The Akwanga Community in Nasarawa State has expressed appreciation to the China Harbour Engineering Company over the construction of the Keffi-Makurdi Road project.
The appreciation was conveyed by the Head Teacher of St. Peters Secondary School, Akwanga, Mr. Anzaku S. Abashi, who led a group of 48 students and teachers from the school on a visit to the Keffi-Makurdi Road quarry site.
The students and teachers, were on the visit to familiarize themselves with the process involved in blasting rocks and the various mechanical processes in crushing the stone to various sizes among other things.
Abashi said the the road project has affected the lives of the host community by the direct provision of jobs and by the various social works carried out by the company in their community.
This, he said, had in turn led to faster development of the community within the state.

He was very grateful for the visit as he said it will greatly inspire the students and deepen their love for science.
They were Science Students in Senior Secondary 1 and 2 of the school.
The Blasting Engineer of the project, Mr. John Acfa, said they were committed to having harmonious relationships with the local communities.
“All the students and the teachers are from the project’s host community. I believe this visit has made them understand the process involved in road construction better and also understand the general positive impact the project can have on their community. This positive experience for the students will further create harmony between the students and the host community,” he said.
Acfa had introduced the overall situation of the project and safety precautions to the visiting teachers and students, and then combined with the stone production line of the project to explain in detail all kinds of construction machinery and equipment and the production process of stone on site.
The teachers and students asked questions based on the relevant content of the on-site visit, and the project management personnel answered the questions on the spot, which further deepened the teachers and students’ understanding of the construction technology of the project and gave them a deeper understanding of the importance of the project in the Nigerian road network.
“Through this activity, communication with local communities and schools has been enhanced, and the friendship between the two sides has been deepened. At the same time, it also responds to the national strategy of going global, which reflects the three-in-one professionalism and enterprise development prospects of the project, from construction to after-sales service, and then to localised talent training,” Acfa said.
