For erstwhile staff of MTN Nigeria, Adekunle Adebiyi, working at the telecoms giant has attracted a lot of positives to him more than anything else, in the course of his career.
The immediate past Chief Sales and Distribution Officer of MTN Nigeria spoke recently when he was hosted by MTN Partners, a body of distributors of MTN products and services and agencies responsible for customer acquisition.
The group commended Adebiyi’s stellar leadership qualities which positively contributed to the growth and development of MTN Nigeria over the years.
Amongst the roll call of guests who attended the shindig were Adebiyi’s former colleagues and associates like the Group Head of Corporate Banking at First Bank, Osahon Ogieva; the Chief Commercial Officer of Airtel Nigeria, Godfrey Efeurhobo; the CEO of ITEX Integrated Services, Ernest Uduje; the Head of Global Transaction Banking at Access Bank, Morenike Ogunwolu and the former Sales & Distribution Executive of MTN Nigeria, Tsola Barrow.
Commenting on Adebiyi’s remarkable leadership attributes, Oye Ojo, an MTN Trade Partner, noted he upheld the principles of integrity, fairness, and justice while discharging his duties during his time at MTN Nigeria.
“He ensured that our operations complied with the standards of regulatory bodies, including that of MTN Nigeria, while he also afforded us the opportunity to contribute our own quota to the development of the country’s telecommunications sector through our business-related engagement with MTN Nigeria. He has been a thorough-bred business leader who abides by the professional rules of engagement without fearing the challenges ahead, and has been instrumental to the growth of various organisations in Nigeria,” Ojo said.
In addition, Ojo admonished young professionals present at the occasion to demonstrate remarkable qualities that would stand the test of time.
Responding, Adebiyi recalled that the achievements he recorded during his time at MTN Nigeria would have been impossible without the love, support, and cooperation he enjoyed from all the critical stakeholders he interfaced with.
“I must admit that the successes I recorded while heading the sales and distribution unit at MTN Nigeria were due to the unflinching love and support I got from everyone I worked with which included the business trade partners, colleagues, and industry friends. This would have honestly been a more difficult journey for me, regardless of the work-related challenges I encountered, without the professional insights and guidance I was offered at multiple trying points,” he said.
Adebiyi, who currently serves as the Executive Director of Growth and Partnerships at ITEX Integrated Services, led MTN Nigeria cross-functional team to win the National Identification Management Agency’s (NIMC) mobile-operator award for enrolling over one million Nigerians within six months for their National Identity Numbers (NIN) while he was also instrumental in transforming the distribution infrastructure of MTN Nigeria to reach the semi-urban and rural areas of the country.
