Crystal Palace U-23 goalkeeper, Owen Goodman has revealed his desire to represent the Flying Eagles of Nigeria.
The 18-year-old, who signed his first professional deal this year has been recognized by England at U-18 level but also eligible to play for Nigeria courtesy of his Nigerian mother.
Speaking to reporters via Zoom, he replied when asked about the prospect of representing Nigeria at U-20 level: “It would be exciting if I get a call-up to the national team.
“Nigeria hasn’t won the competition but with hard work and teammates we can achieve anything. If I get the opportunity to represent Nigeria, I will take it because I really want to represent the country.”
Goodman is closely monitored by the first team Coaching crew at Crystal Palace headed by Arsenal legend, Patrick Vieira. Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze are two players already in the Palace first team that are strongly linked with the Super Eagles.
“Olise just joined the team and we have not had a chat about Nigeria but I’ve spoken to Eberechi a few times but nothing on the national team. Hopefully, I get to speak more with them in future.”
