Assistant Coach of Nigeria Air force (NAF) FC,Atere Osiobe on Friday said that home-based Super Eagles’ road-travel to Benin Republic would likely affect their performances negatively.
Osiobe said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja.
The coach was reacting to the travel of the team by road to Benin Republic for Championship of African Nations (CHAN) qualifiers.
“It is improper for giant of Africa’s team, no matter the cadre, to travel by road.
‘’Morale of the players may be low and if that happens due to fatigue that goes with road travel, they may perform poorly, God forbid!’’ Osiobe said.
The coach, who called for adequate funding of sports, especially football in Nigeria, said it was the only way to achieving better results.
Osiobe urged the players to do their best in the game irrespective of their challenges.
The home-based super Eagles on Friday left for Benin Republic for CHAN group qualifiers.
NAN reports that the 2018 African Nations Championship will be hosted by Kenya from January 11, 2018 to February 2, 2018
