Dickson to appointees: mobilise voters for PDP

Ahead of the Bayelsa governorship election, the state governor, Mr Seriake Dickson, yesterday charged his political appointees to return to their domains and mobilise voters for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Dickson, who spoke at the Banquet Hall, Yenagoa while inaugurating two newly appointed special advisers and three Rural Development Authority (RDA) chairmen, asked his aides to work towards winning the coming election by a wide margin.

He urged them to be dedicated in their duties and be loyal and supportive of the activities of his administration.

The new Special Advisers are Mr Selepiri Tonbie for Ijaw National Affairs and Niger Delta Mobilisation and Chief Sunday Omekwe for Trade Matters.

The three RDA chairmen are: Mr Godwin Worukumo for Okordia/Biseni/Zarama, Mr Preye Okorie for Sagbama and Emotongha Aditola for Opuokede.

Dickson asked them to be faithful, committed and selfless, adding that appointees should stay in their domains and link up with the grassroots ahead of the election.

He said they should not allow any disconnect between them and the people. “These are times we expect appointees to make sacrifices. We are creating platforms for the people to serve our state, defend the state and stand for the government and system they are part of.

“PDP do not just want to win the forthcoming governorship election in the state, but want to do so with a heavy margin, because Bayelsans are with the party.

“Endeavour to explain to the people the tough time we are passing through in our finances.  Be part of the restoration government and do your best to strength the government and to further the ends of the restoration government”.
