Education: Bildup AI unveils programs to boost learning in Nigeria

In a bid to address the critical challenges faced by academic institutions, organisations and individuals in the rapidly evolving job market, Bildup AI, a Nigerian indigenous AI startup, has launched over 15 innovative learning programs designed to empower learners with meaningful knowledge and skills.

Three of the programs which have already been unveiled include the AI Mastery Program (AMP), AI Workforce Readiness (AWR), and Business Growth with AI (BGA).

Chief Executive Officer of Bildup AI, Chibuike Aguene, said Bildup AI’s programs are carefully designed to cater for diverse learner demographics, including students, school leavers, young professionals, and senior executives.

He explained that through AI AI-powered learning platform, Bildup AI aims to deliver experiential learning, concept mastery, and real-world application, enabling learners to achieve their individual goals, adding that the programs are also tailored to address the urgent need for workforce readiness and business growth in the AI-driven economy.

He said, “We’ve carefully designed over 15 world-class learning programs to deliver meaningful knowledge that addresses critical challenges faced by organisations across industries, communities, and diverse learner demographics—including students, school leavers, young professionals, and senior executives. Today, we’ve opened enrollment for three programs for our early adopters:  AI Mastery Program (AMP), AI Workforce Readiness (AWR) and Business Growth with AI (BGA)

“In the coming weeks, we’ll release more programs and introduce advanced features. Bildup AI personalises each program for every learner, delivering experiential learning, concept mastery, and real-world application to help you achieve your individual goals.

“A silent but profound shift is happening across industries: the evolution of new roles driven by AI. This transformation is urgent. Organisations that fail to adapt may not survive, and individuals who ignore emerging roles may find themselves without jobs. Many roles will evolve; some will disappear. AI won’t replace all jobs, but it will reshape most of them.

“The pace of change is so rapid that no single institution, no matter how advanced, has the resources or expertise to continuously train people for these emerging roles. The knowledge is new, and there’s either a shortage of trained personnel or no experts at all.

“That’s where Bildup AI comes in as the powerhouse engineering of the future of education. Bildup AI is built to meet the ever-evolving demands of future learning, just as Google is organising the world’s information and making it universally accessible.”

Giving details of how the platform functions, the CEO said that it begins with a friendly conversation to understand each learner’s background and set the right context for their learning journey.

Aguene also encouraged learners to provide feedback, corrections, and contributions to help Bildup AI iterate and optimise the programs.

“We believe every learning journey should start with the ‘Why, ‘ regardless of whether the learner is a student, professional, or business executive. Why do you want to learn a particular concept or pursue a specific program? What do you intend to do with the knowledge? Bildup AI begins with a friendly conversation to understand your background and set the right context for your learning journey.

“Your engagement with Bildup AI starts with a pre-assessment conversation. To get the best results and achieve your goals, please be honest about your current knowledge level and learning objectives as you interact with Bildup AI.

“We believe learners must be active participants, not passive recipients, throughout the entire journey. Our vision of education is one where learners gain meaningful knowledge that can be applied to solve real problems.

“Africans, this is our moment. This is our project.  As a team, we’ve taken the first step to reimagine education in a way that empowers millions across the continent to gain meaningful knowledge and make a difference. We’re just getting started—and we can’t do this without you,” Aguene said.

Artificial Intelligence not as complex as it seems – Arowolo

In today’s fast- paced technological landscape, Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our daily lives. From predictive text on our phones to personalized recommendations on streaming platforms, AI is quietly working in the background to make our lives easier and more efficient.

Speaking at a forum in Lagos recently, Wellness coach and tech enthusiast, Toyin Arowolo in her speech titled: ‘How Do I ‘AI?’ emphasises the importance of understanding and embracing AI rather than dismissing it. She suggests breaking down AI into smaller, manageable parts and recognizing its applications in everyday tools and technologies.

While highlighting eight everyday applications of AI, she said: “AI is already around us. AI is working in the background of various tools and technologies, such as predictive text, Google search results, customer service bots, and personalized recommendations on streaming platforms.

  • NITDA, NIPR extol IMPR for pioneering AI in public relations

NITDA, NIPR extol IMPR for pioneering AI in public relations

The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) have commended Image Merchants Promotion (IMPR) Limited for its trailblazing role in deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) for public relations and fostering national intellectual growth through annual lecture and publications.

The commendations were delivered by the Director-General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa, and NIPR President, Dr. Ike Neliaku, during the 3rd Economic Confidential Public Lecture and PRNigeria Book Presentation held in Abuja, attended by policymakers, academics, security chiefs, PR professionals, and digital specialists.

Inuwa praised IMPR for pioneering the use of AI in audience analysis, media monitoring, content automation, event management, and crisis detection. AI, he said, presents Nigeria with a historic opportunity to skip development challenges, as automation could handle up to 30 percent of economic tasks and boost GDP growth by 20 percent. “Nigeria is not waiting for the future—we are building it now,” he declared. “By investing, innovating, and collaborating, we can turn the AI revolution into a Nigerian revolution of prosperity.”

Inuwa outlined the Federal Government’s digital transformation agenda, highlighting the formulation of a National AI Strategy, restructuring of the National Centre for AI and Robotics, and support for over 45 AI startups under the Nigeria AI Research Scheme. He also cited global partnerships with Google and collaborations with Nigerian universities as critical to accelerating AI adoption.

Speaking on behalf of NIPR, Dr. Afolabi Olajuwon called IMPR “a multi-award-winning PR agency renowned for innovation and vision.” He described the lecture theme—“Agenda for a Digital Global Economy”—as timely in an era where digital transformation is reshaping governance, trade, education, and healthcare. “Any nation that fails to embrace the digital revolution risks being left behind, while those that seize it can leapfrog barriers to growth and development,” he stated.

Neliaku particularly lauded the unveiling of three new books at the event: Diplomacy and Digital Innovation: Youths’ Insights, Healing Nigeria: A Chronicle of Health Reform and Hope, and Renewed Hope in Central Banking. He depicted them as “not just books, but tools for shaping informed conversations and evidence-based decision-making.”

The Chairman of the Centre for Crisis Communication (CCC), Major General Chris Olukolade (Rtd), applauded IMPR—the publisher of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential, and Tech Digest—for sustaining the lecture series he characterised as a “platform that strengthens dialogue on economic reform, digital transformation, and professional excellence.”

Reviewing the publications, Dr. Sule Yau Sule, Associate Professor of Strategic Communication and IMPR Board Chairman, hinted that nearly 70 percent of its staff have authored or co-authored books. He described ‘Renewed Hope in Central Banking’ by Rahma Olamide Oladosu as a lucid exploration of Nigeria’s monetary policy under CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso.

Sule praised ‘Healing Nigeria’, by Lawal Dahiru Mamman and Maimuna Katuka Aliyu, for its incisive analysis of health reforms, outbreaks, mental health, and biotechnology, while ‘Diplomacy and Digital Innovation: Youths’ Insights’, by NYSC members Fatimah Yusuf Usman and Umar Farouk Bala, was extolled for capturing youth aspirations in diplomacy, digital transformation, and reflections on the “Japa” phenomenon.

IMPR founder and Editor-in-Chief of Economic Confidential, Yushau A. Shuaib stressed the impact of AI in journalism and PR. He recalled the lecture’s previous editions focused on economic diversification in a cashless society (2023) and food security (2024); this year’s theme reflects Nigeria’s growing stake in the global digital economy. Shuaib announced the upcoming second edition of the PRNigeria Young Communication Fellowship, which equips emerging communicators with skills in journalism, AI, and strategic media engagement.

The event concluded with the bestowment of four “Economic Confidential Personalities of the Year” awards. The recipients: Mallam Kashifu Inuwa, NITDA DG, CEO of the Year for Digital Transformation; Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, for Industrialisation and Solid Minerals Development; Amb. Yusuf M. Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, for Economic Diplomacy and Regional Stability; and Dr. Zacch Adedeji, FIRS Chairman, for Championing Inter-Agency Cooperation.

  • T2, Huawei strike core network modernisation deal

T2, Huawei strike core network modernisation deal

Nigeria’s fourth mobile network operator (MNO), T2 has signed a strategic partnership with Huawei, a global leader in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), to modernize its core network infrastructure.

This agreement is coming as T2 posted its first gain of the year in July adding 290,601 new subscribers in the month, spurred by its recent infrastructure sharing deal with the largest MNO in the country, MTN Nigeria.

This came as the first monthly subscriber gain in nearly a year for the carrier that had experienced steady decline in its customer base over the years due to obsolete network equipment that took a toll on its service quality.

For July, T2 also emerged as the only operator out of the four MNOs that gained subscribers in a month that saw MTN, Airtel, and Globacom shed weight.

The T2-Huawei infrastructure modernization deal signals the start of a sweeping transformation, one that underscores T2’s renewed ambition to reclaim its position as a leading, innovative force in the industry.

It comes at a pivotal time, as the company transitions to a refreshed corporate and consumer identity, setting the stage for a new era of growth and competitiveness.

The partnership will draw on Huawei’s world-renowned technological expertise to completely overhaul T2’s core infrastructure, enhancing its capacity, resilience, and security. But this initiative goes far beyond a technical upgrade, it is the cornerstone of a multi-phase, company-wide investment strategy aimed at building a future-ready network, designed to meet and exceed the evolving expectations of Nigerian consumers.

During a high-level signing ceremony held in Lagos, senior execs from both companies gathered to mark the beginning of this transformational journey.

Representing T2 were its Chief Executive Officer, Obafemi Banigbe; Chief Operating Officer, John Vasikaran; Chief Technical & Information Officer, Ayodeji Adedeji; Vice President, Corporate Services, Ifeloju Alakija,; and Vice President, Brands and Communication, Seni Ogunkola.

The global original equipment manufacturer, Huawei, was represented by the CEO, Huawei Nigeria Carrier Business, Jiang Junyong.

“This agreement is more than a contract — it’s a catalyst. Huawei has been a trusted partner throughout our journey, and this next chapter reaffirms our shared commitment to innovation, reliability, and excellence. With Huawei by our side, we’re not just upgrading our network, we’re future-proofing it,” Banigbe said.

The core modernization project is part of T2’s four-phase strategic roadmap: Stabilisation, Modernisation, Transformation, and Growth. This structured approach signals a deliberate and focused effort to restore the company’s competitive edge and build a more agile, customer-centric network.

Echoing Banigbe’s vision, Junyong emphasized the strength of the alliance, saying Huawei is proud to support T2’s bold transformation journey.

“This partnership reflects our shared commitment to innovation and excellence. We’re bringing world-class solutions to help T2 build a resilient, high-performance core network that will support next-generation services and long-term growth,” Junyong said.

With this collaboration, T2 is poised to significantly expand its network coverage, capacity, and resilience nationwide. More importantly, it marks the first of several bold initiatives aimed at restoring the company’s market leadership, revitalizing its service portfolio, and delivering a digital experience that truly resonates with modern Nigerian consumers.

The core network modernization is expected to reach completion in the coming months, firmly anchoring T2’s resurgence in a fast-moving, tech-driven future.

During the period under review, active mobile subscriptions dipped to 169.1 million from 171.5 million recorded in June this year.

The decline was driven by the losses recorded by the three MNOs but most significantly by Airtel, which lost 2.4 million subscriptions in the month.

The telco’s active subscriptions plunged to 56.5 million in July from 58.9 million it recorded in June.

MTN also lost 106,345 subscribers in the month, which brought its database to 89.1 million in July, while Globacom’s subscriptions declined by 143,701 to 20.7 million.

MTN remained the dominant player in the market with 52.70per cent of the market share, while maintained the second position with 33.42per cent share.

Globacom’s market share stood at 12.26per cent, while 9mobile’s maintained its distant 4th position despite the gains recorded with 1.61per cent of the market share.

With the decline in actively connected lines recorded by the operators, the country’s teledensity, which measures the number of active telephone connections per 100 inhabitants living within an area, also declined to 78.11per cent in July from 79.22per cent recorded in June.

According to NCC, the teledensity is calculated based on a population estimate of 216 million.

It would be recalled that on July 3rd, 9mobile (as it then was known) and MTN Nigeria officially announced a national roaming deal approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). The deal allows customers of 9mobile will be able to access network service anywhere MTN’s network is available across the country.

Prior to the deal, the operator had suffered huge subscriber loss as its network deteriorated due to lack of funds to build infrastructure.

With the national roaming deal, 9mobile subscribers will now be able to make calls, send SMS, and access data through MTN Nigeria’s infrastructure in areas where 9mobile’s network doesn’t exist or is unreliable, enabling the telco’s sustainability.

Instead of building out its own infrastructure, which is capital-intensive, 9mobile can now plug directly into MTN’s far-reaching network.

The deal and that of Huawei will certainly mark a game-changer for T2 as they will allow the MNO to leap toward broader network coverage and digital inclusion across the country.

Centre trains journalists to tackle misinformation

The Oak Centre has trained members of the Senate Press Corps to tackle misinformation and AI-generated falsehoods ahead of the 2027 general election.

The workshop, titled “Inside the Chamber: Reporting in the Age of AI Disorder,” brought together members of the Senate Press Corps for intensive sessions on countering disinformation in legislative reporting. Journalists were exposed to advanced simulation exercises on parliamentary misinformation, forensic verification of digital content, and newsroom-level crisis-response protocols.

The Training Coordinator at the Oak Centre, Samuel Ter Vincent, said, “The Chamber is where laws are made, but the press gallery is where public understanding is shaped. In the age of AI disorder, that understanding must be rooted in verified truth. The credibility of legislative reporting is not just a professional asset; it is a safeguard for democracy itself.”

Vincent said the training would be expanded to journalists nationwide to reinforce Nigeria’s preparedness to meet the challenges of AI-enabled disinformation and strengthen the integrity of democratic institutions.
