Lagos State Safety Commission (LSSC) has urged event planners, managers and hotel owners to be safety conscious.
Director General, Mr. Lanre Mojola, gave the advice yesterday at a one-day roundtable with event planners and managers, in conjunction with AQAATA Safety Company.
He said the theme of the event: The science of safe events. Do the right thing in the new normal, on Victoria Island, Lagos, was in line with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES agenda of making Lagos a 21st Century economy.

He said there was no better time to gather people in the industry together “to have a deliberation of this magnitude than now because it will assist the government to fashion out regulations and enforcement on whoever that contravenes, hence the gathering of stakeholders to discuss and proffer solution to any likely challenge that may arise.”
Mojola said adherence to safety rules and regulations, education and standard would reduce dangers and hazards in event planning.
Special Adviser to the governor on Special Duties and Inter-Governmental Relations, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, advised the hospitality industry to embrace uniformity and collaboration.
Edi Lawani, representative of AQAATA Safety Company, enjoined participants to do the right thing, “especially now we are in ‘ember’ months, leading to Yuletide when much is happening.”
