The era of deportees being stranded at the airport on arrival from Europe is gone, the  Co-ordination Activist for Network Refugees 4Refugees, a political platform for refugees/migrant self-organisation based in Stuttgart, Germany, Rex Osa, has said.

He disclosed this during the launching of a transit accommodation centre put in place by his organization in the heart of Lagos.

Before now, Nigerians deported from different parts of the world, Europe in particular, were always being dumped and left stranded at the airport on arrival.

Network Refugees 4Refugees had, had to provide hotel accommodation and money for many of the deportees to go back to their relations.

Explaining the reason for the transit shelter centre, Rex said:  “We are an emergency, reception and support service team because we have experienced that people who are deported by chartered deportation flight don’t have any opportunity from either the Nigerian government side or the German government side.”
