Management of the Elizade University in Ilara Mokin, Ondo State, has dismissed reports of bandits and herdsmen allegedly threatening to attack the community.
There have been rumours that bandits submitted letters to a radio station, Adaba FM, of their impending attack on the community. It was also gathered that the traditional ruler, Oba Aderemi Adefehinti, knew of the letter and had informed the people through a town crier.
But a statement by the university registrar, Omololu Adegbenro, said Oba Adefehinti and Adaba FM had refuted the reports.
The statement reads: “The Ondo State Police Command has also clarified that no threat was issued by bandits or herdsmen to attack any community in the state.
“Members of the university community are enjoined to continue with their activities without fear or intimidation as every necessary arrangement has been put in place for the security of lives and property.”
