Residents of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) yesterday turned out for a free medical rescue mission.
It was organised by the council in collaboration with Eko Club Atlanta, a United States-based non-governmental organisation.
Chairman of Ojodu LCDA, David Odunmbaku, reiterated his commitment to the well-being of residents.
Speaking at the Nigerian Institute of Journalism complex, Ogba, venue of the event, Odunmbaku thanked the medical team, partners, stakeholders, and guests who came to support the cause.
He reassured residents his administration would revamp and improve the primary healthcare service delivery.
“Our administration has been working since inception towards rejuvenation of Primary Health Service Delivery and rehabilitation of similar infrastructure.
“Today, our team will be providing services, including primary care consultations, general check-ups, vaccinations, laboratory testing, treatment for common illnesses, and basic emergency care. Our goal is to ensure every member access quality healthcare, regardless of financial status,” he said
Odunmbaku stressed support in providing free surgical interventions for gynaecological conditions, eye conditions, and orthopaedic conditions.
He emphasised importance of upgrading medical facilities by adding an ambulance for emergency, upgrading some of the eight-hour PHCs to comprehensive 24-hour PHCs, donating equipment to PHCs, and upgrading the Geriatrics Center at Oke-Ira Central PHC.
The council chief urged residents to come for check-ups and treatment, saying “Your health is your most valuable asset, and it is crucial you take care of it.”
