Club moves to end open defecation

ROTARY Club of Omole in Lagos State has solicited support to provide modern toilets in markets and parks.

At the investiture of Ganiu Lawal as the club’s 19th president, and fund raising, the club said its project would align with the Federal Government’s goal of ending open defecation by 2025.

Lawal said the club embarked on rehabilitation of a block of four classrooms with collapsible demarcation at Ajuwon Senior High School for over N10 million.

He noted that the club decided to enhance teaching and learning faclities in the school as they were in deplorable condition.

“…We are equipping Rotary Club of Omole Golden Neonatal Building at Ifako Ijaiye General Hospital at N24,755,000, as well as providing toilets at markets and motor parks at N8,700,000.

“We are also looking at providing mathematics laboratory at Oke-Ira Junior Grammar School, Ogba, at N500,000, and promotion of menstrual hygiene and procurement of 3,000 dignity kits for girls in three public schools at N2,400,000.”

Outgoing president Favour Madu said the club had completed beautification and landscaping of the triangle at Isheri-Olowora junction leading to Berger-Ibadan Expressway, and built a giant rotary wheel cenotaph with the 4-way test inscription…’

“The club also renovated and equipped the Biology and Physics laboratories at Ajuwon Senior High School, and the principal informed us the gesture has greatly improved the pupil’s performance in WASSCE. We also distributed sanitary pads to 300 girls in the school, sponsored by Hayat Kimya Nigeria, makers of mopled sanitary pad,” Madu added.
