As with any ROG device, users can also get access to the ROG Armoury Crate, which unifies system and lighting controls to put essential settings at their fingertips in a single utility. Scenario Profiles that automatically adjust the launch of favourite gaming titles can easily be defined and customized on the ASUS ROG Flow Z13

  • THE DIABETES DRUG THAT SAVED ME FROM CUTTING MY LEG

THE DIABETES DRUG THAT SAVED ME FROM CUTTING MY LEG

My name is RTD Major/Gen. A. O. Aladenola. The journey of my diabetes started on a terrific Tuesday morning. I received an emergency call from my superior officer to attend a security briefing in Abuja the next morning which is Tuesday. I woke up early to catch up with the early morning flight; that 45 minutes journey was the beginning of my predicament.

I visited the rest room 5 times which became very embarrassing. Ultimately I knew something was wrong and as I put a call through to my doctor, I was advised to immediately go to hospital.

Immediately I managed to finish my meeting which was another embarrassing moment, I checked into our base hospital where a comprehensive checkup was conducted on me and it was discovered that I had diabetes and my sugar level was 385mg. I was admitted and placed on insulin. That was how the journey started and it has been a terrific one – injecting myself everyday with dosage of insulin.

The situation got worsened when I had a wound on my leg which later became sore. At a point, my leg was considered to be amputated but I refused blatantly and I travelled to India, Saudi Arabia and UK, but all to no avail. The predicament led to my early retirement from the Military.

                   MY ENCOUNTER WITH NKHAMBI

My Childhood friend Charles was in the know of my ordeal with diabetes. He called me one fateful day and informed me about what he saw on the page of a Newspaper concerning diabetes and sent a number to call but I didn’t bother till about a week later when my nurse came to the house for the routine treatment of my leg.

Reluctantly I put a call through and explained my predicament to the fellow who assured me that I will be well and the sore will heal up.

I was told that I will use the medication for 6 months for total cure, but within 2 months the sore will heal up. He sounded very convincing. So I ordered for 2 months’ treatment. The first thing I noticed when I commenced the medication was that it helped to free my bowel and anytime I visited to toilet, what comes out of me was unexplainable.

After 3 weeks on the medication, the sore was drying up and my nurse was also shocked – all other symptoms like my blurry vision and tingling sensations on my feet were subsiding. But what shocked me to the marrow was that within 7 weeks of administering NKHAMBI the SORE totally healed up and my sugar came down to 115 – 120mg.

I ordered for the complete dosage as advised, and after 4 months I started eating what I desired without restriction and all symptoms of diabetes had vanished; no more fluctuation of blood sugar.

Now I am well and healthy after 18 years of battling diabetes which almost claim my leg. Thanks to NKHAMBI and I recommend it for anybody having any type of DIABETES.

  • Children in Nigeria who need basic necessities have been given supplies by CoinW Public Welfare Action

Children in Nigeria who need basic necessities have been given supplies by CoinW Public Welfare Action

CoinW shows that it has empathy for the problems of the poor in Africa and donates aid and relief materials, to raise awareness of the brand’s purpose.

On June 13, the African team of CoinW , the world’s leading cryptocurrency trading platform, and some volunteers from the crypto community pays a visit to Living Fountain Orphanage in Lagos, Nigeria, with a batch of charity supplies for the children to show their love and care.

    Covid-19 exacerbates poverty in Africa.

Due to the economic impacts brought by the Covid-19 epidemic, poverty and hunger have been exacerbated. Impoverished children living in developing countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, Latin America and other places affected, are suffering in many aspects such as survival, health and education.

“2022 Nigeria Poverty Assessment Report” released by the World Bank in March shows that poverty in Nigeria has increased due to the Covid-19 pandemic impact.

According to research published in The Lancet Child Adolesc Health, there will be 5.2 million orphaned or abandoned children worldwide due to COVID-19-related orphan or caregiver fatalities, according to a study published in The Lancet Child Adolesc Health in April 2022.

We intend to give back to the community and accept some of our international social duties as a global crypto-asset trading platform. The CoinW Africa team reached out to the Living Fountain Orphanage in Lagos with the help of KOLs in the local crypto community and made a kind donation.

People’s hearts are warmed by love and kindness, and the world is a better place because of it.

Living fountain home is a non-governmental, non-profit organization which was established in 2007 out of the desire to provide shelter, succor, clothing, emotional care and hope for a better future for the motherless, abandoned, underprivileged and the poorest of the poor children in our society.

After carefully studying the orphanage’s requirements, the CoinW public welfare team determined that this general donation should focus on daily basics and anti-epidemic materials, such as drinking water, rice, milk, edible oil, paper towels, soap, disinfectants, thermometers, masks, etc. At the same time, this event teamed up with local crypto asset community owners in Nigeria to support public welfare and spread the love so that more people could engage in the orphanage assistance operations and increase the public welfare effect. The founder of the Living Fountain Orphanage, Ms Bethy Obieri, exclaimed: “The loss of a parent is difficult for children, but they are also fortunate. CoinW has my sincere gratitude for the gift. Thanks to these important supplies, children’s lives are filled with hope and stability.”

CoinW’s CEO said, “The Covid-19 epidemic has raised the poverty rate in West African countries, especially Nigeria.” Children are a country’s and a nation’s best hope for the future. Make a difference in the lives of orphans by providing them with the support and resources they need to thrive in a safe and nurturing environment. Also, I aim to encourage more people to pay attention to and care for these youngsters. At the same time, the charitable deed of giving back to the local community and caring for the disadvantaged groups in the area is also a part of the company’s culture. “Improve the overall image of CoinW in Africa and allow the CoinW brand to better integrate into the local society.”

However, the CoinW Nigerian charity action is not over. It would continue indefinitely as long as there are children in need in Nigeria. Future CoinW journeys of public welfare will have a greater sense of responsibility and mission to produce value. The dandelion of general interest and love can fly to more areas that require love and care. Everyone is welcome to join CoinW, participate in public welfare activities, and spread the love!

  • Should Your Pension be paid in Crypto or Local Currency?

Should Your Pension be paid in Crypto or Local Currency?

Do you sometimes look pitiful at pensioners because you think they are somewhat poor? Some of them might be and in 20 years from now, you would wish your pension was being remitted in crypto. I don’t want you to have that regret, so I’ll explain.

Your pension is the amount remitted to an account by both the employer and the employee with the employer paying the larger amount – showing a commitment that they care about life after retirement for you. Except if you earn in foreign currency, that amount is usually remitted in your local denomination.

This means that your retirement and your future plan are tied to the trend of your country’s currency. By now you should start thinking about different economic and non-economic policies that could affect your currency like devaluation and depreciation. Both do one thing – reduce the value of the local currency and thus bring inflation. People realise there is inflation where the local currency reduces its purchasing power. The word on the streets is that things are expensive. This automatically affects every investment or asset you have in your currency including your pension.

An Intentional look at Pension Investments.

If you’re lucky enough, your employer can undertake to contribute all your pension. Typically, Pensions paid by you(8% of your salary) and your employers (10% of your salary)go to an account called a pension fund and are supervised and managed by Pension managers and advisers. They don’t just save your money but promise a percentage that is compounded over a period of time. Returns are quite competitive among the different pension funds manager. Sometimes return can be as high as 20%. However, in 2021, the average return was between 5-8%.

    Source: https://www.pensionnigeria.com/pension-news/performance-of-all-pfas-in-nigeria-for-full-year-2021/

This is after these pension administrators invested in Government bonds, the Nigerian stock market, local money market and mutual funds. By now you should be interested in knowing the returns of your pension manager. Many employees passively receive their alerts monthly and are less concerned about how they are doing. You should be.

    Is Crypto any good?

In a situation where a country is grappling with double figure inflation, you can weigh the figures on your ROI and project if your pension investment is really worth it or you’re losing money as much as you make it. What if your pension is remitted in Crypto like USDT which is a stable coin and pegs 1:1 to the dollar? It means your pension is protected from currency devaluation or depreciation. Meanwhile, Bitcoin has been up in 5 figures of growth  since 2009. What if your pension was being remitted in Bitcoin? Some might even just retire because of the kind of returns their pension would have accumulated. However, there are regulations that govern work places and that may not be feasible to implement right away.

    What can you do?

If you’re fortunate to work in firms that comply with pension remission scheme, that is great. Having seen the limitation of this plan, you need an alternate investment in form of crypto. A great place to start is by having the Yellow Card App (available on the Google playstore and Apple App store) which offers the simplest interface to understand when buying crypto assets. After you have registered on the App and done all necessary verifications.Start by saving half the amount remitted to your pension fund in USDT, which is 9%. Or you can go further to buy Bitcoin which has shown no signs of slowing down since it’s inception in 2009. When you compare the returns from your pension to this in a few years time, you would wish you added more money buying crypto assets.

  • SPOUSES OF THE VICE CHANCELLORS IN NIGERIA

SPOUSES OF THE VICE CHANCELLORS IN NIGERIA

It is quite unfortunate the media has been used in the past few days to run down the voices of some mothers in the society. The voices of such women were to be heard above the noises in the country if not negatively back lashed.
The lubalu had been in the news that there is a committee of vice chancellors spouses in Nigeria and that they would be visiting Turkey for a conference.

This came while the spouses of the vice chancellors in Nigeria felt it was time for them to raise their voices concerning the on going and lingering ASUU strike in Nigeria. They had planned to have a meet up in Lagos and strategize on how they can reach out to concerned persons and necessary parties concerning the on going ASUU strike.

Speaking on behalf of the spouses of vice chancellors, Mrs. Edoumiekumo Adesewa R said there had been no invite or information to any wife of vice chancellor concerning any training in Turkey sent to her directly. It was sent to Secretariat of CVCNU. This so called invitation was not particular for the wives of vice Chancellors but for women in higher Education and other women in leadership. It therefore came as a rude shock and confusion to her and others when it was noised in the media that the wives of the vice chancellors will be embarking on a training in Turkey.

It will be absurd at this time to deny the fact that some spouses of vice chancellors in Nigeria had been meeting. However, it will be pertinent to say there is no such Association of spouses of vice chancellors. The truth is that the spouses of vice chancellors who had been attending vice chancellors meeting with their spouses had been relating while their spouses were around to have the usual vice chancellors meetings. Most of the spouses of vice chancellors are also academia, lecturers, captains of industries and leading administrators who use the opportunities of the meetings to net work, do research and relax if necessary.

It was from this unstructured meetings that the idea was initiated for them to have a meeting in Lagos and not Turkey as it’s been circulated. These type of meet up they believe would give the people concerned the opportunity to share experiences, over the sensitive offices their spouses are occupying and also strategize on how to raise voices concerning the long ASUU strike.

It is worthy of note that some of the federal, state and private universities over the years have formidable women groups wherein the wife of the sitting vice chancellor becomes the automatic leader. The women group had embarked on very laudable projects in the universities which includes building of crèches, nursery and primary schools and hall of residence to mention a few.

However, in the midst of negative publicity and unedifying criticism, some wives of University vice chancellors along with some female leaders in the universities met in Lagos. This was to take the bull by the horns and add their voices to the many noises going on in the country on the prolonged ASUU strike. They came under the name ‘ concerned Mothers “. The meeting was held in a guest house in Lagos . Part of the meeting had Mrs Awosika in attendance who came to speak about requirements of leadership.

The concerned mothers later visited the wife of Lagos State Governor, her excellency, Dr (Mrs) Ibijoke Sanwo-olu where they appealed to her to use her good office and position as a wife of the Governor to appeal to concerned parties to help look into how the strike would end so our institutions of study will be better off. The wife of the Governor was impressed at the visit of the concerned mothers and their interest in offering a voice to see to the end of the long strike. She there for promise to do everything in her disposal to see that such voice is raised very high.

The women also took a trip to see the wife of Ogun state Governor. Her excellency, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun. There they also appealed to her to kindly raise a voice among the Governors wives forum and also appeal to her husband to use everything possible to see that the strike ends. The wife of the Governor warmly welcomed the women and promised to speak at the governors wives forum about the visit of the concerned mothers. She promised to speak with her husband too trusting that the voices being raised will have positive effect on ending the strike .

It will be note worthy to say that the spouses of the vice chancellors are people of high fliers in the society who can ordinarily raise funds on their own to attend conferences both at the local and international levels without needing to get financing of any type from the purse of University.

The current ASUU strike is of great worries to the concerned women as they are mothers who also have children in the Universities in Nigeria. It will be necessary to further emphasise that the wives of vice chancellors have not been contemplating going on any frolic journey as it’s been insinuated in the media . This is seen as a quick way to destroy the reputations and integrity of such women of honour. This women are also women who have children in schools in Nigeria and who will rather go to all lengths to see that the federal Government and ASUU reach a consensus agreement so the long lingering strike can come to an end.

    Signed:
    Mrs Edoumiekumo Adesewa R.

  • Logistics and legislation holding back awesome power of Africa’s digital revolution

Logistics and legislation holding back awesome power of Africa’s digital revolution

Just in the past few weeks, Google’s subsea Internet cable Equiano reached Lagos, Nigeria, while pan- African digital infrastructure provider Liquid Intelligent Technologies has inked a partnership with PEACE Cable Company to provide additional subsea Internet capacity in Mombasa. The developments are expected to have significant positive effects on African economies—the Equiano cable is expected to boost Nigeria’s GDP by $10.1 billion by 2025 and add 1.6 million jobs, while the Liquid-PEACE partnership will extend faster, more affordable internet to destinations from Angola to the DRC.

Indeed, the widespread availability of fast and affordable internet will be the key to unlocking Africa’s next industrial revolution and turbocharging the continent’s economies. According to some estimates, the internet could be worth a whopping $712 billion by 2050 if the rollout is managed appropriately.

There are a number of obstacles to overcome, however. For one thing, the connectivity just simply isn’t there yet and some of the high-profile initiatives to expand access cooked up by Western companies have fallen flat, while others have raised concerns that too much power will be concentrated in the hands of tech giants.

Governance is another sticking point. Africa’s internet is being held back by overbearing organizations bungling the management of precious internet resources, as well as myopic governments introducing illogical taxes that deprive their most vulnerable subjects of online access. There is a bright future for a digitally-connected Africa, but there are a multitude of issues which must be addressed first.

    Connecting the continent

Perhaps the biggest impediment to the African digital revolution is the absence of sufficient infrastructure. Internet penetration is just 40% on the continent and “moonshot” measures to address the issue have fallen short thus far.

One such case is Google’s Loon project, which envisaged floating giant balloons in space to beam 4G down to the Earth. However, the idea was plagued by affordability issues from the outset, with many Africans unable to afford technology to access Loon’s network. Elon Musk’s Starlink venture has fared better, with some 1,700 satellites providing access to half a million terminals worldwide – though none are yet in Africa and the continent is not expected to be served until the end of next year.
Even the success stories, like the Equiano cable and rival technology from Meta, come with a pinch of salt. Both ventures could prove to be huge steps forward in connecting Africa’s most remote communities – but both have raised concerns over the unprecedented amount of power that the two American behemoths will wield going forwards.

    An RIR unto themselves

It’s not just tech giants who are suspected of holding outsized influence, either. AFRINIC, the regional internet registry (RIR) in charge of allocating Africa’s dwindling IPv4 addresses, has been embroiled in a lengthy list of scandals and accusations of late.

After weathering a race row in 2016 and a sexual harassment court case in 2018, the body’s reputation suffered another massive blow the following year when it emerged that AFRINIC’s co-founder Ernest Byaruhanga had embezzled up to $50 million in IP addresses. CEO Eddy Kayihura vowed to hold all guilty parties accountable and clean up the organization’s act.

Unfortunately, his approach appears to have been overly heavy-handed, with AFRINIC even threatening national governments with the “draconian” revocation of their IP quotas for perceived oppressive measures. All the while, the internal machinations of the RIR do not seem to have improved, either, with the current board president Subramanian Moonesamy apparently maneuvering to cement his control by extending some members’ terms. Prospective candidates have referred to the board elections process as “not neutral”; a member of the community called it “election fraud” and a dissenting board member
described the boardroom wrangling as a “coup” that was “totally against the internal and external legal advice received by the Board”.

    Counterproductive taxes compounding issues

Elsewhere, national governments’ eagerness to monetize their citizens’ access to the internet has thrown another spanner into the continent’s journey towards connectivity. For example, Uganda attempted to deepen its tax income by introducing a levy on social media subscriptions in 2018, leading to an immediate 35% drop-off in usage and an uptick in VPN deployments.

Similar initiatives introduced in Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and Tanzania have precipitated the same outcomes, with tax revenues reduced rather than increased and usage suffering as a result. One particularly eye-catching measure in Benin saw a social media tax drive up the price of 1GB of data by 250%. Those measures might be well-intentioned, but by targeting the users instead of the suppliers and failing to differentiate between the economic circumstances of their citizens, governments are sidelining the poorest and neediest parts of society.

    Tremendous benefits almost within reach

Although the scale of those challenges might seem dishearteningly insurmountable, the potential benefits of improving African internet access and governance are even more sizable. According to a recent report from the International Finance Corporation (IFC), every 10% increase in mobile connectivity would yield a corresponding 2.5% hike in GDP per capita, reaching a maximum of $712 billion by 2050. Meanwhile, achieving an internet penetration rate of 75% would see the creation of 44
million job; for a continent that’s currently home to 690,000 developers, that would represent a huge step forward.

Given that the African population is expected to swell from 1.3 billion today to 2.5 billion by 2050, it’s imperative that this increasingly sizable portion of the global populace is not neglected when it comes to ensuring access to fast, affordable and reliable internet. The enthusiasm is certainly there from the investor community, with the half a billion raised in the first half of 2020 alone greater than any annual sum preceding it.

However, there is a real danger that this potential will be wasted if greater regulation is not introduced to control hubristic organizations like AFRINIC and prevent tech giants like Google and Meta from monopolizing the lucrative African market. Policymakers must take care to address these issues, building a regulatory framework that allows Africa to fully take advantage of the digital revolution.
