    SHERIF Shagaya, the Managing Director of Kashton Concept Nigeria limited, who wants to represent the people of Asa West, Kwara State in the House of Representatives (HoR) in 2015, is leaving no stone unturned to make his dream come true. Sources said he has been engaging in various empowerment programmes in his constituency to boost his goodwill.

    However, the billionaire businesswoman’s son is facing stiff challenge from the incumbent lawmaker, Hon. Moshood Mustapha, and another aspirant who is the Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Rasak Atunwa.

    While both Mustapha and Atunwa are said to have huge grassroots support, Sherif relies on his mother’s closeness to the corridors of power.

    The wedding at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Musa Yar”Adua Street, Victoria Island, attracted almost all the leading dignitaries in the mega city of Lagos, including icons of corporate Nigeria, including Leo Stan Ekeh, the Chairman of the Zinox Group, Dr. Cosmas Maduka, the Chairman of Coscharis Group and Mr. Phillips Oduoza, GMD/CEO of UBA Group and Nollywood stars Kanayo O. Kanayo, Francis Duru and Lillian Bach who graced the colourful occasion with the reception at Grand Ball Room of the prestigious Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island. And the most sensational twin brothers in the music world, PSquare (Peter and Paul Okoye), entertained the over 1, 300 guests at the wedding.

    Chief Obianodo had maintained a low profile since the robbery attack.  While he sustained gunshot injuries which made him travel abroad for medical attention, four others were killed including a policeman.

    SENATOR Folasade Grace Bent was able to break the ethnic barrier in 2007 when she defeated many of her opponents in the senatorial election to represent Adamawa South, the largest senatorial district in the state, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Since then, the Ilesa, Osun State-born beautiful woman has been a major determining factor in Adamawa politics.

    Because of alleged conspiracy by the then governor of the state, she was unable to secure the party’s ticket in 2011, though she is a major player and a politician to reckon with in her husband’s home state.

    The woman of means, we gathered, has gone to pick the form to return to the Senate. Hundreds of her supporters came all the way from Adamawa State to show their loyalty when the beautiful politician went to obtain her form at the party headquarters in Abuja last week.

    Apart from being a strong advocate of inter-tribal marriage, the elegant lady is at the forefront of women participation in government. She cut her teeth in politics at the University of Calabar, as she was actively involved in students’ unionism. Before entering the Senate, Grace Folashade Bent was the political adviser to the then PDP National Chairman, Audu Ogbeh. After election in 2007, Bent became the Chair of the Senate Committee on Environment. In this capacity, she was involved in a controversy over an extension of permission for gas flaring granted to oil companies by the late President Umaru Yar’Adua without consultation with the Senate. Senator Bent opposed the establishment of a Desert Control Commission on the basis that this would subsume or duplicate the functions of the National Committee on Ecological Problems.

    UJU Vanstasia, the daughter of the Imo State governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, tied the nuptial knot with Uzoma Tony, the son of the Secretary to the Government of Imo State, Prof Anthony Anwuka. The traditional ceremony took place in Okorocha’s home town, Ogboko, on Thursday, 9 October, while the wedding proper was held at Saint Joseph Catholic Chaplaincy, Imo State University, Owerri, on Saturday, 11 October.

    The people’s governor has given out two of his daughters in marriage to sons of Imo State since he became the Executive Governor of the state. He gave out the first daughter to Chief Uche Nwosu from Nkwerre Local Government Area and has now given out the second daughter to Mr Uzoma Tony Anwuka from Oguta Local Government Area, which sources said is the governor’s clear demonstration of an unbridled love for the state and her people.

The deceased, who was the executive director of Tastee Fried Chicken, was described as young, energetic and dedicated with an unusual passion for the Tastee Fried Chicken business. He touched many hearts with his humble disposition and business creativity.

    To immortalise the late Olubunmi, two innovative creations came alive and were both dedicated. The first was the unveiling of ‘Bunmi’s Place, the TFC Headquarters renamed after the deceased. His widow, Oluwayemisi Adedayo, explained that the building is a monumental representation of what the late Bunmi stood for. The building has therefore become a unique symbol of his values and ethics.

    The second creation was the launching of ‘Bunmi Bread’ which the late Bunmi Adedayo had worked tirelessly to bring to fruition during his lifetime.

His daughter, Barrister Nonye Ubah, who got married to Junior Anyim Udeh, son of a former senator, has welcomed a baby boy. The couple got married traditionally on June 29,2013 and a lavish wedding ceremony later took place in October at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.
