Embrace service to humanity, Oyefeso enjoins Nigerians

President of Iperu-Akesan Club, in Ogun State, Aare Koka Oyefeso has called on well-meaning Nigerians and social organizations to learn to embrace the spirit of giving and service to humanity, because it’s the only way the society can be moved forward.

Oyefeso made this appeal while speaking recently at the presidential luncheon of Iperu-Akesan Club, in Ogun State.

Speaking on the topic, ‘Role of clubs in developing the community,’ Oyefeso maintained that rendering service to humanity would help to reduce the increasing rate of crime and criminality that is threatening the peace and unity of the country.

According to him, “anytime we practice even the smallest act of service, as little as holding the door for someone to pass, backed with a plain heart that says: Let me be of service to this person, we are uprooting our deeply embedded habit of self-centeredness.”

He noted that apart from the sense of fulfillment derived from service, service actually humbles those who serve.

“It is the antidote for the Inness of man, as it eliminates the ego. Service earns for us a shift of orientation from me-orientation to we-orientation with its attendant togetherness. When we serve we have to do it selflessly. This helps us to view people and situations with an eye for what we can offer and not vice versa. That is, from consumption to contribution,” he added.

Oyefeso posited that there is the need to interface with relevant agencies for the establishment of a full-fledged Remo Trade Center or Technical College that will offer artisanship in all aspects of Industrial and Domestic needs.

Remo Growth and Development Foundation, he noted, would always be handy to offer the necessary assistance, on anything that promotes the interest of Remo-Land and the welfare of her people.

He also said that the programme of action must include empowering the local vigilante and the Amotekun, since it has become obvious that the capacity is grossly lacking in police and security network, to tackle the upsurge of crime across the land.
