A 37-year-old church worker, Sawadogo Claudine has been remanded in prison custody by an Ebute Metta Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged murder.
Claudine was arrested by men of the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigative Department (SCIID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos Mainland for allegedly killing a 67-year-old woman, Pejuola Disu, inside an undisclosed Catholic Church.
The accused, it was learnt, slashed the throat of the deceased with a kitchen knife. She was said to have macheted the deceased’s legs, cut her breasts and ripped open the abdomen.
It was learnt that the church operates a destitute home, where Claudine and Pejuola lived until the incident happened.
The deceased, it was learnt, was found dead in a pool of blood on 17 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island, on November 5 around 9:09pm.
Claudine’s plea was not taken. The accused is about 5ft tall.
The charge reads: “That you, Sawadogo Claudine on November 5 did kill one Pejuola Disu by slaughtering her with a kitchen knife by the throat. The two legs were severed from the kneels, two breast dismembered from the body and the abdomen ripped open and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 221 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos.
Prosecuting Inspector Babatope Julius asked the court to remand the accused in prison custody pending legal advice from the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP) office.
Magistrate M.O Olajuwon ordered the accused be remanded in prison custody. She adjourned the matter till December 12.
