Dolly Parton to star in new Netflix series

COUNTRY music legend, Dolly Parton is coming to Netflix; the world’s leading Internet television network with over 117 million members in over 190 countries, enjoying more than 125 million hours of TV shows and movies per day, including original series, documentaries and feature films.

The streaming service announced Thursday, an eight-episode series based on Dolly’s ‘songs, stories, and inspiring life’. Each episode of the Netflix show will be based on one of Dolly’s songs, similar to her 2015 NBC special, ‘Coat of Many Colors’. Best of all, Dolly will lead the show as producer, co-star, and songwriter. Indeed, there will be singing.

“As a songwriter, I have always enjoyed telling stories through my music,” Dolly said. “I am thrilled to be bringing some of my favorite songs to life with Netflix. We hope our show will inspire and entertain families and folks of all generations, and I want to thank the good folks at Netflix and Warner Bros. TV for their incredible support.”

Funnily, Dolly’s former ‘9 to 5’ co-star Lily Tomlin accidentally teased the big news last week at an event for her Netflix series, ‘Grace and Frankie.’

Indiewire reported that Dolly’s former ‘9 to 5’ co-star, Lily Tomlin spilled the beans when asked if Dolly would ever guest star on ‘Grace and Frankie,’ Lily’s show with Jane Fonda.

“We’d like to see Dolly and we keep hoping we’ll work out a schedule, but she’s just so busy,” Lily said. “She does so many things, and now she has a big show deal herself at Netflix, so I don’t know.”

Some of the Nollywood movies on Netflix under the “African Movies” subcategory include, ’30 Days in Atlanta’, ‘A Soldier’s Story’, ‘The Arbitration’, ‘Ayanda’, ‘Couple of Days’, ‘The Duplex’, ‘Falling’, ‘Fifty’, ‘Gbomo Gbomo Express’, ‘Gone Too Far’, ‘Green White Green’, ‘Head Gone’, ‘Invasion 1897’, ‘Lunch Time Heroes’, ‘Mum, Dad, meet Sam’, ‘Mummy Dearest’, ‘Out of Luck’, ‘Road to Yesterday’, ‘Taxi Driver – Oko Ashewo’, ‘The Department’, ‘The Visit’, ‘The Wedding Party’, ‘When Love Comes Around’, and ‘When Love Happens’.
