CECPC members pass vote of no confidence in Akpanudoedehe

Ten of the 12-member Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) yesterday passed a vote of no confidence in the committee’s Secretary, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe.

The secretary had in a statement announced the cancellation of the sub-committees put in place by then acting chairman Abubakar Sani Bello-led committee last week. He released a new set of panels.

Akpanudoedehe said the sub-committees he announced superseded the initial list.

Hours after, in another statement, Caretaker Chairman Buni disowned the list.

He reiterated that all activities carried out by acting chairman in his absence were valid.

The APC Caretaker Committee, through a notice issued on March 8,  by a majority of the members of the committee passed a vote of no confidence in Akpanudoedehe

The notice was signed by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello, Senator Ken Nnamani, Senator Yusuf Abubakar Yusuf, Prof Tahir Mammah, Senator Abba Alli, Mr.  David Lyon, Akinremi Olàide, Mrs Stella Okotete, Mr Ismaeel Ahmad and Dr James Lalu.

It said that the sack of Akpanudoedehe was done under Article 17 sub-section 5 of the constitution of the APC, which allows a majority of any constituted ad-hoc committee of the party to pass a vote of no confidence in any member found wanting.

The secretary has been absent in most of the meetings of the CECPC over the last couple of days and this may not be unconnected with the recently obtained notice dated March 8, 2022.

It was learnt that the 10-member committee at their meeting in Niger State Lodge yesterday resolved to insist on the removal of the Secretary, whom they accused of insubordination to constituted authority while the Chairman was away.
