Expert give marriage recipe for singles

    Our Reporter

It is not every time romance counsellors offer free advice, but Nkpubre Arit Edet, the in-house dating coach of Lagosmatchmaker.com, avails every opportunity to give valuable nuggets about dating and marriage.

Her recent advice was for singles who are still looking forward to finding partners.
“I will advise singles to be intentional about finding love like they would be about every other aspect of their lives,” she counselled.

Nkpubre Arit Edet also addressed women on the awkward circumstance of having to be the first to make their feeling known to a man they love.

Said she: “I think it’s nice to have the option to choose who I am interested in first and then see if they are interested in me too.”

She continued: “Yes, I would advise anyone interested in a person to let it be known to that individual. I don’t think there is a particular gender that reserves the right to express their interest.”

The Lagosmatcmaker coach also shed some light on why some people find it difficult to get themselves serious partners and thus remain unmarried at 40 and beyond. Some of them, Nkpubre Arit Edet said, do not have marriage in their plan.

“Some may have had a bad experience in a relationship and haven’t healed yet. Perhaps, they are widowed or divorced and not willing to give love another try. They are too focused on work and have not given themselves time to be social,” she articulated.

She also added: “People who don’t go out and never meet anyone may find themselves unmarried at 40. So will those who have a strict list on what their future spouse should have and so dismiss others too soon.”

Bad qualities, Nkpubre Arit Edet opined, could be a general turn off and make it difficult for those prospecting for a relationship to find partners.
“In the same vein, people who are defensive and unwilling to change or who are too focused on other aspects of life and didn’t dedicate thoughts to finding a spouse could remain single past their 40s,” she said.

I’m grateful for all the lessons learnt and how strong all those challenges made me become” Thacutegeminme wrote on her Instagram page.

“Happy New Year to me. As I turn +1 today, I promise myself to let the past be in the past, no more dwelling on the past, no more regrets. Rector gets award

Rector of the Federal College of Dental Technology and Therapy, Enugu (FEDCODTTEN), Dr. John Emaimo, was has been conferred with the Most Outstanding Rector of the Year Award in Nigeria by the Association of Southern Nigeria Students (ASONIS)

The group said Emaimo’s selection followed an examination of the activities and profiles of various rectors that it received.

President of ASONIS, Comrade Chinedu Edeh, said the decision to confer the award on Emaimo was taken by over 60 selected Southern Nigeria students’leaders from the three geo-political zones.

“It is a tradition for ASONIS to choose people based on what they are doing and what they are capable of doing next, because from what one has done, we’ll be able to predict what he can do next. So many names were forwarded but Dr. Emaimo represents a father, a mentor and a great administrator because he has done so much for the Dental College. ASONIS picked him because of his good policies,” Edeh said.

Emaimo said he did not know that people were watching and taking note of the trends in the college under his watch.

He described the college as a student friendly institution where both academic and non-academic staff would not have been engaged if students were not there in the first instance.

“This college has transited from awarding Higher Diplomas to the level of degree awards. This is the first federal degree awarding institution in Enugu State and in the future, it becomes only a degree awarding institution and the college is focusing on critical areas of need,” Emaimo added.
