A group, Building Collapse Prevention Guild (BCPG), has given approval for the demolition of some buildings in Mende Maryland and other parts of Kosefe Local Government Area of Lagos State.
In a statement jointly signed by the Co-coordinator, BCPG Kosofe Cell Soji Adeniji and Secretary, BCPG Kosofe Cell, Fatai Balogun, they stated that the perennial flooding in the low-lying areas within Kosofe part of the state has been a major source of concern to construction professionals living or working in that axis of the state.

They stated that encroachment into the established right of way along Odo-Iyalaro (river) technically termed System One Channel, has been identified as one of the prominent causes of perennial flooding being experienced in the area.
