has encouraged female small scale entrepreneurs to embrace innovative and technological skills in order to boost their businesses.

This was part of presentations at a programme organised by the foundation in Warri, Delta state, Thursday, as part of activities commemorating the International Women’s Day celebration which held on Wednesday, March 8.

Speaking on the event which had about 100 women drawn from Delta, Bayelsa and Ondo states, PIND’s Access to Energy Manager, Teslim Giwa, emphasized the need to create awareness among women, especially those of the Niger Delta on the use of technology and other innovations to boost their businesses.

He explained that the theme of the programme, ‘Embrace Equity Through Technology and Innovation,’ was informed by this year’s theme for the IWD celebration, ‘DigitALL: Innovation and technology for gender equality.’

Giwa pointed out that the advent of technology has positively influenced and increased the output of several small businesses.

“Technology has been able to change the game for many small businesses across countries, including places considered as developing nations.

Ebonyi council boss denies complicity in killing of opposition party member

The Chairman of Onicha local government area of Ebonyi State, Chidiebere Agwu has denied involvement in the death of an opposition party member in the council area.

Mr Agwu was reacting to allegations levelled against him over the death of an opposition party member, one Oyibo Nwani.

Mr Nwani, it was learnt, was killed by yet to be identified persons on Saturday 18th March, 2023 at at Amautu Town Hall polling unit during the governorship and state assembly election.

He was the agent of the Action Alliance (AA) party for the polling unit.

Agwu in a statement on Friday condemned the killing of Mr Nwani and vowed to do all within his powers to ensure arrest and prosecution of his killers.

He said that despite all the plots and gangups by opposition parties against the APC, its governorship candidate, Francis Nwifuru still won the election.

He noted that having lost woefully in the entire elections, the opposition elements in Onicha LGA are understandably angry, hopeless and frustrated

He however lamented that the opposition elements confused on their next line of action have resorted to smear campaign against him.

He said, This explains why they have made fruitless efforts to link me to the unfortunate violence which led to the murder of one Oyibo Nwani, an agent of Action Alliance(AA) who was killed by yet to be identified persons at Amautu Town Hall polling unit on the election day.

“I condemn, very strongly, the gruesome murder of the young man, and  i wish to use this opportunity to commiserate with the immediate family, the people of Amautu and the entire Onicha Igboeze clan over his loss.

“Also, I will like to use this opportunity to very honestly state that I have no hand in the violence that erupted at the Polling Unit which led to the death of Oyibo Nwani.

“I was not at the polling unit when the incident occurred, and I did not send anybody to the polling unit, as had been carelessly and maliciously alleged by the opposition elements in Onicha”, je sisd

Mr Agwu said he will be suing all those who published the malicious and defamatory posts accusing him of masterminding the killing of Oyibo to court.

“They should prepare to provide enough evidence in court to substantiate their criminal allegations against me when called upon, as I am prepared to get to the root of this matter.

“In the meantime, I wish to assure the family of Oyibo,  my good people of Amautu, and Onicha Igboeze in general that I will give every necessary support and assistance to the security agencies to ensure proper investigation, arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators of this heinous crime”, he said.
