The governorship candidate of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in Oyo State Adeshina Adewale has warned the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) not to add to suffering of Nigerians.

He said the warning become necessary to avoid anger of Nigerians who are already at the crossroads with the hardship inflicted on them with by the redesigned naira notes.

Speaking in Ibadan on scarcity of redesigned naira notes, the APGA candidate maintained that what is going on in the country does not favor the masses.

He said it is a ploy to turn the masses against the government.

According to him, forcing cashless policy on Nigerians is not the solution because there are some things CBN needs to put into consideration before the enforcement.

He said: “The policy is taking Nigerians backward, they are using our sweat to make themselves rich, you change the money without making the new ones available for the people.

“People are cashless, they can only withdraw as little as N2,000. Where are the new ones that they use billions of naira to print? Bandits are having the new notes but the masses don’t have access to it.

“Things will get worse if we continue with this system. They should consider the plight of the masses.”

He however urged Nigerians, particularly Oyo people to come out on elections day and vote for him to alleviate their sufferings.

Hundreds of protesters on Friday stormed the Oyo State Government Secretariat Agodi, Ibadan to protest scarcity of the redesigned naira notes.

The protesters, who carried matches, sticks, and stones, forcefully gained entry into the Secretariat.

It took the intervention of the Police, Army and Amotekun to repell the protesters from advancing to the main gate of the Governor’s office.
