Eid-el-Kabir: Police, NSCDC deploy officers nationwide

THE Nigeria Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), have massively deployed officers nationwide through their state commands to ensure the safety and security of lives and property during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In  Lagos State, the  Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, yesterday deployed operatives to strategic, vulnerable and notable places across the state for adequate security to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Lagos by the command’s spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin.

Alabi who also felicitated Muslim faithful on Eid-el-Kabir, directed all Area Commanders, DPOs, Tactical Commanders and Intelligence Officers to ensure that all areas were well covered.

He instructed the senior officers to deploy adequate human and operational resources to all strategic and vulnerable points across the state to forestall any form of breach of security.

Alabi charged the operatives to be professional, courteous but firm in the discharge of their duties before, during and after the celebration.

The commissioner said that the emplaced security architecture would be closely monitored and reviewed as required in a bid to sustain the existing peace in Lagos State.

Also, the Kaduna State Police Command yesterday deployed no fewer than 10,000 operatives.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mohammed Jalige, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Kaduna.

Jalige said that the command had made strategic security arrangements for this year’s Eid el-Kabir celebrations in the state.

He said that the arrangement was in line with the mandate and directive of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Alkali Usman, for public space to be dominated and secured.

“The Commissioner of Police, Kaduna Command, Mr Yekini Ayoku, is calling on the general public to take their personal and family safety very seriously,” he said.

While urging the citizens to go about their lawful activities without fear of intimidation or harassment from any quarter, he said that they should report any suspicious object or person through the command’s emergency contacts: 07039675856 and 08075391105 for prompt action.

In Kano, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), deployed no fewer than 3,005 personnel to ensure a peaceful Sallah celebration in the state.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Idris Adamu-Zakari, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Kano on Friday.

“The personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of lives and property as well as protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.

“Operatives of the corps will be stationed in various prayer grounds, emirs’ palaces, recreational centres and public places across the state to ensure hitch free Sallah celebrations,” he said.

 

1,457 personnel deployed in Osun

The Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), yesterday, deployed 1,457 personnel to ensure adequate security in the state, during the celebration.

The Public Relations Officer, Mrs Atanda Olabisi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Osogbo.

Her words:” Security personnel will be deployed to all entry points, prayer grounds, recreation centres and other public places across the state.

”Patrol vehicles have also been deployed to residential areas and critical national assets across the state.

”We shall continue to perform our statutory role of protecting the critical national assets and infrastructure.

”Reliable intelligence is necessary for proactive security intervention, we need the cooperation of the public in this regard.

”Muslim faithful are urged to go about their celebration without breaking the laws.”.

 

Delta CP orders raids on black spots, criminal hideouts

The Commissioner of Police in Delta, Mr. Muhammed Ali, has ordered police operatives in the state to carry out raids on all black spots and criminal hideouts across the state.

The CP’s order was contained in a statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, on Friday in Asaba.

The statement said the raids became expedient, to ensure adequate security and free flow of traffic in the state as the Muslim faithful celebrated Eid-el-Kabir festival on Saturday.

It further warned cultists and mischief makers to steer clear of the state as the Command would deal decisively with anybody who found wanting.

“To this end, the CP ordered massive deployment of personnel which includes special constabularies across the state for the purpose of providing adequate security in all Muslim prayer grounds and strategic locations in the state.

“The Commissioner of Police also directed all DPOs to intensify raids of criminal hideouts and black spots within their areas of responsibilities.

 

Conventional Police, others deployed in Bauchi

Bauchi State Police Command has said it is ready to perform the statutory responsibility of protecting the lives and property of citizens in the state before, during and after the Eid-El Kabir Sallah.

He said this through a press release which was signed on Friday, the PPRO of the Command, SP Ahmed Wakili said the Command will continue to collaborate with other relevant security agencies and all critical stakeholders to ensure that the celebration is peaceful and hitch-free.

He said the Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of officers and men consisting of Conventional Police and other Tactical Teams of the Command as well as necessary logistics to all praying grounds and venues of events in the state.

Edo vows to decimate crimes

Edo State Police Command said it deployed 3, 426 personnel.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Jennifer Iwegbu in Benin.

Iwegbu said the command had put in proactive measures and assured the general public of visible police presence.
