  • Yobe killings: NOSCEF calls for actions

    •Uche expresses outrage

The Northern States Christian Elders Forum (NOSCEF) has called on security forces to halt further killings in the Northeast.

It said last week’s killing of over 50 boys at the Federal Government College of BuniYadi Yobe State was a crime against humanity and an attack on all Nigerians.

The group, in a statement by its president, Olaiya Phillips and National secretary, Barrister Emmanuel Subilim, said: “This slaughter of the innocent is just the latest and worst example of Boko Haram’s violence, cruelty and hatred for all the people of Nigeria – Christian and Muslim.

“This is more than a tragedy for BuniYadi and Yobe State. This is an attack on all Nigeria and all Nigerians. It is a crime against humanity itself.”

It added: “No child, no family, no citizen should have to rely on God’s mercy alone for protection from these killers. We rightly expect the armed forces to prevent these outrages and protect our children and ourselves from these terrorists.

“Yet, while Buni Yadi’s children were being butchered in their beds, the Chiefs of Nigeria’s Armed Services were sleeping.

“We demand that the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh, urgently lives up to President Goodluck Jonathan’s orders and ensures none of the army are sleeping at their post until the lives of peaceful Christian and Muslims across Northern Nigeria are properly protected.”

The Prelate of the Methodist Church Nigeria, His Eminence Dr Samuel Uche, expressed ‘great shock and sadness over the gruesome attacks.

In his reaction made public by the Church’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Rev. Oladapo Daramola, Uche said: “The targeting of children is heinous and unthinkable.”

He added: “This was a senseless loss of innocent young lives, especially since schools should be sanctuaries for our children.

“These children are innocent, full of life and promise but cut down in a hail of bullets in a preventable ‘act of terror.”

“We’re going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics and our religious biases.

“We have had too many deaths all different acts of terror and yet, we seem to have no clear-cut direction on how we intend to put a stop to this madness.

“It saddens me to see that no one is being brought to justice in all of these evil acts as if the perpetrators are ghosts and not men like us. Until the promoters of these satanic events are unmasked and brought to book, these attacks may continue unabated.”

  • ‘Criticisms by men of God cannot stop me’

‘Criticisms by men of God cannot stop me’

The General Overseer of Mountain of Liberation and Miracle Ministry, aka Liberation City, Dr Chris Okafor, spoke with Sunday Oguntola on the many criticisms against him and his unique ministerial operations. Excerpts:

The church clocked 10 last November. How has the journey been?

We appreciate God who has been helping us to fulfill the mandate that He gave us. He’s been our helper; our sustainer and father. We are not there yet because our best is yet to come. But we give God praise for where we are. God gave us a one billion-soul mandate and we are very far from there. It is not easy to reach one billion people.

So, how far have you gone in fulfilling the mandate?

We have reached a lot of people. Last year, we had crusades in Enugu, Abuja, Warri and other places. We were in Cameroon, South Africa and even the United States of America. We are reaching souls.

We also have our TV ministry. We have a station that reaches all countries in Africa and three in Europe. As I talk to you, we are at the verge of entering into another platform that reaches every part of Europe. We are at advanced talks with Galaxy that covers all parts of America with a view to reaching the one-billion soul mandate. I am not in the church now or at a crusade but we are reaching souls. They are seeing us on TV and other media outlets.

Your environment and look depict class and excellence. Why these dashing looks, considering you are a preacher?

You see, this has always been part of me. I grew up in a poor family. My father was a carpenter and my mother a vegetable seller. We were so poor even the poor called us poor. About 11 or 12 of us lived in one room. We used to wear one clothe for a year. I went through what we used to call ‘wash and wear’. You wash in the night, spread overnight and wear the following day.

So, it is not about wealth but discipline. I found out that the Spirit of God likes excellence. So, that accounts for how I always appear. Jesus was a powerful dresser. John said he was not worthy even to untie the lace of his shoes. Those scandals must be expensive.

He used designer perfume because the alabaster oil that Mary poured on him was the most expensive in those days. It was so powerful that Judas, who was not there when she was pouring it, perceived the aroma, came over and said it should have been sold and the proceeds given to the poor. That tells us the class that Jesus belonged to.

People have always wondered just where you are coming from. You just seem to have appeared from nowhere.

Well, I grew up in a Christian home. I encountered Christ at eight. My parents were elders in the Anglican Church then. Everybody must wake up 5am everyday for devotion. By 9pm, we gathered for night prayers. Everybody in the family must fast three days -on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays – every week. So, the upbringing didn’t allow me anything less. It shaped my ministry and calling.

Did you work in any church or under any man of God?

I was indirectly influenced by the late Archbishop Benson Idahosa. We were living in Benin City then. I was privileged to be under him, though not at a close range. There were other ministers who also influenced me.

Were you a member of any church before this church started?

No, I was not. We started a fellowship once I was in Lagos, which metamorphosed to this church. I never belonged to any church until then. The fellowship started in the house of an Anglican priest, who was of help to me. And you know it is not difficult to kick off from that angle, considering there was no platform.

Did you attend any theological school for ministerial training?

None at all. I was tutored under the late Archbishop Idahosa. We always misunderstand something in life. Bible school does not make you called; it is God that calls people. You can go to Bible school and still not have the calling. I have a study where I have read over 1,000 books. The Bible says Jesus called his disciples and gave them powers. He called, not Bible school. That I did not go to Bible school does not mean I was not called.

What has kept you going despite all the criticisms against you?

It is God. There was a time the Apostles were arrested and were at the verge of being killed. A man in the opposition said if what they were doing was of God, they would survive and no attempt to stop them would succeed. Whatever is of God will last. If the opposition is not there, I won’t be on my toes. So, enmity is useful in many ways. When the Israelites were in captivity, the Egyptians left all the jobs to them. Today, the Israelites are the best doctors, engineers and so on. So, enemies can be blessings in disguise.

Don’t women trouble you, considering your dashing look?

(Laughs) You see, I don’t leave my house; I am always in my house. There are some deliberate walls I built around myself that are difficult to break. I don’t see anyone except on appointments. I have protocols and security men around me. So, it is difficult for any woman to access me. I don’t go to functions or any social engagement. You can’t find me outside.

    Why?

I am not called for that. I fast every day. You can imagine if I wake up every 2am, I pray until 8am. I go back to bed and normally sleep at daytimes. So, it is difficult for any woman to access me.

Many have said you are just a flash in the pan that will soon fizzle away. How do you react to this?

If I am of God, no man will be able to stop me. I will be around for as long as God wants. This is the same way they fought TB Joshua and the man is still around.

What is your relationship with TB Joshua?

No, I don’t know him at close range. We have never met but I know God is using him. I like his charity works and prophetic ministry. I think we are similar but there is no need to meet at all.

You have a habit of calling people’s cases during services using their mobile lines, home addresses and even car particulars. Many ministers have accused you of manipulating those details. How do you react to it?

I Corinthians 2:15 says a natural man can never understand the things of the Spirit. The ministers saying that don’t have understanding. Jesus told people things about them. In John 4, he told the Samaritan woman everything about her life. He saw Zaccheaus and said come down Zaccheaus. He needed an ass one day and told his disciples where to get it. He told them to tell the owner he had need for it.

Those who are talking do not have knowledge. They didn’t realise Jesus ran a prophetic ministry. God tells us everything He needs to. Sometimes, a football match is going on and God will tell us how it will end. So, when people don’t know how something operates, they oppose. I have been doing this as a prophet since eight.

So, many ministers have things against you. Why is this?

Listen, the level of what God is doing here is so mind-boggling. I have nothing against anybody; no pastor is my enemy. If there is anything you don’t seem to understand, go to God and ask Him about me. They are not the God that called me. The meat that has fat will throw itself on the fire. If they are against me, look at their results and look at mine. Look at their ministries and look at mine. That will balance the answer.

  • Engaging Praise For Fearful Blessings!

Praise is a spiritual platform for fearful blessings. We also understand from scriptures that, it is the blessings of the Lord that make rich, multiply and change our stories, without sorrow coming into our lives (Proverbs 10: 22).

The reason for that is very simple: every time we praise God, we are blessing Him. I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth (Psalm 34:1; Psalm 103:1; Psalm 104:1). That means, praise is a spiritual way man blesses God.

Also note that, whatever good thing any man does, the same he shall receive from the Lord (Ephesians 6:8). That means, by blessing God, we are provoking His blessings on our lives (Psalm 67:5-7). This is so important.

What Are The Virtues In Divine Blessings?

It empowers us to live a struggle-free life: The blessing of God is the gateway to a struggle-free life (Proverbs 10:22).

Divine blessing makes us indestructible: One of the virtues in blessings is our indestructibility. “…Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it….” (Isaiah 65:8). We are indestructible with implanted blessings.

Divine blessing empowers us to prevail: We prevail by divine blessings, where others travail.

Three major channels of blessings in Scriptures:

Understand that no one can bless himself. It is a mystery! Blessings are channelled through others, which can be classified into three:

From God directly: In Genesis 22:16-18, God swore a blessing on Abraham. So, we can encounter the raw blessings of God directly from Him.

Prophetic and priestly blessings: God gave Balaam commandment to bless, and because he had proclaimed the blessings, God sealed it. Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it (Numbers 23:20). When prophets stand in the name of the Lord and implant a blessing, they commit God’s integrity to confirm it (Isaiah 44:26).

Parental channel of blessings (Ephesians 6:2-3): The blessings of our parents are part of the making of our lives. It was the blessing of Jacob that prevailed in the life of Joseph (Genesis 49:26). It was the blessing of Isaac that caused Jacob to prevail, in spite of all his challenges in life (Genesis 27:22-29). So, there are automatic blessings that accrue to us, through the parental channel. We must get to a point where we have such blessings proclaimed on us, so we can begin to manifest them.

Blessings accrued to us by the mystery of praise:

When praise becomes our lifestyle, blessings will become our natural experiences; we won’t struggle for them. That is why men that are addicted to praise don’t run out of blessings. The following blessings, amongst others, are to be expected to flow to us from our praises:

Divine favour: Divine presence is a carrier of divine favour, and God inhabits the praise of His people (Psalm 22:3). So, when we are in praise, we enjoy divine presence, which naturally engenders divine favour.

Deliverance from all forms of bondages and captivities: There was a king by name Saul, and evil spirits came to torment him. But, every time David played on the harp, the evil spirit left him (1 Samuel 16:14-23). What does that mean? That means high praises guarantee automatic deliverance.

Supernatural harvest: He that reapeth receiveth wages as he gathers fruit unto life eternal (John 4: 36). When you sow to the spirit, you reap life eternal.

It is a platform for executing judgment in the camp of our enemy: Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand; to execute vengeance upon the heathen… (Psalm 149:6-9).

Supernatural Breakthroughs: When God came in the midst of the Israelites, the sea saw them and fled (Psalm 114:1-9).

Supernatural Restoration: If you have lost anything, you are getting it back seven-folds. As Jesus gave thanks, what was stinking came back to life (John 11:40). As you give God praise, I decree the supernatural restoration of anything the enemy might have robbed you of! Receive it now, in Jesus’ name!

Friend, the power to access these blessings is available if you are born again. You get born again by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are set for this new birth experience, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. I cannot help myself. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Deliver me from sins and satan, to serve the Living God. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Now, I know I am born again!

Every exploit in life is a product of knowledge. For further reading, you can get my books: Understanding The Power Of Praise and Wonders Of Praise.

  • Anglican Church honours couples

    Anglican Church honours couples

Saint Thomas Anglican Church Ese- Ikare, Ondo State last week conferred the proprietor and principal of Greater Tomorrow International School, (GTI) Mr. James Lawal, with the Otunba Baba Ijo title.

It also installed his wife, Mojisola, as Iya Akorin.

The officiating Minister, Right Reverend Gabriel Akinbiyi, of Akoko North Diocese, said the couple deserved the honour going by their contributions to the development of the church.

The Parakoyi of Ikire, His Royal Highness Oba Okeluse, described the Lawals as loving and God-fearing.

He said: “Lawal is a great philanthropist. He is not arrogant but very humble and has contributed greatly to his hometown in Ikire.”

Mr. Jide Tububo, a long-time friend of the Lawals, said: “I thank God for the great honour bestowed on him. He has turned down many chieftaincy titles but he appreciates working for God. I will now be calling him chief.”

Lawal thanked the church for the honour, saying he was ready to do more.

According to him: “Now I have more responsibilities in the church.

“I believe we should contribute our own quota to the development of the church, for it is our first home where morals are taught.”

The couple donated an 18-seater bus and an undisclosed amount of money to the church.

  • ‘Polygamous clerics are fake’

Church leaders who have more than one wife are not genuine men of God, founder of Voice of Salvation Evangelical Ministry Lagos, Prophet Joseph Olu-Ayeni, has said.

“Pastors who practise polygamy cannot be genuine men of God; they are fake. If really you are hearing from God, you will not commit adultery,” he stressed.

Olu-Ayeni spoke ahead of the weeklong crusade organised by the church, which starts by February 24 in Ikorodu Lagos.

He said: “As a cleric, if you can manage a woman you can manage a congregation. But if you cannot manage a woman, then how can you manage a congregation?

“So it is not the will of God for any man, let alone pastors to have two wives.”

He advocated spiritual solution to the raging Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast.

Olu-Ayeni explained: “Examples of how political leaders run to men of God for solutions during crisis period abound in the Bible.

“Therefore, government should seek spiritual solution to the Boko Haram menace by asking notable men of God to set aside a period for prayer.

“Let the federal government gather men of God together in a particular place for days and challenge them to pray for impeccable divine intervention.

“I bet the solution would come faster than expected and insecurity and Boko Haram would become a thing of the past.”

Prophet Olu-Ayeni warned pastors who use crusades to make money to desist from the practice because of its negative implications on Christianity.

  • Confab‘ll be a waste of time if…

The National Director of the Voice of Christian Martyr, Rev Isaac Newton-Wusu, has appealed to President Goodluck Jonathan to allow discussions on the continuous existence of Nigeria at the proposed national conference.

Newton-Wusu made this appeal in an interview with The Nation last week in his office in Lagos.

He said that the National Conference is a welcome development if President Goodluck Jonathan and the committee are serious and genuine in their intentions to bring about a strong and a more united Nigeria.

He took a swipe at the federal government’s recommendation that the entity of a united Nigeria should not be discussed or tampered with at the national conference, saying this has clearly shown government has predetermined the outcome of the conference.

He noted that Nigeria practices America’s democracy which guaranteed freedom of thoughts, movement, speech and religion which have been undermined with the no-go areas.

Newton-Wusu decried the increasing number of people, most especially women and children, killed in northern parts of the country.

According to him: “There is no point deceiving ourselves. If we are actually well-meaning for generations yet unborn, let us sit down and work out a nation where we can live together as Nigerians.

“I want to be able to hug and show love to fellow Nigerians irrespective of tribes, languages or religions which have become dividing factors in Nigeria.”

He continued: “If the north says we don’t need you, don’t they have their right? We have these situations in many Africa countries where there are divisions upon divisions but it only pays the ruling elites who benefit from these things. I will not canvass for the division of Nigeria, but it should be discussed.”

  • Cleric harps on essence of integrity

The Chairman, Executive Council of Nigeria Association of Christian Journalists, Apostle Bolaji Akinyemi, has charged Nigerians to maintain integrity and work towards eradicating corruption.

He spoke when he led a three-man delegate on a courtesy visit to Vintage Press Limited, publishers of The Nation in Lagos.

Akinyemi was accompanied by the group’s general secretary, Pastor Charles Okhai, and the prayer coordinator, Pastor Toyin Praise.

He bemoaned the spate of corruption in the country and called for attitudinal change among public office holders and ordinary Nigerians.

The cleric explained many public office holders loot the treasury because they lack integrity and the fear of God.

He hinted that the group has been encouraging people of proven integrity through its annual Integrity Awards, noting that one of the recipients, Mr. Tunde Ogunsakin, has just been appointed Commissioner of Police in Rivers State.

He described The Nation as one of the leading newspapers in terms of balanced and accurate reporting.

“Everything we see in each edition of your newspaper is truth in defence of freedom. Our association is committed to fighting corruption and we discovered that is the path that you are also treading.

“We need to network with you for our subsequent programmes to properly channel our integrity message and we look forward to cooperation from you in this regards,” Akinyemi added.

The Online Editor, Lekan Otufodunrin, promised the delegation total support, stating that the newspaper is always disposed to networking with those committed to sanitising the nation.

  • Why morals are poor, by Martins

The Catholic Bishop of Lagos Diocese, Archbishop Alfred Martins, has blamed loss of family values for the moral decadence in the society.

He spoke last week at a press parley on the church’s Family 2014 Anniversary with the theme, the family as a domestic church.

Martins also descended hard on promoters of same-sex, describing the practice as against the law of nature.

On loss of family values, he said: “In recent years, the rate at which marriages are crumbling is alarming and the effect on the couples and children is unimaginable.

“The effect of this aberration on the larger society is no less devastating. It is no exaggeration if we blame the many ills of today’s society on broken homes and failed and irresponsible marriages.”

He said the church has consistently valued marriage as an institution ordained by God, stating that homes can fix the many challenges in the nation with the right mindset.

Martins expressed the church’s readiness to teach the right marital values and principles to save the nation.

He lamented the concept of marriage is being given a different meaning in the society today, especially with the agitation for same-sex marriage.

According to him, “The Catholic Church believes in the sanctity of marriage. It is a permanent union between a man and a woman entering into a permanent relationship. Anything outside this is not encouraged.”

He, however, added that just like Christ, the church does not hate sinners but frowns at sins.

On corruption, the Archbishop said the menace is not peculiar to Nigeria but is a worldwide phenomenon.

“Corruption is a worldwide hydra-headed monster, which is also direct consequences of the decadence in societal values.

“People are no longer faithful to the values of their faith because no faith encourages corruption from its members. In Nigeria, it is endemic because of the get-rich syndrome.”

  • ‘People look down on female preachers’

‘People look down on female preachers’

Pastor Atinuke Adesanya is the founder and senior pastor of Grace to Grace International Ministries, Dagenham, UK. She spoke with Sunday Oguntola on the challenges of being a female church leader as well as the many humanitarian strides of the church. Excerpts:

What kind of a church do you run?

The church is about 15 years, but we started Grace to Grace International Ministries some five years ago. It’s a family church and we believe in the power of the word. One of the things that make us different is that we do more of projects. We believe in helping the less-privileged.

What bought you home this time?

From time to time, we go to nations to alleviate suffering. We have been to Uganda, Kenya, UK and Nigeria for projects. What we do are projects not because of churches. We have a project in Ikorodu that people thought was going to be a church. The purpose is to help the masses, so that they can see the other sides of Christianity. We have to be able to show people the same grace and mercies that we have received from God because we are the only Bible now that people are reading.

We are more into humanitarian projects. Jesus not only walked on the streets of Jerusalem and Judea but he met individual needs

What are some of the projects you have done in the UK for a start?

In the UK right now, we started a foundation called Atinuke Adesanya Foundation. What we do every Saturday, we go to Dagenham Library and we are recognised by the council there. We give aids to people. We offer medicare because we realised there are lot of cut downs in the UK. A lot of the hospitals, especially walk-in-centres, have been shut down. What we do every Saturday is to do blood check and cholesterol check. We also assist the less-privileged because some of the benefits have been cut down. We give them food and it is amazing.

In Nigeria, what have you done?

We are doing the same thing we do abroad over here. We have been able to do empowerment programme. We have concentrated in Isawu parts of Ikorodu. We have trained people there and released them to stand on their own. Some of them are now self-sufficient.

What new programme is in the offing?

It is called GAMP 2014, meaning Grace and Mercy Programme. What we want to do is to launch it on 3rd May. We have doctors and nurses coming from abroad to run checks on people. You find out that people don’t go to the hospitals. In fact, abroad even where there are facilities, people are just afraid to do checks because they don’t want to hear any bad news. But what they don’t know is that what you know, you can fight and that can prolong your life.

In fact, I was talking to a colleague in America who stated that cancer kills more blacks in America. The white Americans have higher vulnerability to cancer but they detect early and work round it. But blacks don’t care to know. That is why it kills more blacks.

So we are focusing on Isawu, Igbo Olomu and Agric communities in Ikorodu. We want to check their blood level, cholesterol and train them on computer. We have free laptops that we want to give out to outstanding students among our trainees. We are bringing used clothes, bags and even shoes that we can distribute to those who want.

Why did you choose Ikorodu of all places?

There are no specific reasons why we chose Ikorodu. At least, I am not from Ikorodu. One of the reasons why we chose Ikorodu is because we have a land there. We want to build a health centre, church and bible school in the future on the land.

When you do stuffs like these in this part of the world, you must have a political or religious agenda. So, are you starting a church any time soon in Ikorodu?

Yes, we are starting a church in Ikorodu. We are starting with a house fellowship. And you must know that land has been there for the past eight years. So, we are not doing this empowerment because of the church. If we wanted to do that, we would have started eight years ago. We just want to touch people and empower them.

Are these projects sponsored solely by the church?

    Yes, they are.

    No grants whatsoever?

None, I can assure you. The sponsorship is solely by the church. The last one was from the church’s purse. This GAMP, I just shared with them what we want to do and my people are dangerous givers.

It must be a big church then to be able to handle such projects?

    Yes, it is.

    Is it dominated by Nigerians?

We have members who are Nigerians, Ghanaians, Jamaicans, Sierra Leones, Zimbabweans and others.

How is it like being a female church leader?

It is the same everywhere. A lot of people believe that women are not supposed to lead churches and I always have a simple illustration for them. I tell them if a man drowns in a river and he needs assistance, will it matter to him if a woman offers to help him out? Everybody keeps saying it doesn’t matter. So, I have challenges as a female church leader. People wonder why my husband is not in the ministry. There is an evil I have seen here.

If a man is called, the woman automatically joins him in the ministry and I believe it should not be like that. Ministry is not by nomination but by calling. That a man is called does not mean the wife should join him. Same with the woman who is called.

My husband is not in the ministry with me and I don’t have to force him to join me. He is into secular practice. Our first son is a pastor and I did not influence anything. When God called him, it was glaring to everyone. Everybody knows that going by what he does in the kingdom that he has a calling. He had to go to Oral Roberts University, came back to London and joined the church. I can’t force my husband to say he has to be a pastor. He recognises the call and anointing of God upon my life. He supports the church and has his own work.

I have a lot of challenges with acceptance until people come around and see what God is doing through us. I have a deliverance service every Tuesday and people see what God is doing. Demons are crying out, God is delivering people and the barren are getting fruits of the womb. Then, people don’t mind again that I am a woman of God.

People have challenges with female preachers. They say they are not submissive at the home fronts. Is that true with you too?

I really can’t speak for myself. If I had some of my members here, they would have been able to speak for me because I can’t blow my own trumpet. If my husband were here too, he would have been in the best position to talk on it. For example, I don’t travel without his permission and I travel a lot. Today, I have spoken with him, feeding him on what I have done. So, we are pretty close. I wish he was the one speaking now.

Well, many female preachers also hardly have time for their children, making many of them become delinquents. Maybe you can blow your trumpet on how well or badly your children are doing now.

I have four children, and by the grace of God, all of them have turned out good. My first daughter is here. Last year, she told me she wanted to move back to Nigeria. So, she is here. She is finishing her youth corps in February. She said she wanted to see life and be part of what she came from. Now, she is the manager in a micro-finance company, LAPO Bank in Ikeja. She is standing out and doing a marvellous job there.

I have my second child, who is a pastor. Both of us are in the ministry and we stand shoulder-to-shoulder. My third child has just graduated from the university and I have my last child in college. Every one of them will say that I am a good home manager despite my schedules. When I come back from church on Sundays, my first point of call is always my kitchen. I don’t allow my house helps to cook my food. I have to cook and look after my husband. What I don’t do recently is the cleaning of the house but I supervise that too.

My house help in Nigeria says she has never seen a woman like this. Up till now, I do my cooking myself. I don’t allow my house help to do it for me because I consider it as laziness. And I believe no one can cook to my taste.

So, churches have to be humanitarian?

Yes, we should be. I know many are not but may God open their eyes to see it. Church is not about the gospel; it is about what we want to offer. For example, we do a church humanitarian project but I have people whose school fees I pay. I have to take the burden off them. I preach the same to my members and some of them are following suit. They ask for names they can help and I offer from the many on my list.

I believe that pastors will come to realise as time goes on that showing people the human sides of God makes the gospel easier to preach. As we help people, you feel inner joy. The people appreciate what you do and the news spread quicker about Christ. But beyond the appreciation and what people say, you feel the joy. I don’t believe in living for myself but helping people to find fulfilment in life. When you help people, you are building a nation because the deposits you leave in them make them to be able to help others too.

    So givers don’t lack?

Never, givers never lack. The Bible says give and it shall be given to you. I tell people that when you give, it returns to you in multiple folds, not in the same measure. You find that because we give, our members are not where they used to be. There are testimonies of greatness and uplift.

Where are the branches of your church back in Nigeria?

We have two in Lagos. One in Ayobo and the other in Iju Water Works.

Why do you choose such average and not highbrow communities?

That is because we want to reach out to people in those areas. Those in Lekki are comfortable already. They need Christ as well but that will be later. We are interested in those down, down there for now.

By the time we go to Lekki, they will easily reckon with us.

  • Praise: Gateway to supernatural harvest!

Praise, amongst others, is the gateway to supernatural harvest. Fearful harvest is always in response to fearful praise. We must understand that harvest is only sequel to seed time. If no seed is sown, then harvest is never in view.

Remember, While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease (Genesis 8:22).

Your returns are in response to your investment. When there is no investment, returns are not in view, because in all labour there is profit (Proverbs 14:23). So, profit will only answer to input. There has to be something going in, for something to come out. Even when we have sown our seeds, it takes praise to reap our harvest.

    What Is In Praise?

Wonders: God shows us His wonders when we praise Him (Exodus 15:11).

Praise is the Gateway to Supernatural Harvest: Our harvest is not in view until our praises rise up to heaven (Joel 1:12). It is our praise that determines our harvest time. Fearful praises will always culminate in fearful harvest (Psalm 67:5-7; Genesis 8:20). So, we don’t talk of harvest without seedtime. It is, therefore, important for us to know that it is seedtime that precedes harvest.

The Bible recognizes different kinds of investment. According to scriptures, in all labour there is profit. That means our harvest or returns are a function of our investment.

    Dimensions of investment in scriptures:

Spiritual Investment: This is superior to any other kind of investment. It includes prayers and fasting i.e. interceding for the advancement of the Kingdom of God, and the wellbeing of the church of Christ (Mathew 6:6, 18; Colossians 4:12).

Soul-winning: This is a form of spiritual investment that guarantees amazing returns, which makes a star of every consecrated soul-winner. Every tireless soul-winner ends up a star (Daniel 12:3).

Mental Investment: We can also invest mentally into the Kingdom, by engaging in strategic planning and programming for effectiveness in our stewardship. So, it is not just about serving God, but also engaging strategically in it. He said: Come now, and let us reason together… (Isaiah 1:18).

Physical Investment: Our strength is required in our engagement with God. When we invest our energy in the service of the Kingdom, God multiplies it back to us. Our “energy-seed” returns to us as “energy-harvest” (Luke 10:27). So, see physical engagement as an opportunity for renewal of strength (Isaiah 40:31).

Material and Financial Seed: This is the key to material abundance and financial blessings. The seed we sow materially and financially, entitles us to returns (Malachi 3:10). Your material and financial investments are your access to the realms of financial fortune (2 Corinthians 9:8). There is, therefore, nothing you give to God that is wasted!

However, we are not to invest grudgingly or of necessity, for “God loveth a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7). That means He hates a grudging giver.

From Deuteronomy 28:47-48, we understand that we need joy in our service to God, else it becomes a curse. That is why we need the Holy Ghost for empowerment, and the anointing of the Holy Ghost is the oil of gladness.

In conclusion, it takes joy to invest acceptably; and it takes joy to access our returns. Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us (Psalm 67:5-6).

The Bible also says: Is any merry? Let him sing… (James 5:13). Therefore, receive the anointing to keep serving God tirelessly with the joy of the Lord that entitles you to His harvest, everyday of your life, in the name of Jesus!

Friend, the power for supernatural harvest is the preserve of those saved. You get saved by confessing your sins and accepting Jesus as your Saviour and Lord. If you are set, please say this prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Today, I accept You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You, Jesus for saving me!
