All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders from Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong’s constituency have endorsed him as their candidate for Plateau South Senatorial District seat.
Rising from a meeting in Jos, with Lalong in attendance, the stakeholders from Quan-Pan, Shendam and Mikang local governments, appealed to the governor to accede to the people’s demand and stand as the party’s candidate in next year’s general election, having been so endorsed.
The Chairman of the forum, Sir Joseph Ari, while expressing the position of the meeting, held that the stakeholders, including youth and women groups and other members of the party, were pleased with the sterling performance of Lalong, who had restored peace to Plateau State.
He said the governor had built schools and hospitals across the 17 local governments, as well as completed other projects that had bearing on the populace. He moved a motion that Lalong be adopted as the party’s candidate.
The motion was seconded by Naanlong Daniel, the Majority Leader of the House of Assembly.
Ari, the Director General, Industrial Training Fund (ITF), extended invitation to supporters and well-wishers of the governor, to grace the formal presentation of the expression of interest and nomination forms to him on May 7 in Shendam, the headquarters of Plateau South Senatorial District.
