Authorities of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State have directed owners of abandoned vehicles, trucks and scraps on government’s landed property within the First-Gate and Mazamaza area of the council to give way within seven days or risk forfeiture to the government.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Head, Information Unit of the council, Prince Adeola Olawale-Cole and made available to journalists.
According to the statement, the abandoned vehicles and scraps are causing “long delays in construction works and delay in contract execution,” while also serving as “abode for hoodlums to perpetrate heinous crimes.”
The statement stressed that owners of the abandoned vehicles have defied an earlier warning issued in December 2021, stating that failure to comply with this final notice will result in the auctioning of such vehicles, trucks and scraps.
“At the expiration of this notice, the local government shall in conjunction with Lagos State Government, approach the law court for directives to evacuate and auction the abandoned vehicles, tracks and scraps,” the statement warned.
