The London Evening Standard yesterday reported that a Turkish source Hurriyet confirmed that Emenike has in fact bought a house in Essex – as he looks to leave the Istanbul club.
The £16 million-rated Nigerian is linked with a move to the Barclays English Premier League side Totenham hotspurs with claims by Emenike’s agent that Spurs were keen on the striker.
Reports in Turkey would suggest that deal might indeed be on the cards. Emenike has had his troubles in Turkey recently. He subbed himself out of a game in March after booing from his own fans and expressed his dismay at being in the Fenerbahce team coach that was shot at earlier this month.
Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Fenerbahce striker Emmanuel Emenike for over a year now. Most recently, it was reported in January by The London Evening Standard that the Nigerian’s agent had claimed.
Now, if these reports prove to be true, he clearly has his eye on a move to a London team, with Tottenham clearly the favourites to snap him up.
The Nigerian has scored just four goals in 25 appearances this season but had a good record with previous club Spartak Moscow. Tottenham are in need of a new striker this summer, with Emmanuel Adebayor an outcast and Roberto Soldado barren in front of goal. Emenike might just be the man to support Harry Kane.
