The National Industrial Court sitting in Enugu has ordered striking judiciary workers to return to their offices.
The court, presided over by Justice A. Ibrahim gave the order yesterday while hearing a suit by the Attorney-General of Enugu State, Anthony Ani (SAN) against the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and two others.
The court said the interim order was pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.
It also directed that the order be served on the respondents’ counsel respectively with a hearing notice and proof of service of same kept in the case file before the adjourned date.
“An interim Order is hereby made against the respondents to suspend their strike action pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice,” the court said.
Judiciary workers embarked on strike earlier in the year to protest the state’s failure to comply with the judgment of the Federal High Court on financial autonomy of the Judiciary.
