CGC Premier League Final Phase: Customs, NSCDC extends dominance as Offa survive five-set thriller

Day 9 of the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League Final Phase in Abuja delivered another intense round of fixtures across both divisions, with title contenders reinforcing their ambitions and mid-table teams battling to stay relevant.

The day produced straight-set master classes, nail-biting five-set duels and key results that tightened the race as the final phase edges toward its conclusion.

In the men’s division, CNS Spikers continued their late push with a composed 3–1 victory over UCEM (25-21, 19-25, 22-25, 17-25). Offa VC were the day’s biggest entertainers, surviving an energy-sapping five-set contest to edge COAS Spikers 3–2 (25-16, 18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-13), a result that keeps them firmly in contention for a top-four finish.

Defending champions Nigeria Customs Service maintained their ruthless form with a clean 3–0 sweep over Nigeria Police (25-20, 26-24, 27-25), while Sunshine Spikers consolidated momentum from previous matchdays, defeating NAF Rockets 3–1 (25-20, 25-21, 19-25, 25-23). Kano Pillars also impressed, rallying from a set down to beat Nigeria Correctional Service 3–1, and NSCDC kept their title hopes alive with a commanding 3–0 win over Kada Kings.

The women’s fixtures were equally engaging, with Olalomi Royal Queens asserting dominance in a 3–0 win over Wikki Queens (25-23, 26-24, 25-22) to strengthen their top-four pursuit. NAF Rockets and Life Camp delivered the most dramatic women’s game of the day, a rollercoaster five-setter that ended 3–2 in favour of NAF Rockets after both sides exchanged momentum throughout (11-25, 25-17, 15-25, 25-19, 15-12).

Elsewhere, NSCDC swept aside Anambra Queens 3–0 in a one-sided contest, while CNS Spikers overpowered Kada Emeralds in straight sets.

The final fixture saw table-toppers Nigeria Customs Service reaffirm their supremacy with a 3–0 dismantling of Benue Queens (25-17, 25-13, 25-10), further tightening their grip on the top spot.

With just a few matchdays to go, the battle for podium places remains wide open, and every set is becoming increasingly decisive in the race toward the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League titles.
